Social Studies Unit2 Essay:

The step that I went through was first, to search at least 3 essays online, quickly read and collect all the informations that related to my topic. After this, i need to annotate the whole essay, and also summarizing the essay into the Graphic organizer . And then, gather the informations and finish writing the CER。

the things that i did well is collecting the informations, i can identify the websites that are reliable or not and get the correct informations. And i an also good on setting claims

the thing that i still need to work on is putting informations on G.O because i do not put a lot of informations on the G.O

science Unit 2 cell and body systems reflection

the essential question that i choose is: : How do our body systems work together when we play our favorite sport? the sport that i choose is tennis.

in this unit, we had learned about the functions of your body systems and also the interactions between two systems. when we are playing tennis, respiratory system, circulatory system, skeletal system and muscular system are used. And respiratory system helps you exchange oxygen and Co2 when you are playing tennis; circulatory system circulate blood in order to transport nutrients, waste, hormones, co2; the skeletal systems help you to protect your organs and the muscular helps you to move around. it relate to the idea that the body is a system of subsystems made up of groups of cells because You prove the body is a system of subsystems during tennis : muscle cells , forming tissues (muscle) that power organs arms and heart and, using energy from circulatory and respiratory systems to play tennis

Dissections and review games was the most impactful or memorable for me as a learner because it is fun and we can also learn a lot of things, i can be more focused if we are cutting things instead of reading or listen teacher speaking.

i can do some improvements on CER writing, maybe i wrote some reasoning on the evidence part, and my evidence part is even longer than the reasoning part!Every time it is like a 2 . And i need to read again before i submit to avoid grammar mistakes and i can also check the structure of the CER writing .

Unit 3 Math reflection:

U: What do you understand in this unit:

i understand the def of percentages and what is percentages, how to calculate? You can solve percentage problems by drawing tape diagram and double number line to help you.

N: What new information did you learn in this unit?

In this unit, i learned percentages and proportionality. At the first class, we reviewed about the fraction, how to calculate fractions. And then, after a few classes, we learned about calculating the percentages according to the shaded areas of each shapes. For example, 50% stands for half of the shape, 100% stands for the whole shape. And then, i learned how to calculate percentage problems, for example you can convert the percentages into decimals or fractions (for example: 34% =34/100)

I:what was interesting in this unit?

the things that are interesting is the feeling that you can solve the problems that you cannot solve before.

T: what was tricky for you in this unit?

the things that are tricky is calculating the percentage changes and the vocabulary that appears in the word problems for example the word”commission” and also understanding “what number is xx% of a number” and” a number is x% oh what number?” it is hard to understand and solve it i often wrote the answer at the opposite way

Unit 2 health

I used to think that all the health guidelines are all reliable because i think no one will videos that contains fake health informations. When i saw a health video in a social media, i will believe it, try it with no reason and even by the product that they are selling!

When i finished the health class this unit, i learned that i can use CRAAP test to identify that the health informations are reliable or not. CRAAP test contains Currency(when does this video posted?),Relevance(consider that is this informations suitable to your age group or not?),Authority(who is sharing this information? PHD?) Accuracy(is there any evidence based?) and lastly, Purpose(why is this health information being shared? In class, we’ve done a simple experiment: identify a video about putting the garlic inside your nose that can solve your nose issues. Accordoing to the CRAAP test, this video is not reliable because the influencer is not a doctor or a PHD, there is no evidence based.

For the influencer analysis project, me and Ruby had made a PPT. About the ways to help teens cure depression. After we made a CRAAP test, we found out that the video is reliable and the comments below the videos said that it really works

the video is about exercise can solve depression. We also done a PPT that include the CRAAP test.

Unit 1 health reflection

In this unit, we’ve learned about healthy diets. In a healthy diet, it contains healthy protein, fruits , whole grains and vegetables. Let me explain the good choices for each parts of the Harvard healthy plate. Building a healthy diet, vegetables contains 1/2 of your plate, you can choose any vegetables and fruits, but potatoes doesn’t count; whole grains contains 1/4 of your plate, whole wheat, oats and brown rice are great choices; lastly, healthy protein contains 1/4 of your plate, you can choose fish, poultry and nuts.

I had also done a project with Ruby and Victoria. The project is totally about master chef: i need to cook a healthy snack which contains protein. Then, we came up with an idea: tacos. This is a good idea because there are whole wheat tortillas, beef, lettuce, tomato, cheese and sour cream. In the school, we succeed, a lot of students love our tacos and we also get a lot of votes

I had also done the menu design I had made his menu to Teresa. due to she is a atheletics, so she needs to eat meals with high protein

Unit 1 reflection

this unit is about proportion. there are some vocabulary: constant of proportionality(cop), unit rate and ratio. we learned how to calculate the constant of proportionality, which is Y over X. There are different methods to calculate for different types of question.

in this unit, i also done a project with Ashley Tang. The project is about planning a 13 birthday party. We need to plan this party in limited amount of money. We spent those money in gifts, desks, chairs, music, foods and so on.

social Studies Unit1: Media presentation

1.What are some pieces of feedback that you received and then incorporated into your work? My group mate suggested that i need to add some more eye contact to the audience and also speak louder, more clear.

2.  Explain 1 thing that you are proud of from this unit.  I am proud of myself at I learned how to manage my time, which is really important while your are learning. I learn this skill when I am doing my media presentation project.I use almost 4 days to finish and edit this project because I am busy during the holiday.

3. Explain 1 thing that you want to keep working on.  I can improve my skills using Canva because i am new to this school, and i don’t know all the function in Canva, so my media post, AD, and billboard is simple, but at least it is clear to express my idea.

In my opinion, bias means your own perspective, every one has their own perspective. For example, there are some bias about girls, in the past, people think girls cannot read and learn, they only can stay at home and cook.

If every one have the same perspective, they will not have conflict, which is really good. Wars will not appear.

If every one have the same perspective, maybe it is a bad thing. You are Not considering multiple aspects of a situation.

Welcome to Your New Portfolio!

Why have a digital portfolio at SAS?

Creating a portfolio, or blog is a great way to collect all the work you’ve done throughout your academic career. You can include academic, athletic, and personal artifacts or experiences that you want to share with a wider audience. This is a great way to organize all your learning in one place and you can take it with you when you leave SAS.  When you make your portfolio, you create posts that are categorized according to your subject. Some categories have already been set up for you, but if you need more categories you can add them as needed. It’s important that your posts have the following:
  • An engaging title – this should not include the name of the subject since this is referenced in the category. Think of this as the first opportunity to engage and hook your reader!
  • Body – this is where you share your learning. This should include a combination of text and media in the form of images, graphics, and embedded videos. You should always consider how your post looks to your audience. Is it engaging and organized? Do they want to keep reading?
  • Category – select one that has been set for you or add a new category. Posts can have more than one category e.g. Humanities and Myself as a Learner
  • Tags – create tags that can be used as keywords to describe your post. Tags help organize your post a little more! Aim to have 3-5 tags for each post. For example, if you are posting about a novel you wrote, you might want the following tags: #Fiction, #MurderMystery, #Theme, #PlotDiagram
