In this unit, I learned about how to serve backhand and spike the birdie. One of my strengths is probably spiking the ball and attempting to murder the opponents. One thing I need to work on is to try not to use too much strength or else it’s gonna be out.
1. Describe your story and what real-life situation it modeled?
Our story was about the French Re-re-re-re-re-re-re-revolution that happened in 6769, when the biotechnology is very advanced, it allowed people to have displaced body parts that could be connected via bluetooth, and people were addicted to the Roblox avatar trend called “headless” that makes the character not have a head. Thus, people started to have headless in real life as well to follow the trend until it ended. This story modeled the French Revolution but it is more about trends and fashion in this story.
2. What part of your project are you most proud of? Why?
I am most proud of my creativity about the topic because it’s unique and there probably wasn’t anyone else who thought of it?
3. What was the hardest part of creating your piecewise function?
The hardest part of creating my piecewise function was thinking about the scale. I struggled on this for a long time, me and Linda probably changed it for 3+ times until we got the final product.
4. If you could revise one part of this project, what would you improve and how?
I would probably do the calculations part on paper so that it won’t be so complicated to type out.
5. What did this project help you understand better about piecewise functions?
It made me understand more about the vocabulary like “domain” “range” and know how to explain the calculations more👍
In this unit, we learnt how to play water polo and we nearly drowned (yay). They taught us how to survive when we are drowning and how to help others. I think I most improved on treading the water and not drowning.
The purpose of the project is to examine healthy / unhealthy relationships. I looked at the relationship between Bella and Edward in Twilight and found out that their relationship was really unhealthy, Edward was not respecting Bella’s boundaries, he was being over protective, and the show decided to romanticise these.
One thing that I didn’t know before was that there was intersex people, which meant that they have two biological sex. And because of that, they have to choose between male and female because that’s what the society wants instead of opening a new gender category. Another important thing I learnt was that hesitation doesn’t mean consent, in order to have consent, there should be no hesitation. But, that makes me wonder: what if the person giving consent has social anxiety or they are not good communicating with others, does that still mean consent or not? We also learnt about gender norms and stereotypes, and that made me wonder about how we got those ideas from; was it from the media?
In this unit, we learnt about how to dribble the ball and how to pass the ball, as well as playing some games. Transitioning from offence to defence🤔. I think I most improved on passing and defencing (even though I never knew what I was doing).
I can’t include a snippet of my part because every time I try to trim it, it deletes the audio💔. AND there isn’t audio in the back half of this when I upload to portfolio 💔 oh well. I spoke at 15:41 – 16:03.
Glow: My speaking frequency was 3, and the class average was 3. This shows that I’m not speaking too much or too little👍 (Goldilocks)
My talk time was 41 seconds. Compared to the average (114 seconds), this means that I’m talking too fast and I didn’t meet the average.
Grow:
I didn’t help build equity enough. Next time I can help by telling the people who spoke too much to give the people who only spoke 1-2 times a chance to speak and tell people to stop interrupting.
My talk time was 41 seconds; I want to aim for a more balanced contribution by speaking slower and think about more things to say before actually starting to talk (Welp, I thought of a lot to say and when I started speaking, someone interrupted me and they started talking).
I entered the discussion by connecting to Asia’s comment at 15:41.
My opening move supported equity because I didn’t talk over Asia and I think I only had 1 at that moment so it is also helping me to not get a 2 or something.
The flow improved when I talked to my elbow partners about not interrupting and slower pace.
I made space for others when I got interrupted 😢.
A final idea I connected was about building character (round characters).
I pick the equity map to show my thinking and growth because at start, I didn’t actually talk, but as I got more comfortable, I started talking somewhat a decent amount later on.
I used to think mental health meant just not being sad or stressed, that it was only about whether someone was “happy” or “depressed”. Assumptions and misconceptions I had was that people with mental health problems were always easy to notice or that they just needed to “think positive” to feel better. I didn’t realize how complex and invisible mental health issues can be.
But now I think mental helth is about overall emotional, psychologyical, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act, and it’s something everyone needs to take care of , not just people with a diagnosis. New information I leant is that mental health can be influenced by many factors: stress, environment, genetics, and relationships. And that reaching out for help is a sign of strength, not weakness. My perspective shifted because i saw how common mental health challenges are and how much stigma can stop people from getting support. I also learned that small things like kindness, listening, and self-care can make a big difference.
Something that surprised me most in this unit was how much our daily habits: sleep, nutrition, social connection, and comping skills. Can impacti mental health. I didn’t realize it was so connected to everyday life. This learning might affect how I view myself and others by making us more understanding and less judgmental. I’ll try to be more patient with myself when I’m struggling and more supportive of others who might be going through something I can’t see.
My current goal is to give my maximum effort when doing any work in that class and don’t procrastinate until the last second. I have made some progress towards my goal for I have actually not procrastinated in a few months (yay).
I am most proud of the poster I made for my independent time because I got all 3s and it was quite fun to research the topic of tariffs and making the poster. My biggest challenge in class is explaining why an alien would want to use connotation and denotation and types of sentences. Except for the star test at the start of the year, I have not turned any work late (I think🤔) and I completed the work before the due date instead of what i usually do :).
Math
I’m proud of not getting all 1s and actually being able to solve questions :). My biggest challenge might be looking at which shape is the pre-image and which is the image because I did one question incorrect just because of this😭. I did all my homework (well at least what I thought was homework😭 I did lesson 3 homework instead of lesson 2 homework) and I participated in class without touching fish 🙂 yay.
Science
I’m proud of my effort put into this class (in 3 for 3s, I only got one 2.75) and I review what I did wrong to make sure that I don’t do the same mistake next time :). My biggest challenge in this class is putting reasoning in evidence 🥲 I keep doing this because I don’t know what else to yap about in the evidence. I didn’t need the teacher to tell me to focus and stay on task and I just did what I’m supposed to do.
Social Studies
I’m proud of finishing my work before the due date (and sometimes completing next class’s work) and collaborating with my new partner (Linda). Staying fully focused because I don’t wanna write opening speech for debate unit :(. So, I usually take brain breaks. I mostly did my work on time (except for the times where I forgot… oops). I want to have less brain breaks and more work time to use my time more efficiently :).
1. I chose question 8 as evidence of my best thinking because I was correct on this question and I was thinking critically👍 I’m so pro
2. I chose question 4 as evidence of my best thinking because at first on the pre-assessment, I got these types of questions wrong but this time I got it correct, and that shows my improvement from the start of the unit to now.
3. Throughout this unit, I improved the most at describe mapping from pre-image to image.
4. I feel that I still need to work on looking at the question carefully because I got the pre-image and the image mixed up
5. List three of your strengths so far this year:
rotating the shape
translations
reflections
6. List three things you want to improve on in the next unit.
dilations
reading the question
identifying the congruency statement (AAS, SSS, ASA, SAS)
In the next unit, I want to read the questions more carefully.
