Resilience

In the resilience tasks, I did four tasks. The first one was taking a mindful walk with Bella. The second one was walking my dog during the break. Third was mindful eating, and the last one was a thank you card to my mom. While doing the mindful walk, we got to pay more attention to the environment of our school, finding new places we never saw before. If it was not mindful walking, I would have passed a lot of those places. In addition to that, it was fun just walking outside in the good weather while talking with a friend. The second task was walking my dog. Normally, it is my mom and dad who walk my dog, but throughout the break I thought I was not moving enough and just staying at home. So, the solution to that was walking my dog for at least 20 minutes every day. It would be nearly the only time I would go outside, so feeling the fresh air really boosted my energy and helped with my resilience. When doing the third task, I could taste the same food I eat very often in a different way. Even if I eat pretzels really often, I never felt the chewiness and the saltiness coming together. I would rather just eat it up since I am hungry. Through this opportunity, I could realize more about my surroundings and things that I was missing. The last task I did was a thank you card to my mom. While writing this, I thought back on the things my mom did for me and started to appreciate it once again, able to reflect on my own actions too.

Communication

In the communication tasks, I did three tasks. The first one was visiting the elementary school library and reading a book for them. The second one was making an instruction post about how to navigate through Instagram. The last one was reimagining an object with tina. While reading a book with elementary school kids, I was able to realize how the way I communicate changes towards little kids. I match their knowledge level and start to realize what kind of communication they are entertained towards. Although now I am a high school student with more advanced communication, I was able to look back and realize the growth and change between the years, showing a clear difference in the improvement of my own communication too. When doing the second one, I was able to write something from a new perspective. I was teaching someone which means I must assume that the person doesn’t know anything about this from the beginning. I would need to think from their perspective and chronologically explain the steps towards achieving the app. While doing the last task I realized how an object could be defined and communicated differently based on our creativity too.

Critical Thinker

In the critical thinking tasks, I finished three tasks. The first one was drawing a small comic out of a worded paragraph. The second one was top 20? Things I would bring if I had to live on a lost island. The last one I did was a short magic trick. I worked with Tina for the small comic, and we got a riddle like question where we had to solve it through a comic. It was given a situation where we were given a mission, and with the objects given, we had to accomplish the task. To draw it we had to rely on the paragraph and the evidence, overall building up my critical thinking skills. For the second one, I started off independently but later discussed my answer with other people to compare our thoughts. While comparing it, we realized we all had different logical reasons we were determined to put these items as first second or third. This showed how even if we were given the same information the way we interpret it and how we use the evidence is different for everyone. For the last task, I was able to use a short video to demonstrate a magic trick, using my critical thinking skills to learn something new.

Creativity

In the creative tasks, I managed to finish two tasks. The first one was making a 3D printed object, and the second one was drawing a new book cover. Both of the tasks related to the artistic side of myself, making myself try new things. For the 3D printed object, I tinkercaded a snowman since it was Christmas season. After the break, I was able to talk with Mr. Kilgore and print it. I am already enrolled in a physical computing class, so doing a 3D printed project was not very hard. However, one obstacle I had to face was the 3D printer itself. I asked it to print it white, but it messed it up by printing it purple. Even though I had to go through a sudden obstacle when I was rushed to finish up my tasks, I had to go back to Mr. Kilgore and reprint it. For the book cover, drawing was the hard part. I am not a fan of drawing, so drawing something was a new thing that I have not been doing recently. Even though at first it felt awkward drawing, later I got really into it and managed to finish the drawing. I think I do well overall on the creative tasks when compared to the amount of time consumed and my final product.

Effective Collaborator

In the effective collaborator, I accomplished two tasks. One task was a zoom image challenge as a group, and one was making a new workout routine. I improved on my skill mostly while doing the zoom image challenge because we worked as a whole class. On the new workout routine, I just worked alone on it, so I still do not get why that task is in the effective collaborator section. While doing the zoom task, our class had some disagreements on the order of the image. However, we managed to split in groups based on the context given in the image and slowly figure it out. Through this I learnt that splitting the roles and not one person over taking everything is important in a collaborative task. I think I well contributed as a group member by comparing my image and others to match up the order, later finalizing it. If I worked on the workout routine with a partner, I think I could have improved communication through the collaborator skills. We would have talked about what sports we do and based on our experience what kinds of stretching and workout are the most effective.
