What did I learn about Dystopian Fiction?
I learned that Dystopian Fiction is divided into eight parts, at the first of this unit I didn’t know anything about Dystopian Fiction and I don’t even know what’s does this word mean. However, now I know what Dystopian Fiction contains and what’s the difference from each different parts like Illusion of Utopia, Dehumanization, and Social Control.
How does Dystopian Fiction invite me to think about real life?
In the book The Giver, the Illusion of Utopia is well presented in it, it shows that their world doesn’t have pain, but they also doesn’t have loss, love, and warfare. In real life, Disney is like the Illusion of Utopia for the kids, because they think that everything in Disney is magical and all the things that they enjoyed in Disney makes them think that they wouldn’t want to go and they would want stay there for ever and they could experience what does the “princess and knight” feels.
I mostly enjoys The Giver because at first Lois Lowry gave us many hints about what there world is like and also making us expecting the Ceremony of Twelve, but after the Ceremony of Twelve we noticed that only pale eyes gets to receive the memories so he wanted to give all the memories to everyone in their community. Then, the most interesting part that I think is when Jonas knows his dad releases child, so he planned a escaping with Gabriel, but the part that I don’t like is that Lois Lowry didn’t tell us what happens at last so I have to guess it, however I still want to know the last part if Jonas and Gabriel is dead or not.
How have I improved my ability to write academic paragraphs?
I didn’t know that there is a specific way to write an academic paragraph before, so I will just write like a normal story and not getting point of writing these stories. Now, I know the difference with an academic paragraph and a normal story, and I can use the structure to write a good academic paragraph.
How am I better now interacting with others with Literature Discussions?
At first, I thought it is just a discussion that is very boring, but now I know that Literature Discussion helps us to learn the ideas of each other and knowing the parts that we are not sure, also we get to validate each other when we appreciate their thinking.
