Chinese semester 1 reflection 3rd test

Looking back on my recent Chinese ETK test, I feel a mix of pride and regret. One thing I regret is not studying more. I realize now that if I had spent more time reviewing the material, I would have felt better prepared and more confident during the test.

On the bright side, I’m really proud of my character writing. I got all the characters correct! This made me feel great because all the practice I put in paid off.

However, I want to do better in my sentence writing. While I did okay, I know I can improve my sentences to make them clearer and more interesting. My goal is to practice different sentence structures and learn new vocabulary to help with this.

Integrated Mathematics Semester 1

Active Learner Habits

One strength I bring to math class is a determination to grow.

Another strength I bring is that i work well with my peers.

A third strength I bring is that i bring positive idea.

One habit I want to improve this semester is that i want to ask more questions is to the teacher when i don’t understand something.

I will work on this habit by asking the teacher about homework more.

Math Notation and Communication

My math work has improved because I challenged myself more in this semester than all the other ones, so i think that made me think about math more.

Understanding Key Concepts

Reflection

Now, I am doing well on challenging myself in class, and this shows growth, because at the start of the year, i was very close minded, meaning if it was not nessecary, then i wouldn’t do it.

Overall, my work shows that i can show my thinking in math, and calculate.

Band SDT Reflection

In my group, I was playing piano and my partner was playing clarinet. We had to find a song that both of us could play. So, we went to musescore to find song for piano and clarinet, and the most familiar song was ” A Whole New World”. I learnt that when picking music, you really have to take both instruments into account, because not all instruments can play the same notes.

I learnt that If i practice the music out to school , i can be successful, but if i don’t i will just end up having a dumpster fire-like fiasco where i don’t know how to play anything. I gained the skill of being more paitient with myself, since piano isn’t my main instrument, i don’t know how to play it well, causing me to fail many times. I am more curious about playing piano now, and am thinking about learning it as another skill.

In the middle of the task, i learnt the notes as all b flat based instead of c, so i had to learn the music all over again. I practiced a lot, and i eventually learnt how to play the proper music.

I practiced a lot, almost everyday, because i was almost certain that i would play the wrong notes in class. My mom also helped me by listening to me playing and then giving me feedback.

Badminton Reflection

In the Badminton Unit, we learned different serves and ways to play. We learned this by playing a set of games that moved fast, and we could play with different people, so diverse ways of playing. I had a problem where i couldnt hit the shuttle when it went to far up the court, and i improved on that too.

Unit 3 Identity and healthy relationships

I learned that not all relationships are very good. I used to think that all relationships were the same, and that they all went through the same procedures. But after watching the movie twilight, i learnt that the relationship between Bella and Edward was not like everyone elses. Through health class, i learnt that this was because Bella and Edward had a toxic relationship, including verbal abuse, the act of controlling, and mistreatment. I learnt that an relationship that looks like this is not a very healthy relationship, and that i should never be in one like this, or if i see someone with one like this, i should stop it.

I learnt that when you are mad, you should take deep breaths, that way, it will calm your brain. I did this after having health classes about it, and it really helped me.

The last thing i learnt was that it is ok to be different genders. Since some cultures or religions think of being gay as a sin, some people are taught that being gay is not ok. i learnt that people come in all different types, so its ok to be different.

Health Unit 2 Portfolio: Reflection on Learning

I used to think that mental health was just a thing that was about the health that is happening in your mind. I never thought it was really important to me, and i didn’t think much of it. I think it was because no one in my family had any mental health problems, and no one really acknowledged mental health, and we didn’t talk about what would happen if any of us had a mental health issue.

But now i think that mental health really impacts daily life and how we think. For example, if you have OCD, you will have difficulties doing normal life stuff like eating, reading, and sleeping. And i know now that all of these mental health issue are stigmatized like how anxiety is stigmatized to be shown as something bad that happens to the worst of people. Instead of thinking that mental health is something that is not very important, i now think that it is very important as it could happen to anyone, and knowing the symptoms and the causes is very important. A thing that most surprised me the most this unit was that drugs and alchohol are the causes of dopamine, causing addiction.

WOOP Goal

SLEEP TRACKER

Hypothesis: I expect of see that i have in fact fallen asleep faster for the first couple of days, that i became more energetic because of the increasing hours of sleep i got. I also want to be able to see that i have woken up faster in the morning, due to me sleeping earlier.

Apparently because I haven’t been getting a lot of sleep lately, I have been very mean in the mornings and I didn’t really stay in a very good mood for the rest of the day.

I would also be really tired in the middle of the day and I would be kind of stressed at every little thing that happened to me. This is mostly because of my use tech use that has been causing me to not be able to sleep. But I don’t think that my tech is a very big impact in my life so I will be using this app to try to sleep better.

The app that i am using is called Sleep tracker, and i will have been using it for a full week.

On the first day, i went to bed exceptionally early at 9 30pm. I turned on one of the recordings on the app, and it started playing an audio of a person narrating a sort of story. I don’t think that it really helped since i wasn’t sleeping until about 10 40, and i just lied there.

this app helps helps me sleep and it’s not been very useful these past days since it’s basically just music that comes people down, but I don’t think it is right for everyone.

I used the music feature most because it had a lot of different music styles but the one music that I used most was the “nighttime wood” because I found it very calming, even though it didn’t really help me sleep. I didn’t get to use some of the music and some of the sleeping tracking part because that was the part where I had to pay, but I didn’t.

The app said that there would be a lot of free things that I could use, including sleep tracking things, but I found out that it was fake and that you had to pay for the sleep tracking and some of the music didn’t work because you had to pay. Another thing that didn’t work was the recording of myself sleeping, because you had to pay for that too.

I don’t think my mood got any better and I don’t think I was more lively in the morning because the music didn’t really help me and instead, I got kind of distracted in the night.

I think that the music kind of helped me be more calm, but that raised a lot of questions in my brain so I wasn’t really able to sleep well. I guess that some of the sleep tracking thing worked because I managed to go to bed earlier. My hypothesis was wrong as I was not able to sleep earlier or better.

The app didn’t really encourage anything weird but I guess that it did ask me if I wanted to record myself sleeping and that was kind of not very normal. The app is effective if you use it once when you’re really tired because sometimes if you’re calm, you can really fall asleep.

This app would actually not be very good as a sleep helping app, but it might be helpful for people who need to be calm down sometimes because it really calmed me down too.

The app had several different music types so I think that that encourages users to use it more. The app makes money by having to receive payment for sleep tracking and for some music.

I think that the app creates more dependency because it’s not very accurate or useful, but for some people, it might be kind of addictive since it calms people down.

ELA

My spark was the impeachment of South Korea’s Ex president

This subject connects to politics, as it is about the president, and it also connects to economics, as it impacted the economy of the whole world.

This spark is important to me because Im South Korean, and it was all over the news. My parents were really concerned because of this matter, so i was concerned too. This was a very serious matter because the president was planning to murder people, and he was tryin to take over some of the world, so it was bad. I think that this is important to me because this ight have impacted my life greatly, and i remember thinking that i was very thankful that i wasn’t greatly impacted.

Branching Question:

How did Korea’s government respond to this problem

Why did the president’s wife get arrested?

Health Unit The Teenage Brain Reflection

This unit in health, we made a presentation on how the teenagers brain develops.

Learning about brain science helped me learn that since the teenager brain is not fully developed until the age of 25, we tend to act rashly or take dumb risks more. i think that sometimes, i get a rush of anger or adrenaline, i usually do something dumb or unexpected, and it almost alway leads to me feeling bad or i get in trouble.

The most suprising thing i learned about the teenage brain is that the teenage brain can make someone reckless so that they can crash a car. The more teenagers in the car, the more likely you will crash a car. I think this is because the teenage brain isn’t developed enough so they make the dangerous decisions.

Understanding the teenage brain might help parents and children communicate better. The parents will start to understand why their child is acting or speaking in a certain way. This will increase the communication between the child and the parents, making the get closer and more loving to each other.

i honestly think that meditating without a screen is the best strategy to manage stress. Without a screen, your mind will get more peaceful and you will have more time to think about yourself, not other people. I think that then, you can cleanse your brain of thing you don’t need, and the things that bother you, and you can make a good schedule for yourself and follow that. I also think that maybe mindful breathing can be useful since sometimes, when you get mad because of the stress, if you breathe in a rythmic pattern, it might help you feel calmer.
