Nonfiction Essay Unit Reflection

What did we do?

Composed a nonfiction essay describing and analyzing differences between the original novel and the film adaptation of “The Giver.”

What have we been learning?

Academic Essay Organization

-Introduction Paragraph with Interesting Hook, Background Info, and Thesis Statement

– Strong Body Paragraphs with Clear Transitions

-Conclusion Paragraph with Thesis Statement, Analysis, and Closing Thoughts

What’s Working:

What worked was the two body paragraph, I put all the important details in the two body paragraph. Also, I didn’t use first person or second person in my essay, and I used Raina AI to give me some suggestions on how to write a good interesting opening and closing statement. I used AI for revising small mistakes that I did not fix in my essay, but not asking AI to write the essay for me.

Areas for Growth:

What was challenging was definitely the conclusion paragraph because for me, it was really hard on how to end the essay properly and how to make the reader remember my essay as a really good one. Another challenge was writing a good hook to convince my reader to continue reading. How I deal with this challenges was asking AI on how to write a good concluding paragraph, asking how I should end the essay and ask AI for an interesting hook type for my essay.

Personal Relevance:

This can help me by preparing for high school and higher grades, so I don’t have to struggle writing an good, strong essay. AI can strengthen my writing by asking for good suggestions for my hook, introduction paragraph, conclusion paragraph, and more.

S/T/D Reflection

We chose this music because it was not too easy or hard and very simple. I learned that you shouldn’t choose easy music or hard music, if its too easy, you can finish it perfectly, and if its too hard, you would struggle to play it.

I learned that sometimes you shouldn’t be nervous because mistakes are okay and you can fix the mistakes too. If I were to play something wrong, I wouldn’t just stop and look at my classmates, I would find where they are starting at and play at that part.

Last time when I performed at the Carnaval, I stopped because I was nervous and made a mistake, now, I will not stop and keep on playing

We practiced alot, so we won’t look like we haven’t practice even once, we mostly fixed our counting which, first we didn’t match that well.

Endangered Species Project Reflection

I learned the causes of how species becomes endangered and how they would go extinct. Also, I learned that endangered species, they are mostly out in the wild and some in protection.

I learned how to find an appropriate graph and information for my research. I also learned how to use thing link which was the website that I was using as my project. One of my skills that were strengthen was finding appropriate websites for information of my endangered species and analyzing graphs with the correct format.

I checked my analysis paragraph by seeing if I have data written as my evidence, if something is decreasing or increasing, and the relationship. I also check by looking at the rubric (if there is a rubric), and seeing if I got all the things said inside the rubric.

PE Reflection Badminton

What did we do?

We learned legal serve, legal forehand, backhand, and learned how to hold a racket. Also, the basic rules about badminton.

What did we improve on?

I improved on how to serve a legal forehand and backhand, I also learned how to smack the ball when the ball is like far away on the court. I learned how to hold a racket properly which before I didn’t know how hold it.

Strength

one of my strength is smacking the ball which i can make the opponent not knowing where the shuttle would hit next.

Weakness

one of my weakness is not serving the ball across the red line which means my power isn’t enough.
