Unit III – Democracy Unit Reflection

What did I work on?

1.Understanding different types of governing.

2. Comparing ancient Greek democracy to modern American democracy.

3. Understanding why rules and laws change over time

4. Researching USA amendments and UN articles connected to human rights

5. Socratic seminar discussion about the causes and effects of amendments/articles and how they are connected to each other

What did I learn?

How and why does democracy change over time? I also learned how a bill becomes a law and the three branches of the US government. And the three branches of the US government made checks and balances, which makes all branches have equal power.

What worked well?

I am proud of my Venn Diagram results and I used two examples to support the topic. I listed at least twelve things about the US Government and the Romans, with each comparing how they are different and similar.

What did not work?

I think that I should improve on the socratic seminar, speaking more clearly and loudly with more specific details and evidences to support my research. I should also be more specific when I talk about my topic. I need to be more prepared and bring my notes cards.

Personal Relevance

This can help me because when I have a job interview, I can use the skills of if the leader is asking any questions, I can immediately answer it, not stopping and not asking what the question is again. I can also not be nervous since I would be practicing in the future grades and the past too.
