Life is short so don't waste it

PE Badminton Reflection

During this unit, I improved my skills especially me backhand serve. I also practiced smashing and also my forehand dropshot. I enjoyed this unit very much and would do it again.

French Activity Reflection

We had to write about how healthy our habits are and also how healthy we live. For instance, what kind of food you eat, how much you sleep, ect. We also had to compare our healthy habits with another friend like saying who eats more healthy and why.

The text I wrote had a few spelling errors and conjugation errors but nothing too major but I could have wrote more because I didn’t write a lot.

French Unit 1 Reflection: La Guerre des Jumeaux, The War of the Twins

We had to read a short kids chapter book that’s in french. We read some chapters in school and got assigned chapters for homework. We also sometimes had to do a summary or answer some questions about the chapter we read to home as part of our homework. When I read this story, I felt that it was difficult to read because there were a lot of words I didn’t know. To practice the vocabulary, we used the Quizlet set that were provided to us. I usually practice the vocabulary by using Quizlet flashcards multiple times until I’ve memorized all the vocabulary we need to remember. For our final test, we had to summarize what happened in the story by looking at the pictures in each page. This was kind of difficult for me because I had a hard time memorizing all the keywords I prepared for the recording

I am proud that I completed it but I feel I could have practiced more because I didn’t pronounce all the words correctly

Unit 3: Identity and Healthy Relationships

The purpose of my project was to analyze the relationship between Tris and Four from Divergent and evaluate how their interactions show healthy and unhealthy qualities. By looking at how they communicate, support each other, and handle conflict, I was able to understand how fictional relationships can reflect real-world relationship skills. My main conclusion is that while their relationship includes positive qualities like trust, honesty, and mutual respect, it also shows moments of unhealthy stress, secrecy, and power imbalance that are important to recognize.

Through this unit, I learned that identity plays a major role in shaping how someone behaves in a relationship, because the more confident and self-aware a person is, the healthier their interactions usually become. I also learned that strong relationships depend on open communication and clear boundaries, since honesty and mutual respect help prevent misunderstandings. Another important idea is that trust takes time to build and requires consistent actions that show dependability and care. At the same time, I realized that even caring relationships can have unhealthy patterns, such as secrecy or pressure, which is why it’s important to recognize red flags early. Finally, I learned that having a strong sense of personal identity helps people choose relationships that support their well-being and avoid situations that could harm their emotional health.

PE Aquatics Unit

During the swimming and water polo unit, I found water polo challenging because it wasn’t a sport I was naturally good at. The rules, ball control in the water, and constant movement made it difficult at first, and I struggled to keep up during games. However, even though I wasn’t strong at water polo, I still learned how the game works and how to participate effectively as part of a team. Learning the basic skills, strategies, and rules was interesting and helped me appreciate the sport more. This unit showed me that even when I’m not good at an activity, I can still learn new skills, improve my understanding, and enjoy the experience by staying involved and open to learning.

Design Tech Box Reflection

In this project, the goal was to design and create a functional tissue box inspired by a specific design movement. The first step in the process was being assigned a design movement, which became the foundation for all the design decisions that followed. After receiving my design movement, I began by researching different things related to that movement to get some inspiration. This research helped me understand what makes that style unique, and it provided inspiration for the visual direction of my own tissue box design.

Once I had gathered enough information, I moved into the sketching stage. I created several different design ideas, experimenting with shapes, patterns, and layouts that reflected the design movement. Sketching allowed me to explore multiple possibilities and refine my ideas before committing to a final concept.

After choosing my strongest design, I made a prototype using styrofoam. This step was important because it helped me visualise the size, proportions, and construction of the box in a physical form. Building the prototype also allowed me to identify any practical issues early on, such as how the pieces would fit together or if any measurements needed adjustments.

With the prototype complete, I transferred my final design into Inkscape. I carefully recreated each panel of the box, making sure that all measurements were accurate and that the design elements matched my sketches. Inkscape was used to prepare the digital files for the laser cutter, so precision was essential.

The next stage was laser cutting. Once the files were ready, I used the laser cutter to cut out all the parts of my tissue box from the chosen material. This process required careful handling and checking to ensure each piece came out clean and correctly sized.

Finally, I assembled my tissue box by gluing all the laser-cut pieces together. This step brought the design to life, turning my digital files and prototype into a complete, physical product. Seeing the final outcome helped me understand how each stage of the design process contributes to the final result.

Overall, this project taught me how important research, prototyping, and accuracy are when designing and manufacturing a product. Each step—from studying a design movement to assembling the final box—helped shape the final outcome and strengthened my understanding of the design process.

Health Unit 2 Portfolio Reflection

What did you think mental health meant?

At first, I thought mental health just meant not having a mental illness. I believed it only referred to problems like depression or anxiety and didn’t see the bigger picture.

What assumptions or misconceptions did you have?

I assumed that mental health issues were rare and only happened to certain people. I also thought that if someone was feeling down, they could just “snap out of it” or were looking for attention. This made me not realize how serious and common mental health issues can be.

What new information did you learn?

I learned that mental health includes how we think, feel, and act. It affects everyone, not just those with mental illnesses. I found out that many people struggle with mental health problems and that stress, trauma, and daily life can impact how we feel.

How has your perspective shifted about mental health, mental health conditions, or people who experienced them?

My perspective has changed a lot. I now see that mental health is just as important as physical health. I understand that mental health issues are complicated and that people need support, not judgment. I feel more empathy for those who are struggling and believe it’s important to talk openly about mental health and help reduce the stigma around it.

What surprised you the most during this unit?

What surprised me the most during this unit was how common mental health issues are. I didn’t realize that many people, including my friends and family, might be dealing with these challenges. I was also surprised to learn about the different factors that can affect mental health, like stress, relationships, and even physical health. It opened my mind to how important it is to talk about mental health and support each other, as many people may be struggling quietly.
