Math Unit 3 Reflection

In this unit, I learned about percentages, tax, tip, and interest. We learned how to find percentages of numbers, which has allowed us to calculate real life problems such as tax, tip, and interest. We not only learned about the equations, we understood why.

Something that was new to me was simple interest. Coming into the unit, I though that simple interest would be simple, but now I understand how much more difficult and complicated it actually is,

Something that was interesting was the fact that this unit was one of the most helpful units when considering how relevant they are in real life.

Something that was tricky was remembering all the principles and formulas, but I managed to push through in the end.

Social Studies Visual Presentation

Our task was to create any kind of format, digitally or physically, to explain and introduce the positives and negatives of the transportation or communication we chose. I chose to do a film about my transportation, ships, because editing has always been something I have enjoyed doing and is an ability I have more confidence in compared to other formats. In addition, I believe that films have a unique and captivating way to hook the audience, since if you do it the right way, films can be not only informing but also entertaining to watch.

One thing I think I did well on was being able to incorporated all the needed information in the least amount of time used, as I don’t want the audience to get bored.

One thing I found challenging was finding all the supplies for my video, because it was really hard finding them on youtube since my transportation was very specific: Cargo ships. In addition, I needed them to be in a 16:9 format, so that just narrows down my usable sources even more.

For next time, I will try to work on managing my time better, as I had to work a bit extra from home even though we got plenty of time to work on this project.

Social Studies Unit 2: Essay

In this activity/project, we had to research our transportation or communication. For me, I chose a transportation: Ships.

First, we researched. We were told to find articles online that are relevant to out topic, print them out, and annotate them with highlighters using the “key” we created.

Next, we chose a researched organizer to organize all our information. We put main information from our articles onto the organizer, to help us sort different information from one another, and to get rid of irrrelavent information.

Finally, we put all our information into another document, where we made them into paragraphs along with citations and transition words, to make the information into actual sentences. We also revised and edited our essays by talking to peers and teachers.

In this project, I think I did well on organizing my time well. Time management has been something that I have had trouble with for a long time, but I feel like this project, I managed to produce a decent quality work before the deadline despit I skipped a day of school.

However, I think something I struggled more on was finding relevant articles and sources to my topic. I managed to find a way to solve this problem by shifting my focus more on cargo ships and shipping, since I found more articles on that.

Moving on, I would like to continue to manage my time well, and also produce better quality work.

Me as a Collaborator

When you were placed in new table groups

When i as placed in new table groups, I think I did fine communicating and working with my friends. I think I improved on staying focused and on ask, and not gettinf distracted by my table mates.

When your table decided who to put things away

I would say i didn’t do a really good job at this, because I wouldn’t volunteer to do so, but when my group decides I should do it, I always do it without complaining about it being unfair.

When it was time to turn and talk

When turning and talking, I find it hard to stay on topic, but I usually get the work done and manage to discuss about the topic.

Contribution to class

I feel like although I am not the best contributor, I always make sure to ask questions if I don’t understand something. I also make sure I try to volunteer to answer questions when asked.

Working with parters in unit 2 to review

I think I did well working with my partners, since I managed to not waste any time getting feedback and later implementing them onto my speech presentation, which has helped me improve a lot.

Working with my partner in unit 1 product branding

I think in that project, my teammate and I got off to a rough start, since we were getting distracted often. However, after a few minutes, we got back on track and managed to work together to produce a pretty goof product branding.

Grade

I think would give myself a meeting, because although I’m not the best contributor, I actively raise my hand and ask questions. Also, I think I give good effort when in discussions.

Another student

I think another student would describe me as an active contributor, because I participate a decent amount.

Improvements

Starting January, I will try to volunteer to answer more questions, and stay completely on ask in partner discussions.

Unit 2 Summative Reflection Portfolio

My summative CERER ^

My summative outline ^

How do you think you summatives compared to your formatives?

I think my summatives were a lot better than my formatives, and I think that is because of several reasons: First of all, I think I studied more for the summative after not meeting standards for the formatives, which resulted in my coming more prepared, confident, and ready. Second, I think I talked to Ms. Devin before the summative which also contributed to me doing better. Finally, I think I just learned from a lot of my mistakes from the formative.

What are you proud of?

I am proud of being able to come back from some bad grades. I think the bad grades really messed up my confidence for this unit, so I am pretty proud of being able to come back, study, and get good grades in the summative. I also think I did pretty good on my conventions, pitch, and outline.

What were some challenges for you?

Some challenges for me was definitely finding the right piece of evidence when writing my CERER. Having irrelevant evidence was were I struggled in my formatives, so it was definitely pretty difficult for me during the summmative.

How effectively did you use feedback?

I think I used the feedback from the formatives pretty well, since I used it to have an idea on what to work on with the AI bot. This led me to do much better in the summative.

If you could redo the summative assessment, what changes would you make?

If I could redo the summative, I would practice finding evidence more, because I don’t think I am really confident at that.

What advise would you give yourself for unit 3?

I would advise myself to focus more in class, ask any questions I have, and honestly just study even more. I think studying more from the formative has helped a lot for me in the summative, and II think if I study more, I could do even better.

Set one goal for future work

My goal for future work is to focus on it, to not procrastinate when working on it, and to make use of my time more wisely so I don’t have extra homework when I get home.

Decide Your Decision

The DECIDE model can be very important to making the right decision especially for teenagers, because it provides a very clear step-by-step procedure that eventually get’s you to a decision. It first helps you define the problem, then explore your options, then consider the consequences, identify your values, decide what to do, then finally evaluate your decision.

During this unit, I also learned a lot about drug use and the effects they could do to your body. I learned what drugs are, then learned that they could cause both long-term and short-term health problems such as addiction, cancer, short-term happiness, and possibly short-term stress relief.

Math Unit 2 Reflection

In this unit, I understood scale: I understand how to find and use the scale and scale factor. I know that to find how many times a scaled copy is of the og, you have to multiply/divide the scale factor. I also understand what a scale is.

Something that was new to me that I learned was the scale and how to use it correctly.

Something that was interesting was how you can implement this unit normally in real life, like when you are using maps, and drawing/looking at blueprints or prototypes.

Something that was tricky was writing CERs for my work. I find myself struggling when explaining my work a lot.

ELA Unit 2 Formative #2 (CERER-Dystopian Characteristics)

I think I did improve a bit from last class since I got a slightly better grade although it still isn’t good. I also did decent on using evidence that is relevant to the claim.

Some challenges for me was finding a claim that is relevant to the main points in the story. This also led to some struggles with my reasoning.

If I could redo the assessment I would definitely study the rubric more carefully, and prepare more before the test, listen and focus better in class, and definitely use the chat bot more not only in class but also at home. I would also review the story more carefully so that I can be prepared going into the test knowing that I have a relevant claim for whatever story is given to me.

I would use the CERER helper and the convention helper more, because I think that’s where I need to improve on the most. I would also go back to the convention slides, since I didn’t understand a lot of things there.

Going forward, I would advise myself to pay better attention in class, constantly review materials, review the rubric more carefully, and reread the stories.

Soccer Reflection

Throughout this unit, the modified rules helped me grow as a soccer player since I learned to move the ball around and play different positions. I learned to involve everyone in the team, and how to create chances for everyone. Also, I wasn’t allowed to power shot so I learned to dribble better and get closer to the goal.

Unit 2 Formative #1 Reflection

I am proud of being able to identify what type of character the characters are in the story. also I was able to identify types of conflicts is certain situation in the story.

Some challenges I faced was I wasn’t able to identify let alone right CER’s about the windows and mirrors in the story. Also failed to identify the main conflict in the story, and I also wasn’t able to identify the dynamic character.

if I could redo the assessment, there are a lot of things that I would like to do. For example, I would definitely like to focus more in class, so actually understand what’s on the test. In addition, I would like to prepare more for the test and review the lessons.

To meet standards next time, as I said I will focus more in class and review lessons so I am coming into the test all prepared and confident.

Moving forward, I would tell myself to not be too cocky or confident about the test and focus 100% on any class any class.
