What will you do to improve starting in January?

i will start trying to raise my hand more in class

Social Studies Unit 2: Essay 

Writing this essay had a few steps, first i started with picking my communication/transportation. Then we done some research on this communication or transportation we have picked. we researched about the positive and negative impacts, how they affect the people who help fix the negative impact how they did it and why it was their responsibility.

one thing i did well on my essay was writing a good reasoning that supports the evidence and my claim. and one thing i still need to learn to do is writing a good sentence that connects the evidences with the reasoning then with the next evidence

DT UNIT 2 (RC CARS+3D MODELING+ELECTRONICS)

what are we doing ?

in this unit we are learning how to use onshape to print a 3D model in this case the remote controller, and we built and measured the parts of the race cars from TaoBao.

what are your strengths?

My strengths are giving new designs of the remote controller.

What are your weaknesses? Why?

My weakness using onshape, because it took me a long time to finish the on shape design.

how did you improve?

i improved by asking my friend and teachers for help, and i learned from them.

DT UNIT 1 (THE CLOCK)

what are we doing ?

in this unit we are learning about how to laser cut, and how to use inkscape, we used different materials to make a clock for our client

what are your strengths?

My strengths are designing the clock, and giving a lot of different ideas of how the clock should look like.

What are your weaknesses? Why?

My weakness is spray painting because i had to repaint the clock/ reprint the clock 3 times!

how did you improve?

i improved by putting the lighter colors on the bottom first, then the darker colors, and also i put a thin layer of colors instead of a thick layer.

 Math Unit 2: Proportionality and Scale Drawings

What do you understand about the topic?
I understand scaled factors and the difference between the perimeter scale factor and area.

What new info do you have?

I learned the math formula using the proportional relationship to calculate the area for the new shape/ scaled copy

What is interesting about the unit?

Something that i think that is interesting about the unit is how we could calculate the parts of any new shape by using just one formula.

What was tricky for you?
being able to calculate correctly, and getting the answers right.

ELA Unit 2 Formative #2 (CERER-DYSTOPIAN CHARACTERISTICS)

What are you proud of?

i am proud of being able to improve a bit from last class, i also think that my evidence and reasoning was written really well this time.

What were some challenges for you?

some challenges for me was just writing the claim in the CERER I couldn’t pick out which claim I thought was the best for my evidences and reasoning. another thing that is challenging for me was the conventions, I didn’t understand it yet.

if you could redo the assessment, what changes would you make?

If I could redo the assessment, i would like to change a claim with another one of the options that related to my evidence and reasonings.

what will you do between now and the summative to ensure you meet standards?

i would pratice on my claim and finding better evidences that matches my evidence and reasoning.

what advice would you give yourself moving forwards?

i would give myself a advice of practicing my CERER skills and i also give myself an advice to reread the question so then i understand it more so then i could get a better grade.

Unit 1 ELA Media Project Summative

Why did you choose your medium (e.g., video, comic, newspaper)?

i choose this type of media because i like to watch influencers and it could help me improve on what i understand about media.

How did having choice (compared to traditional assignment where everyone had to make the same type of project) affect your ability to reach the standard?

Having choice could affect my ability to reach the standard because i got to choose which one i thought would be easier for me to do and the one that i think i could get a exceeding for.

If this had been a traditional assignment where everyone had to make the same type of project (for example, a slideshow), how would that have affected your ability to reach the standards? What do you like or dislike about that compared to having multiple options?

it would had made me feel nervous because if someone else did better than me it would have made me reflect on myself alot. it would have affected my ability to reach the standards because i would be thinking of how someone else is better than mine. i liked how we could pick what we thought would be the best for us to get a better grade, and that we could also pick which one was more inspiring to us. but i disliked how we had so many options, i felt like it would be better if we had less options.

How did you improve from the beginning of the unit until now?

beginning of the unit i didn’t really have any idea of what bias article looks like. also i couldn’t understand why people put ads in their influencers videos. but now i understand ad’s are for them to earn money and bias articles have both negative and positive ones.

What are you proud of?

i am proud of being able to answer all the questions the parents asked and also when my teacher asked me question i could answer.

What were some challenges for you?

some challenges for me was not mixing up what connotation and denotation means.

If you could redo the assessment, what changes would you make?

if i could redo this assessment i would focus more on learning the connotation and the denotation.

What advice would you give yourself for next unit?

i would give me an advice to organize my time better.

Language Arts Formative Reflection

1. Purpose (RI.7.6): How well did you explain the influencer’s or commercial creator’s purpose in your analysis? at made your explanation strong, and what could you add to make it even clearer?

I explained really well of what the influencer or commercial maker was trying to do in both formatives. next time i could add how i know that they are trying to influence people, and give more reasonings.

2. Evidence for Purpose (RI.7.6): Did you use specific examples of language to show the influencer’s or commercial creator’s purpose? How could you improve the quality or clarity of your examples?

Yes I did use specific words or phrases from the video and i also gave a idea of how it could impact people. i could improve on giving ideas of why i picked this phrase or word and give more reasoning of why.

3. Vocabulary (L.7.6): How well did you explain the connotation of words or phrases from the video? What helped you succeed, and what’s one way you could go deeper?

I explained that the connotation of the words or phrases from the video not really good next time i could add some more reasoning. another way for me to go deeper is trying to understand more of what the connotation of the word is and not just a giving the meaning of the word.

4. Connection to Audience (L.7.6): Did you connect the connotations to the audience’s emotions and understanding? How could you make those connections stronger next time?

no i didn’t connect the connotations to the audience’s emotion enough. I could make the connections stronger next time by thinking more of what i would do if i saw this word/phrase.

5. Balance: Which part of the rubric (purpose or connotation) do you feel more confident in, and which part do you want to practice more? Why?

I felt more confident in the word/phase and saying how it supports the purpose. and i felt like i need to practice more on what connotation means, because i didn’t understand enough of what connotation means, i also mixed up what connotation and denotation is.

6. Growth: If you could revise your analysis, what specific change would have the biggest impact on your score?

i might have changed the type of media i used, and i also might have changed the type of language i used.

7. Future Application: How will you use what you learned from this assignment when you analyze another influencer video, commercial, or a different type of media?

the next time i analyze an influencers video i would try to see what is video is trying to tell me.

Social Studies Unit 1: Media Presentation

What are some examples of feedback that you received and then incorporated into your work?

Some feedbacks i got are giving more eye contact when presenting and to be more confident on.

Explain 1 thing that you are proud of from this unit. 

I am proud of being a lot more confident than before since i was always scared of presenting and talking in front of people.

Explain 1 thing that you want to keep working on. 

One thing i want to keep working on is the video because i want to perfect my video and perfect my persentation.

bias is when you think treat two different perspectives differently and being better to one perspective then the other.

Explain 1 positive outcome of people having the same perspective  

people having the same perspective wouldn’t start fighting/wars.

Explain 1 negative outcome of people having the same perspective.

nobody would be unique and the world would be very boring. 

Math Unit 1: Proportional Relationships

what the word proportional mean.

discovering new ways to calculate proportional ratios.

Designing the logo with my partner, at the end of the unit.

T: what was tricky for you?

what was tricky for me was doing the calculation in the final test. Also what i think is tricky is to understand about what we are learning.
