Storyline Math Project

My story was about Bob, a guy fresh to the society trying to open a Pizza shop, but during the way he faced a lot of problems, and me and my partner Penny helped him calculate these problems.

What I think I did well during this project was I really cooperated with my partner and I feel we really bonded together and worked really hard.

Something I think I can improve was maybe put even more detailed in the solving and writing giving more explanation. Or else me and my partner collaborated perfectly and did excellent work.

Something I could have changed next time is maybe scanning the diagram better because it showed up a little bit blurry.

Unit 2 Reflection & Semester Check-In

Part 1: Unit 2 Topic A and B Test Reflection (Functions & Statistics)

A. Evidence of Your Best Thinking

Select two questions from your Unit 2 test that best show your thinking.

  1. I chose Question 2 as evidence of my best thinking because this question included all about Functions and slopes and what we learned in the past weeks.
  1. I chose Question 3 as evidence of my best thinking because it shows my understanding in topic 3 of unit 2. It shows how I understand how to correctly use the word “predicted” and interpret data.

B. Skills Reflection

Complete each sentence honestly and thoughtfully.

  1. Throughout Unit 2, I improved the most at understanding how to solve the formula y=fx+b. I now really understand the formula and how it works.
  1. One skill from this unit that I still need to work on is identifying functions, sometimes I still struggle to remember the difference.
  1. The biggest challenge for me on this assessment was brining in the formula for y-intercept in solving the problem.
  1. One strategy that helped me on this test was that skipping questions I wasn’t so confident on and coming back to it later, it really helped me to calm down and come back to it with a clear mind.

Part 2: Goal Reflection & End-of-Semester Check-In

A. Looking Back at Your Last Goal

Last unit, you set this goal: To participate more in class.

  • How well did you work toward this goal?
☐ Very well 😃 Somewhat ☐ I struggled with this
  1. What helped you make progress toward this goal? Not fearing to speak and always remembering this goal and reminding myself.
  1. What got in the way of this goal (if anything)? Sometimes all the people looking and staring is a lot of pressure when I want to speak.

B. End-of-Semester Self Reflection

  1. List three strengths you have shown last semester: 1.Open-minded 2.Handing in work on time 3.Critical thinker
  1. List three areas you still want to improve: 1.Participate more in class 2.Aim for L4 3.Resilience

C. New Academic Goal Moving Forward

Complete all parts:

  1. In the next unit I want to continue my goal from before because I feel like I didn’t finish it.
  1. What might get in the way of this goal? My shyness and scared of answering.
  1. What will I do if I get stuck or need help? I will make my friends encourage me and make me continue.

Art Reflection Unit 4: Mixed Media

The key message I want the audience to feel/ or interpret is my positiveness. When they look at my artwork, I want them to feel my positive energy and get the feeling of how I view myself. I don’t want to pass down negative energy, I want the audience to look at my artwork and get influenced by it.

During the creation, some risks I took was that I couldn’t really find the right symbol to put on my artwork, so I tried what I was good at; sewing. Before I planned to do all my symbols sticked on by a magazine, but after, I changed my mind, because I really thought that sewing which I enjoy in can help me represent myself better.

PE Reflection: Swimming (water polo) and Invasion Games (soccer)😭

Swimming: What I learned in the swimming unit is that I learned how to play water polo, follow instructions and scored the goal. I really earned how to collaborate with my teammates and score a goal🫡

Something that I could improve on is that maybe I could participate more give more effort even though i’m a slow swimmer. Because sometimes I swim to slow to get the ball.☺️

Soccer: What I leaned in the soccer unit is that no matter how bad or good you pass the ball you could always do it again, don’t focus just on that one kick and always collaborate.🧐

Something I could. have done better is that I could have been more aggressive in passing and not being scared of the ball.🥹

Meeting Kool Koors Reflection😎

Cultural Influence on Aesthetic Choices:

Kool Koor’s background in the graffiti culture of drawing on the streets fundamentally shaped his style: speed, boldness, and efficiency. The techniques he demonstrated; quick, confident lines and a focus on simple, powerful forms, are a direct result of the high-risk environment where he began. Creating art illegally meant working rapidly to avoid getting caught, which discouraged him to draw in detail. 😌

Environmental Impact on Art Creation:

The shift from the unpredictable streets to the controlled studio (or classroom) significantly impacts an artist’s process. In the streets, he has to work fast, in the studio, he has time to really create artwork. Kool Koor’s core style of bold lines and contrasting colors remained, the studio allowed him to transition from the fast lines to self-identity-conscious lines. He could explore the meaning behind the symbols rather than just the act of creating them.😇

Personal Reflection on Aesthetic Development:

For my self-portrait mixed media artwork, I want to express this idea by incorporating elements that reflect my own background. Rather than just drawing my face, I plan to use my unique traits and experiences as visual deep meanings. For example, I could use colors, like bright colors in the warm side to show my positivity I always show in school, also textures that I want to put on to create an interactive thing for the audience to show how much I like to socialize. I can also express my personal experiences later.😄

Semester 1 Active Learner Post Science 🌎

My current goal for the next semester for grade 8 science is to talk up more in class. When the teacher asks a question, I will try my best to positively answer even though I may not know the answer. I think positively answer and speak up in class can make me pay more attention in class and participate and interact with the teacher. It is a good way to learn and make my confidence grow in public speaking and expressing myself.🤯

I think some progress I have made towards my goal is that I always try to answer questions in class and positively respond to the teacher when he has a question.👍

What are you most proud of in this class so far?

I think something i am most proud of so far is my meteorite project poster, i payed a lot of effort and hard work in making it so i think its one of the things i am most proud of.😁

What has been your biggest challenge in this class?

I think my biggest challenge is maybe being detailed with my language and truly understanding some concepts, like i am always not detailed enough in explaining things during a CER and sometimes i forget and misunderstand some concepts, like one of the 3 for 3’s i recently did.🫡

How have you demonstrated the qualities of an Active Learner — preparing effectively, participating fully, collaborating well, staying positive, and reflecting to improve?

I always prepare what i need for class every time and i come prepared, maybe one thing i can improve on is my precision in language and my understanding in languages.🤗

Social Studies Unit 1: Inquiry Question Reflection.🧐

What are you most proud of in this class so far?

I think something i am most proud of for this class is my inquiry question poster where i spend quality time and hard work to research on things that i actually really enjoy.🥳

What has been your biggest challenge in this class?

I think a biggest challenge i face so far is that i always fail to sometimes keep up and i need to spend extra time on these things.😠

How have you demonstrated the qualities of an Active Learner — preparing effectively, participating fully, collaborating well, staying positive, and reflecting to improve?

i think a quality i showed active learner in is that i always seek for chances to improve and positively use feedbacks, maybe something to improve is not to procrastinate so much in class and get work done.🤭

Unit 1 Sticker Project🤪

This project was using our knowledge to create a sticker and I really enjoyed it, it was really fun and I could use my creativity and innovation on this project. Not only ddi it give us a chance to design but also combined what we learned into this too.😗

What I think I could improve is that maybe if I could make my sticker more complicated and added more detail to the whole thing, then maybe my sticker would be better.😌

Unit 1 Reflection and Goal Setting🥹

I chose question #1 as evidence of my best thinking because I translated/ rotated the pre-image to image without any making any mistakes and labeled the mapping rule correctly.😝

I chose question #8 as evidence of my best thinking because it shows my critical thinking skills and how I can separate and differentiate what these triangles have in common and what not.😋

Throughout this unit, I improved the most at my understanding of how dilation works and how the different way of moving the image works (ex. rotating, reflecting, translating, dilating.)👩‍🦰

I feel that I still need to work on identifying the different theorem’s (SAS, SSA, ASA) and correctly marking them as congruent.👎

List three of your strengths so far this year.

  • I never give up so easily on working
  • I always try my best even though sometimes it may be difficult
  • I never hand in my work late.

List three things you want to improve on in the next unit.

  • I want to be a faster learner
  • I want to get better grades for math
  • I want to improve on identifying questions

In the next unit I want to set a goal to myself of being more brave and talk up in class, talking up in class can help me become more attentive in class and pay more attention. to achieve this goal I will try my best and if I am stuck I will telll my peers to remind me to talk up.🌹
