Soccer

What Did I Learn?

I learned how to time defensive tackles better and communicate with my backline to cover gaps, making our defense more solid.

What Challenges Did You Face?

Offense was not as good. My shots were inaccurate, and I was slow to get into attacking positions. I need to practice shooting technique and sprint speed.

What Are You Proud Of?

I’m proud of my defense. I won the ball cleanly, blocked shots, and cut off passing lanes, which helped keep our goal safe.

Are You Looking Forward to This Unit Next Year? Why?

Yes! I love playing defense and want to get better at offense, so I can contribute more to both sides of the game.

Badminton Unit

What Did I Learn?

I learned how to use a precise drop shot when I’m close to the net. During our practice games, my teacher dropped me a lot, showing us how to control the shuttle’s speed and angle to land it softly just over the net. This gave me plenty of opportunities to practice, and I’ve started to feel more confident in using this shot to catch my opponents off guard.

What Challenges Did You Face?

My underarm is not really good. I think it is because I am too slow and I didn’t get into the ready position in time and I really think I should work on that. I also ned to work on the clear shot because if I can’t hit it to the back, my opponent can smash.

What are You Proud of?

I’m really proud of my smashes and drop shots. My smashes have become more powerful and consistent, and I’ve gotten better at placing them in the corners of the court to make them harder to return. My drop shots have also improved a lot; I can now land them reliably just over the net, forcing my opponents to run. Most importantly, these are the shots that win me the most points.

Are You looking Forward to this unit Next Year? Why?

I’m definitely looking forward to the badminton unit next year! I love the fast pace the game requires, and I always have a great time playing with my classmates. It’s such a fun way to stay moving, and I’m excited to keep using the skills I’ve learned this year.

Dystopian Fiction.

What did we do

We learned about dystopian fiction while reading the giver. We learned about the characteristics for it, and found examples from the book. We also wrote academic paragraphs and discussed in small groups.

What did I learn

I built vocabularies and learned how to write academic paragraph. Also, we now can discuss about a book in a small group. Most importantly, we learned about what dystopian fiction is.

What worked

I can use some of the vocabularies I learned, I can use ai to help me learn, and a lot of things. the discussions worked really well, I think it is helpful for remembering the important parts of the story and get some ideas from others.

What did not work

I think I could do better in writing paragraphs. I could write it, but I think I could do better. I think I could improve if we get more time to practice in class, not as homework. I also need to improve on the vocabularies. know them but I won’t try to use them in my essays. I think we could use a better ai. It might help, but I’m not sure.

Personal relevance

The skill of writing an academic paragraph might help me when I am in HS. It might be one of the questions of one of the tests. I could try to include one in an essay. Learning how to use ai to learn might help me by letting me learn more efficient.

Roller Coaster L4 Lab and Modle

we started by completing an investigation to determine the relationship between the potential energy and the height. to find it, we built a rollercoaster and test if the rollercoaster will work on each height. The rollercoaster work the best on the top so there is enough potential energy only on the top. In conclusion, if the height increase, the potential energy will increase.

Unit II – Ötzi Unit Reflection

What Did I Work On?

I worked on an Ötzi case which is about an iceman who has been frozen for 5300 years. The case is “is Ötzi the iceman murdered”. I wrote a Claim, Evidence, Reasoning paragraph about it. I am on the murder side. I also learn about open and closed questions.

What Did I Learn?

It helps us not to repeat old mistakes and hold onto what worked well before. It also connects us to the people who came before us, keeping their stories and lessons alive. Knowing the past, we can predict the future and understand us better.

What Worked?

I am proud of the CER paragraph because I think it is good and gives specific evidence on why I think Ötzi was murdered. For example, the arrowhead in his shoulder clearly shows that someone tried to murder him. Also, it might be the main reason of his death.

What Did Not Work?

I think I did badly on the trial because I was not prepared enough at it and had to let my partner speak for most of the time. Also, I think I need to prepare a better answer to the questions. I should’ve written more in the open-ended questions.

Personal Relevance

These collaboration and communication skills matter for my future because a lot of jobs require working with others. Being able to listen, share ideas clearly, and solve problems together will help me do better in my life. They’ll also make it easier to build strong relationships with peers later.

Egg car challenge

IMG_0260.mov

What did I do?

I designed and built an Egg Car to keep an egg safe when rolling down a ramp and hitting something, following rules about materials, time and how big the car could be to make sure it worked.

What did I learn?

Newton’s First Law is shown when the egg tries to keep moving when the car crashes—this is called inertia, so the egg seat was needed. Newton’s Third Law happens when the car hits the wall, and the wall pushes back with the same strength in the opposite direction. Also, Newton’s Second Law is about how the car’s weight and speed affect how hard the crash is, which is why a crumple zone is important to make that force smaller.

What worked?

The egg seat worked really well, stopping the egg from moving when the car hit the wall, so the egg stayed safe.

What did not work?

The crumple zone could be better; it didn’t soak up all the crash energy, so the hit was still pretty hard. To make it better, I would use more bendable materials in the crumple zone to spread out the force more.

Personal Relevance

Now, I know that real cars use safety features like these—seat belts like the egg seat to fight inertia, and crumple zones to handle crash forces, all based on Newton’s Laws, to keep people safe in cars and trucks.

Science Ballon Cart

What Did I do?

We made a ballon cart. We used a ballon, 2 straws, a plate, and glue and tape. We used it to learn about Newtons law of motions.

What Did We Learn

Newton’s first law says object at rest will stay at rest and object in motion will stay in motion unless acted by an unbalanced force. We see this law in action when we the cart started to move. It doesn’t move unless the air comes out and made an unbalanced force. There is also the second and third law. We see them when we do the investigation about the relationship between the weight on the car and the distance it traveled. also, the cart itself is moved by Newton’s third law. The air comes out from the ballon pushed the air behind it and it pushes back.

What Worked

The design worked well because it can travel very far and even though we didn’t win the race, we did well and better than a lot of people. Some people put the smaller straw for the ballon, but that made it slower, and we didn’t do that.

What Didn’t work

I struggled to work with my partner when we are making the cart. I think we don’t has to blow the ballon to big, and don’t tie the ballon too tight but he think the bigger, the better. I just let him do it and the ballon actually popped and that teaches him.

Personal Relevant

Doing this challenge teach me the Laws of Newton. Knowing these laws will help me because they let me gauge how much effort to put into everyday tasks, like pushing a stroller or stacking boxes without straining. They also make sense of small, frequent moments, like why a door swings back when I push it or why a toy car keeps rolling until it hits a wall, so I move through daily life with clearer, more intuitive awareness.

Art project

I am proud of the lantern I made. Even though it doesn’t look like one, I tried hard and faced challenges and I think I did fine. I used plaster to make it, and I really tried to make it smoother. I learned how to connect plaster smoother than what I did before.

French Reading

66c6c5d698f06abcbe2ad3d18b2970bb.webm

this is hard because the sound of the letters is different than English so I can’t guess

the feedbackComment: You introduced yourself very well. You only need to work on the pronunciation of the words that you like / dislike because I couldn’t understand them well

I am proud that I read it correctly.

French country project

What was the task ? What you needed to do to be successful ?

This is my project Describing a country using French as their official language. I chose Monaco because I like F1 and there is a Monaco Grand Prix. I need to use the simple words that I learned in class and I can’t use translator to translate most of the words so it is really challenging my understanding of the words.

The “French project Monaco.pdf” introduces Monaco in multiple aspects: It is in Europe with Monaco Ville as its capital 1; its flag has red and white 2; it has 31 million inhabitants (note: actual data may differ), men called Monegasques, women Monégasque, and National Day on Nov 19 3456; major sports events include F1 Monaco Grand Prix, Monaco Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters and Monte-Carlo International Show Jumping 789; national animals are hedgehog, European rabbit and wood mouse 10; currency is Euro, with 1 Euro equal to 8.2447 yuan

What is the feedback the teacher gave you?

Comment: Good job Milton ! Your presentation is good. You researched about Monaco. You made a great description of the location and capitale of Monaco. You misspelled COULEUR. You also found how men are called in Monaco, what about woman ? You did mentined the national day. I really like the 3 sport events you mentioned about this country. Well done !

what are you proud of

  1. Covers key aspects of Monaco: geography, flag, basic info, sports events, national animals and currency.
  2. Provides specific details, like the flag’s red and white colors, three national animals, and 1 Euro = 8.2447 yuan.

What are some areas of improvement

There are some grammar and spelling mistakes(I spelled Couleur wrong) and I think I could do better.
