One thing I did well in this unit was engaging in the activities which was one of my goals in the 3rd unit. Another thing I did well was following directions and practicing serves such as under hand back hand etc. I was able to hit the birdie in the wanted trajectory most of the time. I was able to hit the birdie far then hit it close in order to score some points.
List of serves I did
Back hand serve
Backhand serve
Fore hand serve
One thing I could work on for the next unit is the overall performance. Next unit I wanted to get more physically active in games, and improve on applying critical feedback quickly instead of over time. In order to this I could get more physically active outside of school and practice to improve my performance in class.
I would like to improve on Spanish to be able to articulate my ideas better and improve my fluency in Spanish. I would also like to improve my understanding of Spanish to properly respond to scenarios.
What I would do
Spanish
In order to achieve this goal I will practice more outside of school, and contribute better in fluency activities in order to improve. I will also improve my vocabulary by practicing speaking Spanish outside of school, in order to articulate ideas better.
Band
In band I could also practice out side of school for around 30 minutes to improve my sound quality. I will also listen more carefully to the specific notes on each piece in order to improve my tone. This will help me construct more constructive feedback.
In this essay the progress started from frantic to a more peaceful end. In the process of gathering information from sources. I found it hard to find useful sites as most were either too long, or required money to access. This made me find websites that were not ideal. Thankfully for my last source I was able to find a good one and was able successfully annotate. While writing the essay was easier it was still somewhat chaotic with me finding it hard to find evidence in the first two sources I found. Thankfully the reasoning, intro, and conclusion was much easier. Allowing me to finish my essay.
One thing I did well in my essay was fitting my evidence with the claim, writing the claims, and citations. In order to improve and ascend my work, I could better connect my evidence with reasoning in order to make it better.
U In this unit I understand basic percentage equations including new value minus old value divided by original value times 100 equals percent change. So on. I understood the lesson plans, and how to effectively show my work in neater writing to express my work better.
N Some new information I learned was 1 new type of percentage formula that being percent change formula. While I struggled to understand it at first at the ned of the unit I chose to do my project on food so that I could better show percent change. I also learned some new vocabulary that being percent change, commission, and percent rate.
I Some Interesting ideas in this unit was the different method of teaching percentage. In my old school I learned percentage in a very different way. Another interesting aspect of this unit was the final project being involved with connecting the idea with a real world element, Rather then having a unit/final test to prove your understanding. With presenting, and preparing the speech veing very different with my original way of learning.
T Some tricky aspects in this unit for me as I have mentioned early was memorizing certain equations to others, But like I said before, I believe that I now fully understand the equations. Another tricky aspect was finding information for the final topic. In order to find the statistics I had to very carefully differentiate information that was outdated and watch out for inflation and pricing increases. as such to get relevant data I used the most recent data from both restaurants .
The essential question that I chose to answer were how do our body systems work together when we play our favorite sport? Instead of learning much new information i instead broadened and deepened my understanding of Human Body, and cells. Examples of this is how the mitochondria deeply works with the respiratory system to provide the body with ATP, and oxygen. I also learned about how the ER and SER work for protein synthesis. This supports the idea of the body is a system of subsystems as now we know at a molecular level how body systems and organelles work together rather then just body systems.
Part 2
Stations Activities (Organization of Life, Body System Interactions, Specialized Human Cells)
Self-directed notes (Human Body and Cell Notes
These two were the best choices for me as I thought these two were the most straight forward. With little distractions in the process. I also enjoy the idea of self study, instead of big group activides.
Part 3
To improve in this unit I would like to improve on my models to make them bigger. My current models were quite small making it harder to label and put details. To improve I would like to make the models bigger and therefore improve.
The intended audience for this piece is oppressed people, or generally people who have been wronged by the government. The main message though is more centered by the idea of constant surveillance of the government, bad people and more. It speaks of an idea to rebel to recognize the governments lack of personal privacy and to speak out to protect privacy rights.
Some design choices I chose to represent my message was using a catchy/memorable message to linger in the audiences minds. Open your eyes, Privacy is a myth uses strong, language and a clear message to challenge a widely held but unexamined, idea. The other design choice I used in this project was color psychology. Using a gray emotionless back round represents a soulless environment. Contrasting this with bright red makes the red stand out and gives the connotation of danger ,blood, manipulative, and generally gives a evil vibe in this usage.
During this unit I learned and improved on the fundamental skills of soccer. Which includes dribbling, passing, shooting, and more. I also learned about more collaboration with other teammates to win. To improve I would like to get better hand eye coordination, to improve my accuracy in shots. I would also like to get more practice in defending shots. Something that helped me was the weather as I tend to do better in cooler weather(winter) rather then in hit climates.
U What did you understand in this unit? In this unit I understood everything in this unit. These include scale factor, scale, proportionality, and proportional reasoning. I also understood the need vocabulary and importance of good reasoning in math to further help explain, and show my thinking to a more transparent level. Some vocabulary I understood in this unit was scale factor, x ,value of x, length, width, etc. With knowledge of applying them into a CER format.
N What new information did you learn in this unit? At the beginning I already had knowledge and skill of the basic fundamentals of Scale as a whole. However I still learned new types of information in this unit. I learned more about the comparisons between proportionality, and scale when finding solutions to different types of problems. I learned how to apply my logic in to a CER format, and finally I also advanced my ability of all 3 concepts, making me more proficient when solving, and applying what I learned in this unit into other units.
I What was interesting in this unit? In this unit multiple things interested me. These mostly include of basics such as scale factor, with modeling etc. However the thing that was most interested me was the comparison, and similarities between proportionality, or unit 1. Applying knowledge from unit 1 and smoothly transitioning it to an unfamiliar context was the thing that was most interesting, and valuable for me in unit2.
T What was tricky for you in this unit? While none of the things we learned where a challenge for me, therefore was something that was tricky for me at that time. Which was reading the question carefully as there are multiple times where I could have easily gotten a question right but got wrong because I misread a specific part or miscalculated .
In this unit I learned a multitude of different swimming formations. These include back word.forward rolls, under the water, different underwater transitions, and learned about different fantastic entries into the water. What I did well in this unit is floating, entries, and underwater transitions. However some problems I could work on in the future is having more synchronization when I proceed to do my artistic swimming. I could do this by asking some of my teachers in my swimming practices on saturday.
These two clay peaces are interacted withe each other in different ways. For example my love of nature and natural environments are shown with trees fruits, etc. Another prevalent detail is their usage of blue. While their ideas are similar there are a lot of different symbolisms. The first clay project was based off of the story of Adam and eve with some more cultural influences. Except for an apple, I made it a Korean Tangerine which I am quite fond of think of as a connection to my own cultural heritage. While in the story the apple is seen to be about knowledge , I like to view my interpretation of the story as the tangerine being a ay to understand each other emotional creating emotional knowledge rather than academic knowledge.
The second piece I made was less about cultural history and more about my own self. Out of all the landscapes I could’ve shown I picked a forest with some black rocks. I chose this landscape as I felt it matched me as a person. The black rocks are represented in my asian heritage. Black rocks are typically viewed as self protection, academic, philosophical, and represent authority and power. For me the rocks are more philosophical and represent my inner thinking which is part of the reason why my project is called the Mind Scape. The tree is a mix of different cultural aspects. White is viewed as pure, virginity etc, and the overall shape of the tree is based on Koreas, national tree called Sonamu Where it represents ancient wisdom etc. So the young interpretation of white combined with Sonamu representing ancient wisdom, the two aspects combined symbolizes me as a learner.
This piece represents my in a more western style. While the style is not as like graffiti as I would as liked I still implemented some styles of graffiti mainly in the overlapping letters and different shaped letters compared to normal writing. The microphone actually does not represent my non existent love of music but a want of spreading my messages or perspectives using the microphone as amplification rather then music. The snake represents my sprit animal based on Chinese New Year. The music notes represent me as a add on to the microphone symbolizing teh good perspective or ideas I want to share in the future.
The overall projects show my determination and persistance as in the clay projects, there was complications due to the lack of stability and amount of clay I needed to use. Luckily I was able to compromise certain parts such as making the overall project small for enough details, or scraping ideas due to time constraints. Showing my persisatnce o time and resources by going around them with compromises.
