I want to improve on my Effective Collaborator skills.

My goal:

My goal is to develop team agreements, collaborating with others, and actively participating in class more, such as raising my hand, etc.

In language arts, when sharing ideas to the whole class or working together with table groups, I will try to share out my thoughts more and collaborate with others.

In social studies, when we have socratic seminars or group discussions, I will collaborate by listening to my classmates and adding on to their ideas.

Vision Board/SMART Goal Reflection

GOAL PROGRESS:

I think I made progress towards achieving a part of my goal because I was responsible with my homework, but I didn’t manage to excersise 3 times a week. Instead, I did excersise 2 times a week, and I do want to work more on excersising.

CHALLENGES:

I think for being responsible for my homework was pretty easy, but keeping my “streak” of excersising 2-3 times a week was sometimes hard because in some weeks I was busy and could not excersise much.

NEW INSIGHTS:

I think I didn’t really have new insights and continued to do the things I have to do.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

I’m proud that I managed to accomplish the goals from my vision board and I think it did help me to focus on more specific things rather than something less descriptive.

REVISED GOAL:

I think my goal right now is pretty good and I don’t think I need to change it.

SUPPORT SYSTEM:

I think I actually supported myself on achieving these goals because when excersising 2-3 times a week, I did practice on some of my gymnastics skills, and before I was not able to split my legs, but I kept on trying and I managed to do it in 3 months which all worked because I encouraged myself and did not give up.

NEXT STEPS:

I definitely want to work more on excersising 3 times a week and work on some new goals.

Social Studies Unit 2 Visual Creation

My topic was about cruise ships and I made an escape room. I also had some online activities to do which leads up to new levels for the escape room (such as shops and new stages), I also created an additional blind box to give to the people who participated on the activities.

One thing I did well:

I think I did well on planning out the whole escape room because at first i thought that it would be really complicated to do, but I slowly managed to plan out something pretty unique and it worked out pretty well.

One thing I need to work on:

I think I need to work on is maybe trying out a new stratagy next time or making a different visual creation than an escape room because now I think I have better ideas such as a 3D model or a blind box.

Social Studies Unit 2 Essay Writting

Steps I went through while writting the essay:

First of all, we had to do a graphic organizer on the things we have researched about our topic and then plan it out again. After I have organized the main things, I used those and added them together, creating new paragraphs with some connecting words. After I wrote my paragraphs, I revised them and got feedbacks to improve.

One thing I did well in my essay:

I think I did well on planning on the things I researched and organizing them because it was pretty hard to get the articles for the topic “cruise ship”, and I’m satisfied that I found the right articles and managed to write a good essay.

One thing I still need to learn to do:

I think I should work on writing my “reasoning” paragraph in more details and use the feedbacks given to improve it because I’m always bad at only the reasoning part and I want to improve on it.

Unit 3: Proportionality and Percentages

What do you understand about the topic?

-calculating percentages
-multiple formulas to calulate things
-calculating tip & tax
-percent equations
-simple interest

What new information do you have?

I learned new informations like calculating percentages, calculating tip and tax, simple interest, etc.

What is interesting about the unit?

I think calculating tip and tax was interesting and I learned how to do it, as well as calculating percentages because I think I learned new formulas of how to calculate them.

What was tricky for you?

Some things that were tricky was using the new formula to calculate the things because at first I didn’t fully understand the formula, so I had to learn it.

Unit 2: Cells and Human Body Systems Reflection

My essential question was “How do our body systems work together when we play our favorite sport?”

Some things I learned about cells and human body systems are the details about cells, which systems interact together, organelles, and more!

The cells group into tissues, and the tissues form specialized organs. These organs create interacting organ systems (subsystems) which helps maintain life.

I think making the blind box and the disection was the most impactful for me as well as the fact that is was memorable, so these might fit into the category of modeling activities.

Maybe participating more in class? But I don’t think there are that much times that we have to participate in class, so maybe challenging myself to work on the L4 part of the quiz and summatives rather than just earning a 3.

Language Arts Me as a Collaborator reflection

TABLE GROUPS:

When I was placed in new table groups, I didn’t really care that much about the people in my table and just got along with it, and eventually, we got close and were good table mates. At first, some of us always argued on who would put away and bring the folders, but we decided to make a new rule of whoever comes last will have to bring the folders and put it back.

PARTNER WORK:

When turn talking with a partner, at first I wasn’t really close with my table partner, but we got close because we talked during class and collaborated together. My partner for the dystopian story in Unit 2 was actually not someone that close, but I think we were really good at collaborating and managed to make a good story. For the Unit 1 product branding, I partnered up with my friend, so it was easy to collaborate and make the poster.

CLASS CONTRIBUTIONS:

To be honest, I don’t really raise my hand in class, but I do contribute in class discussions, so I think I should work on raising my hand and talking more in class rather than speaking when the teacher called my name.

RATING:

I think I would give myself a meeting because I meet the requirements like participating and listening during class.

How would another student describe your collaboration in class?
Decent? Because I DO talk in class and I’m not the type of person who doesn’t talk for the entire class time, I participate in class discussions and partner works, etc.

What will you do to improve starting in January?

I want to work on raising my hand in class time and practice on using some resources.

Language Arts Unit 2 Summatives Reflection

In language arts class, we had a whole unit on dystopian fiction, and we made an outline for our own dystopian story. Also, we had a pitch about our story, and took few summatives about the things we learned.

I think I definetely improved on my summative than when I took the formative because I prepared myself with the feedbacks given from Ms. Devin and also using the flint bot.

I’m proud that I got a better grade than the formative, and that I studied for the summative, so I am happy that I managed to improve my skills.

I wanted to review some things that I did not understand, and struggled when I didn’t really get what I was learning about at the start of the unit.

I used the flint bot and did some practice questions to help me study for the summative, and also looked at the comments and feedback given from teachers and the rubric.

I would still practice more by using resources like flint and take notes, practice questions, and other resources that can help me.

Ask questions if I’m not sure, use the flint bot and other stuff to make sure I understand everything.

L4: Artivist Piece reflection

In art class, we had a unit on impctful images. For this project, we had the choice of either creating a video or making a sticker based on the topic that we chose, and I chose to design and make my own sticker because I thought that it is really cool, and I have always wanted to make my own stickers!!

The title of my artwork is “education”, and the reason I chose this was because I really care about everyone, particularly girls and women to have the rights to get educated and learn. Adding on, the intended audience for this is anyone who supports or shows interest in the topic of education. Really, anyone can be a part of this by just using the sticker and support.

The first design stratagy I used is Visual Symbolism. The reason I chose this is because I have used some symbols in the sticker to represent education, like the education hat, or the giant pencil. The second design stratagy I used is Composition and Layout. This is because I wanted to empathize the message even more by using the texts and eye catching colors.

Unit 2: Proportionality and Scale Drawings

What do you understand about the topic?

-How to calculate proportionality

-Drawing scaled drawings

-Calculating the Scale Factor, and the formula for it

-Knowing the relationship between the scale factor and perimeter

What new information do you have?

I have new information like calculating proportionality, drawing scale drawings, calculating the scale factor, etc.

What is interesting about the unit?

I think scaling things are pretty interesting to do, and it is cool that it won’t really affect how the whole shape looks like, but is able to widen or shorten the lengths. I think drawing scaled figures was really fun as well.

What was tricky for you?

I think at first, I knew some elements about the topic, but there were also things that I didn’t know, so learning new things and understanding them was a little hard for me, and I definetely had to review it a couple of times. I think that the CFUs were also challenging for some questions, so I should review.
