Mix Media Self Portrait

Audience Insight: What key message do you want your audience to understand about you as they view your artwork? How did you communicate this message?

I want the audience to understand that I am a person that really enthusiastic person, and I really enjoy listening to music. I have shown that by adding specific artists that I enjoy listening to, or specific albums, such as the Sza’s “SOS” album, and Daniel Caesar’s “Never enough.” I have also added the app “Spotify,” since it is the app that I used the most to listen to music. Other than music, I also really love my cats, so I have added images of my two cats that I have at home. Another part of me that I want my audience to understand is that I value my childhood very much, so I have added images of toys to represent what I play with when I was younger. Another thing to represent my childhood is that I have also added images of myself in my portrait.

Risk and Experimentation: During the creation of your artwork, how did you take risks and experiment in order to effectively express your intended message?

During the creation of my artwork, I have tried to make my art piece unique by adding unusual symbols, such as bubbles, and etc. I have also taken risk on the part where I added lines, to connect my artwork together. I have taken these risks, since I want my express that I am a really chaotic person, so I had different shapes and symbols to represent that.

PE Swimming Unit Reflection

Throughout the unit, we have done water polo, and we have also worked on our collaboration skills, along with our teamwork skills. I really enjoyed this unit because it was very fun. One thing that I am proud of is that I can successfully pass the ball to other people, assisting them to score and I am also proud of the fact that I can make the shot.

One thing I need to improve on is to stay afloat, and tread water better because I often stand on the floor instead of treading the water like i’m supposed to do

Mini Unit; Kool Koor

1. Cultural Influence on Aesthetic Choices

After meeting Kool Koor and learning about his artistic journey, how do you think his background in the graffiti culture of the Bronx influenced his aesthetic choices in the techniques and styles he demonstrated?

After meeting Kool Koor, I have realized that many of his art work, and designs are based on his childhood preference of drawing, such as futuristic towers, and buildings.

2. Environmental Impact on Art Creation

Considering Kool Koor’s shift from street art to studio work, how do you think different environments (like the streets versus a classroom) impact an artist’s creative process and choices? In what ways did you feel these environmental influences while trying out his painting style?

From the streets to the classroom, Kool Koor usually works with graffiti art, using spray bottles and cans to spray on walls, but inside the classroom, we worked on canvas, because the environment has impacted the art he was working on as graffiti is toxic, and it is not good if we have everyone using spray cans in the classroom.

3. Personal Reflection on Aesthetic Development

What aspects of your culture or environment do you think will influence your future artistic choices for your self-portrait mixed media artwork? How can you incorporate elements from your own background into your artwork to express your unique identity?

I think that when I was younger, I like to draw curve, and circles, so now when I doodle, I don’t even think about what i’m drawing, but I will always end up drawing curves and circles. The thing that inspired me to draw circle and curves is my brother, because when he was younger he likes to draw a lot, but I thought that it was too complicated so I drew curves and circles instead.

Unit 1 Reflection and Goal Setting

1.    I chose question 1 from the Unit 1 Transformation and Congruence Celebration of Learning as evidence of my best thinking because I successfully answered it and met all the criteria. The question is about transformation of a pre image to the image

2.    I chose question 2 from the Unit 1 Transformation and Congruence Celebration of learning as evidence of my best thinking because I also have answered the question correctly for both A and B part. Part A is finding the center of dilation, which I found and clearly labeled. For part B, it is asking for the image’s coordinate of each corner. I have labeled each corner in the right order, and also in the right section.

3.    Throughout this unit, I improved the most at transformations, and dilation.

4.    I feel that I still need to work on proving congruency using ASA, SAS, AAS on triangles.

5.    The of my strength that I had this year is that I can understand each question with clarity. My next strength is that I am able to come to class on time, and take notes when supposed to.

6.    Three things that I want to work on next unit is to turn in my homework on time, as for this unit I still have 1 incomplete homework that I still haven’t completed yet. Another thing I need to work on is participate more in class, and lastly I need to be more active in class.

 7.    I need to get at least a 3 on my Unit 2 Summative, I will achieve this goal by reviewing each lessons if needed, and also check in with the teacher from time to times.

In the next unit, I want to turn in ALL of my homework within the dead line.

I think the reasonI forget or don’t do my homework is due to procrastination, and distractions, or I forgot to do it.

I could ask the teacher for support and help, or maybe I could check in with my parents.

L4: The Impact of Exhibitions

  1.  your experience interacting with the artwork

My experience interacting with the artwork is interesting, because I felt like the art work made by El Anatsui was very big in real life, and it was fascinating on how the people working for El Anatsui created this artwork piece by piece.

    2. your peers’ experiences around you.

My peers experiences around me is different than me, because we all have a different perspective, however this can benefit us because when we share our different opinions, we can gain more point of views on the same artwork, further much benefiting us by looking at the same thing with different point of views.

    3. the intentions of the exhibition curator (curatorial statements on the walls and the website.)

I think that the intentions of the exhibition curator is to show how the artwork forms the theme “Paths to modernity” by putting the artwork that was created about the same time period together, then slowly add in new artworks in another area, making it seem like “Paths to modernity”

    Social Studies unit 2 essay

I chose the topic mobile phone, and started to write about the positive and negative impact smart phone have caused throughout the years. We had 4 classes to complete the essay.

One thing that I can improve on in the future is that I can expand my evidence a bit by doing more research. Another thing I could improve on in the future is that I could make more connections throughout the paragraph.

One thing that I did good on is that I expressed my point very clearly.

    Language Arts Formative.

One thing that I need to improve on is to identify the conflict more clearly, by reading the passage more clearly. I need to understand the conflict more and be clear in the first place.

Things that I am proud of is that I understood the rest, such as the genre, and windows, and mirrors. I did a good job of describing the genre clearly, with description. I did a good job of connecting things in the story to real life, which represents mirror. For the window, I recognized what was the window, and also did a good job of describing.

    Socratic Seminar

The claim that we chosen is: those who do not learn from history, are doomed to repeat it. One thing that I did well in the Socratic Seminar is I payed attention to the speaker. I need to improve on being more participated and being more committed to speaking more.

    Social studies unit 1 paragraph

In the start of social studies, we wrote a CER about if 6th grade is the best year of my life. The teacher didn’t give us a lot of information on how to write this CER so I had to use what I remember from last year. The feedback that I got is to write less evidence and write more reasoning.

The recent CER that I wrote is the third one that I wrote. I improved by a lot because I wrote more reasoning then evidence and everything is aligned well
