Effective Collaborator
I really enjoyed the tasks that involved collaboration, such as when we thought about improvements for the school, or when we watched covers of songs and analyzed them. I think something thats good about these tasks is the fact that theres so much variety and different things, and so theres a lot of choices to choose from and complete. My favorite task overall was probably the task where we listened to this song called three notes. What my friend and I did was we went onto youtube and found a cover of that song, then made comparisons between the song and the cover. We noticed that in the cover it was just pure fingerstyle guitar, and there was no singing. Overall, I liked this section of the apprenticeship because I was able to work and have fun with other students whilst developing my skills.
Creative Learner
Creative Learner was probably my favorite section of tasks. The most memorable thing I got to do was show the teacher my card tricks. Cardistry and card tricks have always been a hobby of mine, and so being able to showcase some of them was really exciting. Additionally, we also all participated in a t-shirt design contest, where we competed in making a t-shirt design for the grade level. I think that the creative learner section really allowed us to have more opportunity and more choices to do what we want. I liked how some of the tasks weren’t super specific, and some were, giving us variety and letting us pick whether we wanted to do a lot of limited-decision tasks or a lot of really open-ended tasks.
Critical Thinker
For the critical thinker section, I had a lot of fun. I enjoyed playing games with my friends, such as gomoku and spelling games. I think overall all those these tasks are work to get done, most of them are still fun and enjoyable. I think usually in learning lab people are just by themselves and not socializing much, but I feel like these critical thinking tasks allowed us to bond more with our classmates.
Skillful Communicator
For skillful communicator the most memorable thing that i worked on was a buzzfeed quiz for my friends. It was pretty fun making it, and the reactions were good once I showed it to my inquiry facilitator. I enjoyed this section a decent amount and it was pretty fun.
Resilience
Resilience was a pretty open standard, and I think the thing that really showcased resilience for me was chess. Every since I was young, I was playing chess, and for a certain period of time I stopped playing for a while. A few years ago however I got back into it, and I became more passionate about chess than ever. What I ended up doing a few years ago was reaching the highest standard of non-professional chess level in China through a series of tournaments.

I learned the new skill of using Inkscape to lazer-cut wood. I was excited about this new skill as after I saw other people make designs I became interested. I learned about the whole process, going from the tools in Inkscape to connecting the design to the lazer cutter. A challenge that i overcame was that sometimes the whole piece would fall out instead of just some parts. In some cases the lazer also cut the wood too deep. After trying a few times, I eventually got my design to work out.

I would like to use AI for help and inspiration, but also add my own ideas to make sure my work is unique. While working towards this goal, a potential challenge or roadblock is being lazy. A strategy I could use to mitigate this is set a percentage or ratio for myself and ensure that when I turn in work the amount of AI used is appropriate. Lastly, I will talk to my friends about this to keep my on track

Today, we did a group activity acting out Scenario 5: “Too Many Voices”. in this skit, we acted out a group of 3 people arguing over which idea to pick for a group project. Through doing this skit, I learned that when you’re working in a group you should be open to your group mates ideas, and make sure you manage time wisely while working.

During this mystical journey, I learned something on every section. The three best skills that I learnt was properly citing a journal, how to use Gale Literature, and the proper expectation of students at the library.
Firstly, I’m looking forward to the new opportunities presented to us. In high school, there are a lot more activities for students to try out, including varsity sports, robotics, quiz team, MUN, and student-led interest clubs. These activities and clubs can allow us to further develop our passions. Personally, I’m looking forward to badminton in season 3, and I signed up for quiz team, which runs throughout the whole year.
Additionally, I am looking forward to the new facilities high school offers us. In high school, theres the maker space, 3D printers, wood cutters, art lab, and lots of more areas that we can try out new things. This gives us a lot of freedom, and opens the door to lots of new possibilities.
Lastly, I really enjoy the extra passing time between classes, and the extra time during learning lab and extended learning to work on schoolwork. This gives us a lot more time to make sure we get our work done, and make sure that we put enough effort into our assignments. Compared to middle school, although we have more homework, we also have more time to work on it during school time.

Today is March 1st, and I am working on my new song in Logic Pro X, after already have recorded some of the parts already.
