Printmaking was definitely my BEST unit throughout the whole year, I created a flag with an AWESOME pattern. Key learnings I got from printmaking are that prints with over 2 colours require a lot of extra work and effort.
Throughout the semester, challenges I’ve overcame were finding right pens and colours to use for the digital art making and the final art piece where I had to make a giant phoenix artwork which took REALLY long. Overall, the experience in art was AMAZING, I got to work with different people and express my culture and my personality.
Some of the things I included on my vision board is:
A famous quote – I included this quote because I want to attempt more in activities and be more brave in answering questions in class.
The word “Novice” – I included this word because when I first joined the school, I was still a novice in many of the subjects.
The word “Thrive” – I included this word because I will try my best to thrive in all of the subjects.
My Goals Are:
Improve handwriting
Improve on Social Studies
Less Screen-time
Transdisciplinary Transfer Goals (TTG)
The TTG I chose to reflect on the year is “Creative Learner”
Encore: Health
I will now share my progress in HEALTH…
Artifact 1:
For this artifact, I want to demonstrate my growth overtime at setting goals. I used to make crazy goals that I knew was out of my reach, each of my goals also always have obstacles that seemed impossible to dodge. So when we were making WOOP goals in health, I made the goal as realistic as possible, and it worked. My goals skills improved then which I am very happy about.
Artifact 2:
For this artifact, I want to demonstrate my growth overtime and how I was able to improve on my explanation skills. I’ve been working hard on getting better at this skill by contributing in health more, asking the teacher for help when I was confused. As seen above, I explained how I learnt some facts about myself.

I will now show my progress in ART…
Artifact 1:
One of the challenges I’ve face throughout the first semester of art was finishing everything in the class time provided. I had to come after school multiple times because all the projects I thought of was a really huge step. To overcome it, I will use time in class more effectively and getting less distracted from distractions.
Artifact 2:
This was one of the clay projects we did in Semester 1, I had to stay after school and I was so glad I did. It was such a successful trophy, I was really happy to see it come out like this. An area of success was I made it very creative and turned the coil into some kind of backbone shape to create a skull like trophy. One area of growth that could happen was that I could’ve made it more straight because it is leaning onto one side.
Core Subject : Social Studies π
Artifact 1:
I chose this artifact because it shows the script I wrote for my second ever debate. My debating skills aren’t the best, so I am really proud of what I was able to do. This shows growth because I had no debating experience, yet I can still put up an alright fight in our debate. My searching for sources skills also grew because we had to find sources to support our argument as the Con side. In the end, we won with an ease and gave the Pro side no chance of a comeback.
Artifact 2:
I chose this artifact because it shows my first essay writing. It shows growth because at first all my paragraph were choppy and were chronologically wrong. So after drafting for a while, my analysis writing skills improved and now I know how to make a paragraph more flowy and easy to read. In the end, I got a 3/4, for my first ever essay writing, this grade was already great to me.
Encore Subject : World Languages Chinese
I will now show my growth in Chinese…
Artifact 1:
This is our writing about “The quintessence of China” on Shufa. I chose this project because it was our first major and hard presentation we had to do and took my team around 3 days to complete. Another reason why I chose this artifact is because we didn’t do our best in this project and we could’ve gotten a 4/4 but we only got a 3/4. I show growth in video note taking because before we did this project, my video note taking skills always lacked.
Artifact 2 :
This is our writing about “The quintessence of China” on GuQin. I chose this project because this piece of writing spent us a lot of weeks to complete. In the end, we had to create a PPT and memorise all the information in the writing. I shown growth in this artifact because this time, unlike ShuFa, I tried my best and hardest without any Ai in writing all three drafts for this project. The PPT was also way better than ShuFa, which included many visuals and good information.
Core Subject : Maths π
I will now show my progress in Maths…
This is our sticker design artifact, where we note down all our steps in getting our final design product. I wanted to choose this artifact because I spent a long time on planning, typing, and drawing. I show growth in mapping skills. At the start of the year, I kept forgetting about the mapping rules, but during this project, I have shown lots of growth in mastering in this skill.
Artifact 2:
This is our Active Learner artifact, where the teacher checks our homework and mark it of as a tick/collected. I wanted to choose this artifact because it demonstrates my growth in understanding mathematical concepts and ability to engage with complex problems. Another reason why I included this artifact is because it shows my growth in time management, I used to finish homework at 10p.m, but as time passed on, I finished these homework at 8-9p.m.
Core Subject : English Language Arts π
I will now show my growth in English…
Artifact 1:
I chose this artifact because it was the longest essay I have ever written, it was also the largest piece of writing I have done except novels. This artifact shows growth by teaching me key factors of loyalty, fairness, and potential consequences from the 3 stories listed in the thesis. This essay was definitely a struggle because I don’t really enjoy reading books, so I struggled with finding key information for my writing. But in the end, I earned a 3/4 which I am very happy about.
Artifact 2:
I chose this artifact because the Reading Writing Passport is what I am best at. I organised my time way better in Quarter 2 than Quarter 1. In Quarter 1, I finished the whole thing around 2 days before the due date, it was very stressful because everyone wanted a conference. But I shown growth in this because in Quarter 2, I finished the whole thing around a week before the due date, it was way less stressful because people aren’t worried for a conference and it was overall very chill. Reading Writing passports definitely show me how important time management is, as Quarter 3 shows, I slacked a lot on time management, so I will definitely improve that on Quarter 4.
Core Subject : Science π§¬
I will now show my progress in Science…
Evidence of Organisation
My science notebook is well organised, carefully created artifact of my learning in science this year.
I always complete tasks and I rarely miss any assignments.
Evidence of Understanding Key Concepts
I have done pretty well overall in all of the 3 for 3’s, I struggled a little in the middle but quickly came back.
Evidence of Growth in Science Skills
Two CER samples showing growth in Standard 3: Engaging in Argument from Evidence:
I have improved a LOT on CER writing, it went from a one or two sentences into a whole paragraph. I understood how to enhance my writing on the Evidence and Reasoning section.
Encore : Physical Education πͺπΌ
I will now show my progress in PE…
Artifact 1:
I never really played floor hockey before, but throughout these lessons, I have improved a lot on defence and offence, I almost cleared every ball that came my way and saved a ton of goals. The matches always end 2-0 or 2-1, every game was very close. I got better and better at passing and shooting. Our team always succeeded because of communication and teamwork.
Artifact 2:
I used to play a LOT of basketball, but after joining SAS, basketball started fading away from me. When we had the basketball unit, I was quite rusted one the first day of the unit, I could barely dribble and barely shoot. But as the days continued, I started to get my basketball senses back and started to cross everyone and make most of my shots. My skills got better and better each class winning most of the games I played with my team.
Encore : VMM (Semester 2)
I will now show my projects and reflections in VMM…
This was our film score unit where we had to make a background music for a specific scene. I feel like I did amazing incorporating the sound effects and audio tracks, the main idea was the get a fast paced feeling.
Passion Project 4.0
My Passion Project is to make 4 original phonk songs with a partner and make a playlist out of it. So this is some pictures of me working on my Passion Project.
Strengths and Areas of Improvement
Strengths:
-Organisation, I was always able to get homework done and always bought necessary items.
-Determination, once I wanted to do something, I won’t stop doing it until I finish it.
-Curiosity, I am very curious in learning something that I never seen before.
Areas of Improvement:
-Confidence, sometimes I have a lack of confidence so I don’t contribute as much.
-Control of stress, sometimes I overwhelm myself with stress.
-Complexity and simplicity, I over complicate some simple activities and make as much harder than it needs to be.
I used to think that Social Media can actually help people from unhappy situations, but now, I think that media could influence teen mental health by making them depressed, stressed, and anxious.
Stigma
I used to think that mental health stigma used to exists because of jealousy, but now I think mental health stigma exists because people think they are better than others and can judge the people that have disabilities. A few ways to reduce stigma is having influential people speak this out, choose words more carefully when making comments, etc.
What I have learnt
I’ve learnt that mental health conditions can be natural and may be created because of negative moments in their lives. This is important for teens to know, because instead of teasing them for being depressed, anxious, overexcited, unable to control their body or emotions, we should help them and not give them harmful comments.
“Briefly summarize what your evidence revealed about the impact of cell phones on teen social-emotional heatlah and relationships? So the first evidence, we had an interview with Lele, he talked about how he managed his phone when he was doing assignment/homework/revision. Second evidence was a graph showing the amount of texting the teenagers do, and it shows percentages. The last evidence was a picture showing a man hugging another man out of a phone, this can mean many people rely on their phone to communicate.
What is YOUR opinion about how increased cell phone access might impact your social-emotional health and relationships next year? Explain why you believe this? Do you think your teachers and/ or parents would agree with this reasoning- why or why not? My opinion is that it really depends on who the user of the phone is. I believe this because the person using it is the person who is controlling the phone usage. I think that they will all agree because in the end, its the person who uses the phone that really controls it. If you set something like time limit, than your the one thats controlling it.
What strategies would help you to ensure your phone does not decrease the quality your emotional health and relationships at school next year? My strategies are to go on my phone at a specific time where my friends are playing or messaging. This won’t decrease my emotional health and relationships since I don’t go on it every hour or 30minutes.
Creating a portfolio, or blog is a great way to collect all the work youβve done throughout your academic career. You can include academic, athletic, and personal artifacts or experiences that you want to share with a wider audience. This is a great way to organize all your learning in one place and you can take it with you when you leave SAS.Β When you make your portfolio, you create posts that are categorized according to your subject. Some categories have already been set up for you, but if you need more categories you can add them as needed. Itβs important that your posts have the following:
An engaging title β this should not include the name of the subject since this is referenced in the category. Think of this as the first opportunity to engage and hook your reader!
Body β this is where you share your learning. This should include a combination of text and media in the form of images, graphics, and embedded videos. You should always consider how your post looks to your audience. Is it engaging and organized? Do they want to keep reading?
Category β select one that has been set for you or add a new category. Posts can have more than one category e.g. Humanities and Myself as a Learner
Tags – create tags that can be used as keywords to describe your post. Tags help organize your post a little more! Aim to have 3-5 tags for each post. For example, if you are posting about a novel you wrote, you might want the following tags: #Fiction, #MurderMystery, #Theme, #PlotDiagram
