Semester 2 Goal Setting and reflection.

Previous Goal: In the next unit, I want to demonstrate growth in math class by understanding the topics discussed in class and show consistency of understanding.

I have done very well with this goal because I have been paying attention to everything in class this way i was Consistently understanding the lessons from the class.

Last semester I have shown Organizational skills, Active learner skills, and critical thinking skills.

This second semester I want to improve even more on Critical thinking skills, time management skills, and organization skills.

This semester, I aim to build on my strong performance in math by continuing to engage actively in class. I will ask questions whenever I want to deepen my understanding of the material, whether during lessons or in one-on-one discussions.

Unit 2 Semester 1 Reflection CoL

Throughout this Unit I think That I did well because in the first CoL I did not meet the standards. However In the second CoL, I reached the standards which showed mastery over time. I did Pretty well on the critical thinking section along with the statistics and functions.

I chose question B from the L4 critical thinking, which was the hardest part of this test because I clearly demonstrated why the claim of a higher correlation does not always means a definite answer. I supported my answer with 2 reasons on why this statement would be misleading. I included information about the residual plot including various distances from the line, and gradually creating more separation from each other which was a trend. Along with the multiple outliers which proved inaccuracies.

I also Chose question B from the Statistics section of this assessment, in this question I was required to calculate a predication on the amount of distance a golf ball will travel after Interpreting a graph and finding the Y and X Values. I succeeded in this question because I successfully found the y values and the equation for the graph which then left me with the last step which was to calculate it.

Throughout Unit 2 I improved most in critical thinking where I Demonstrated thinking outside the box of a problem in order to find ways on why the correlation coefficient does not match the accuracy of the graph. One thing that helped me throughout this test was to really think about the problem in a practical scenario and consider thinking about what this it was requiring me to do, rather than quickly calculating.

Math L4: Designing a story problem reflection (PieceWise Function Project)

Our story was about a perfumery store and we discussed the different prices for the different types of concentration.

Our story was about a perfumery store and we discussed the different prices for the different types of concentration.

I am proud of my story in the piecewise function area where we discussed how there is a base price for a certain level of concentration and goes by 1 dollar per unit until it reaches the next level in percentage of concentration.

There was not a significant challenge besides coming up with the piecewise function which I am truly proud of because it represents the situation well in a practical scenario.

If I could improve one part of our project I would improve on answering other questions I would add to the document about deeper thinking rather than mainly substituting values into the function. Along with adding more detail when interpreting domain, range, and transitions between tiers and check for small inconsistencies in our written explanations.

My project helped me understand how piecewise functions work by illustrating how prices change based on different concentration levels in a perfumery. I learned to formulate a piecewise function that reflects real-world pricing scenarios, showing how different rules apply to different intervals of concentration.

Design Technology Unit 2: Robotics

Participating in the VEX Robotics unit has been an exhilarating journey into the world of robotics, where I developed hands-on skills and collaborative problem-solving abilities. Through activities such as the Sumo competition, Wall Racer, Lap Around the Classroom, and Cube Stacking, I not only learned about engineering principles but also experienced the importance of teamwork and iterative design.

Design Technology Unit 1: The Tissue Box

Throughout this unit, I delved into the intriguing intersection of design and functionality by focusing on creating a tissue box that embodies the principles of Modernism. This experience not only enhanced my understanding of design movements but also allowed me to engage creatively with the aesthetics and philosophies that underpin Modernist design.

PE Soccer Reflection

During the Soccer unit, I showed my collaboration skills by not only using my own abilities as a player but also by involving my teammates in the game. I communicated with them effectively, encouraging them to participate and make plays. I was good at shooting and dribbling, which helped create scoring chances. Additionally, I played as the goalkeeper, allowing my teammates to demonstrate their defensive skills and gain experience.

I also worked to create a positive team atmosphere by celebrating my teammates’ successes and giving helpful feedback. This teamwork improved our performance and made practices and games more enjoyable. Overall, my experience in the Soccer unit highlighted the importance of working together and supporting one another to achieve our goals.

In addition to working well with my teammates, I did well in important soccer skills like shooting, dribbling, and passing. My shooting was strong and accurate, which helped me score goals and create chances for my teammates. I practiced my dribbling to get past defenders and keep control of the ball. My passing was also precise, allowing me to set up plays and assist others in scoring. These skills not only helped me succeed individually but also improved our team’s performance overall.

Semester 1 PTC Reflection

Attending the conference with my parents and teachers was an enlightening experience. Hearing my teachers talk about my progress made me feel proud. They highlighted my strengths, like my engagement in social studies, curiosity in science, hard work in math, and creativity in language arts. It was heartening to know my efforts are recognized.

My parents were also pleased with the positive feedback, and seeing them proud made the experience even more special. The conference helped me identify my next steps, with constructive feedback guiding my goals. I plan to improve my writing skills and tackle more complex math and science concepts.

Overall, this conference not only celebrated my achievements but also provided a clear path for my future growth. I’m excited to embrace new challenges with the support of my teachers and parents.

Science Active Leaner Portfolio Post

I take pride in my deep understanding of various subjects, which I enhance by achieving high scores on Level 4 assessments (L4’s). My ability to effectively draw graphs further demonstrates my grasp of complex concepts and allows me to communicate ideas clearly. This combination of knowledge and practical skills empowers me to excel academically and contribute meaningfully to discussions in my field.

I have faced no major challenges in this class, which has allowed me to focus on my learning and development. However, I recognize that I could participate more actively in group discussions. Engaging more in these discussions would not only enhance my understanding of the material but also contribute to a more collaborative learning environment for my peers.

I am actively engaged for the most part, and this has enabled me to connect with the content and my peers in a productive way. Nevertheless, I feel that I can be an improved active learner by raising my participation level in class discussions. Through more frequent contributions, I could obtain a greater grasp of the subjects being covered, foster interaction among my peers, as well as strengthen the learning process for all parties concerned.
