Critical Thinking
Task 9: drawing obscure solutions
When I did this task, I picked the topic of how to save a cat from a tree with a watch, an umbrella, and a wheelbarrow. The process was interesting and a bit challenging because I needed to solve it as if it were a real-life situation, so a lot of accidents could happen when demonstrating this action in reality. Overall, critical thinking is a crucial skill that helps me grow as a person, especially in school. It encourages me to analyze information carefully and make smart decisions. Instead of just accepting things at face value, I learn to ask questions and dig deeper.
Moreover, critical thinking can also me handle conflicts. If I disagree with a peer, I can analyze the situation calmly and consider their perspective. The thought process used in my tests can also come in handy during tests and quizzes, critical thinking enables me to approach tricky questions logically, breaking them down into manageable parts. This skill not only enhances my academic performance but also prepares me for real-life challenges beyond school.
Effective Collaborator
Task 9: create a new fitness routine
During this task I reflected on the usual exercises I do at home, and the skill of being an effective collaborator because I also needed to consider the endurance of the people following my workout. So I ended up making some slight changes, providing enough rest and intensity in my routine. Further more, to improve in school, collaboration teaches me the value of teamwork and working together toward common goals. In group projects, I can share responsibilities and combine strengths.Additionally, effective collaboration teaches me important social skills. I learn to communicate openly, resolve conflicts, and compromise when necessary.
Skillful Communicator
Task 4: presentation; pitch an object
When I pitched my abject, the Vaseline lip gloss, I used the still of strong communication and persuasion. The process included making a script, understanding the object, and practicing my presentation, My pitch was very successful because my teacher ended up buying two of these lip balms.
Skillful communication is also crucial in school because it affects how I interact with teachers and classmates. When I express my ideas clearly, I can participate actively in class discussions and share my thoughts confidently. Additionally, effective communication helps me handle conflicts. When disagreements arise, discussing issues calmly and respectfully leads to better resolutions. Overall, being a skillful communicator plays a very important role in future real-life circumstances.
Creative Thinker
Task ten: bake-off
In this task I made creative cupcakes, which did not have a very good outcome. Even though the products were ugly, I had a lot of fun throughout the process, and I was able to be creative around parts like the flavor and frosting.
Creativity enhances my expression for different ideas, and it improving this skill can lead to many different-more surprising-results in the future. For example, an any project can become much more interesting if I add some creativity into it, and it will be able to show my unique voice and effort. This for of self-expression is important for building my identity and confidence as a student. Being a creative thinker also fosters curiosity, encouraging me to explore new topics and engage more deeply with what I’m learning. Overall, embracing creativity in school enriches my learning experience and prepares me for a world that values innovation.
Resilience
Task 5: mindful walking
This was the task I enjoyed the most, because it included exploring the school with my friends and helped cheer me up. This task also helped me realize how a little amount of relaxation can boost someone’s enthusiasm. So I think resilience is a vital skill in school, especially when facing challenges like difficult subjects or personal setbacks. When I encounter a tough assignment or receive a low grade, resilience helps me stay motivated and keep trying. This is defiantly a skill that I would like to improve on in the future, and this task is a great way to help.
Overall, resilience can help me deal with social pressures and conflicts. If I experience a disagreement with a friend or feel overwhelmed by extracurricular activities, resilience allows me to cope and find constructive solutions. I learn to manage my emotions and seek support when needed, which strengthens my relationships. Furthermore, the ability to bounce back from setbacks builds my confidence and prepares me for future challenges in life.
It was really fun teaching Ms. Chang how to use snapchat, she was really patient and it was a fun new experience!

creative learning in learning lab

Please remember to stretch before and after the routine so your body won’t get injured that easily.

I want to use AI as a learning helper, but always try to understand and do work on my own. I will know if I’m making progress towards my goal because I will compare the before and after of how I use AI to see if I become more responsible with the steps and understanding of AI. For this goal, I chose to talk about my specific goal to help keep me on track. AI is a very useful tool if we use it responsibly, it can help us a lot on information we aren’t sure about. Learning how to use it is very important, but we need to make sure we don’t develop a complete dependence on it.
I really think communication is an important aspect of life, whether it is online or offline. When people interact, it is important to respect everyone, and understand all their opinions. Have manners, and learn to compromise! Through class skits, I learned that wether online or offline, people need to ask for permission before posting sensitive content. And we must think about the concequences before taking action.

This is my first year in SAS, so I am excited about many things, but mostly about the activities that lay ahead. SAS has such a welcoming environment, and it also provides many activities that are great for pursuing my passions (such as art). The sports teams are also very competitive, and high school is very different from middle school. I love how SAS doesn’t have everyone immensely buried in schoolwork and stressed about grades. I think it’s great that being a freshman means trying many activities, and the start of my high school career. I don’t think anyone can ever be prepared for what may or may not happen in the future, so I hope that everyone can enjoy this fresh start, and work hard.

Why have a digital portfolio at SAS?
Creating a portfolio, or blog is a great way to collect all the work you’ve done throughout your academic career. You can include academic, athletic, and personal artifacts or experiences that you want to share with a wider audience. This is a great way to organize all your learning in one place and you can take it with you when you leave SAS. When you make your portfolio, you create posts that are categorized according to your subject. Some categories have already been set up for you, but if you need more categories you can add them as needed. It’s important that your posts have the following:
- An engaging title – this should not include the name of the subject since this is referenced in the category. Think of this as the first opportunity to engage and hook your reader!
- Body – this is where you share your learning. This should include a combination of text and media in the form of images, graphics, and embedded videos. You should always consider how your post looks to your audience. Is it engaging and organized? Do they want to keep reading?
- Category – select one that has been set for you or add a new category. Posts can have more than one category e.g. Humanities and Myself as a Learner
- Tags – create tags that can be used as keywords to describe your post. Tags help organize your post a little more! Aim to have 3-5 tags for each post. For example, if you are posting about a novel you wrote, you might want the following tags: #Fiction, #MurderMystery, #Theme, #PlotDiagram
