This unit was very interesting. We had to be in the high school gym, and 8 people per court it was a struggle at first; however, throughout the unit, we got somewhat used to it, and the more people it was to count points and tell what was in and what did not fall in. They would also help my badminton skills grow. My backhand serve got better with the help of my partners.

What we learned:
In this unit we learned about Identity and relationships. When we learned about Identity, we learned about gender stereotypes. How females are supposed to be: soft, weak, feminine, emotional, submissive to males. Female interests are supposed to be: Drawing, cooking, and fashion. Males. However, on the male side, males are supposed to act: Tough, not showing emotion, masculine, strong, “the protector”. Males interests are supposed to be: trains, Cars, deadlifting, sports, Females. We learned how these ideas prevent people to not being their true selves. Hiding their true selves can cause people to get depressed and cause mental health issues.

For our project, we needed to create a presentation about an unhealthy relationship. We chose to do Edward and Bella because both Bella and Edward are toxic towards each other. Our primary conclusions were that Bella and Edwards relationship idealizes Edward for being this strong and not showing unemotional behavior. This can cause guys to want to bottle up their feelings, which is not good for their mental health.

Important ideas:
The top-most important idea is not to fall for gender stereotypes and to show your boundaries and the difference between flirting and sexual harassment. Its important to not for stereotype and to be yourself because if you do you’ll be hiding your true self which causes mental health issues. It’s important to show your boundaries so you can learn how to say no to people so you don’t get uncomfortable. It’s also important to know the difference between sexual harassment and flirting, so you know how to say no.
I chose question 8 as my best work because it was the L4 question and I got it right. Another question I think that shows my understanding of this unit is the question critical thinker. I think I wrote a good explanation on why it’s a reflected image and not being transformed. Throughout this unit I’ve improved the most is everything because at the start of the unit I didin’t know how to do any transformations. I feel like something I should improve on is double checking my work becuase i often make careless mistakes like not counting it correctly.
So far, my 3 strengths have been turning stuff in on time, mostly understanding everything, and staying on task. Things I would like to improve on for the next unit would be double-checking my work. Next unit, I want to double-check my work more times. This is important because multiple times during the CFU and assessment I made careless mistakes. Something that might get in the way of this goal is running out of time or being to tired to check it again. Something i can do if i get stuck is ask for help from my teachers or classmates.
My teacher said to ask for help if I need it.
Our unit was about how we had an AI alien bot that didn’t speak English. We had to teach it how to speak English. I taught it was the 8 parts of speech and complex, compound, and simple sentences. It was fun learning with the alien and teaching it stuff i hd recently learned Things I learned about language and communication throughout the unit are how to have proper grammar and the differences between a complex sentence, a compound sentence, and a simple sentence.

This image best shows my growth because at the start of the units, I wasn’t sure of which part of speech meant what, but now I understand what each means.
My aliens paragraph:

Hypothesis: If I use the app, then I’ll become more productive.
Outcomes: Outcomes I hope to see after using the app for 7-10 days would be: I have 0 overdue’s. Another outcome would be less screen time. Another outcome would be I get no 2s or 1s.
Baseline: I have 1 overdue, a Chinese one, and 1 overdue for band. My average for my phone is 7 hours. And currently I only have one 2 for a band assignment.
Core features: The app doesn’t have a lot of features. The core feature is that it blocks me from using the selected apps. That is the feature I’ve used most. I selected TikTok, and it went from being used for four hours to never being used again. The apps marketing is “Refocus is an an app blocker & website blocker that helps you limit screen time on apps!” In addition to that, the app promised that it had multiple features; however, in reality, the features it mentioned you can use, you can’t.
Usefulness: The app has changed the way I use my phone. I went from only using it for 7 hours to 6 hours. After using the app, I went from having an overdue item to still having overdue items. Technically, this supports my hypothesis; however, my screen time only went down by around 1 hour- 30 minutes, which isn’t a lot. Since it only went down by a bit I wasn’t that much more productive. An unexpected thing the app encouraged was for me not to use the app the whole, instead of justa few hours.
Design:
“Refocus” may include design components like badges and rewards although these can help encourage users to remain dedicated to their objectives. The app makes money with the premium version of the app. The preunim has more features such as blocking an app for a speffic amount of time, 5 unblocks daily, and custom screen reports for everyday so you can see from a few day/weeks/months ago. Refocus has a lot of potential to help the user to create a lot of healthy habbits, however it can also lead to dependency because if the user starts to relay on the app then it would become a bad thing it wouldn’t be self motivation anymore its just the app doing it’s thing rater than the user growing.

Understanding: The thing we learned thought the unit was how teen brains are different from adult brains. What makes our decisions. We also learned how the pre-frontal cortex and amyadala take a role in our behavior. Learning about the brain has significantly impacted my understanding of my behavior. Learning about the brain has made me understand how I act and why I act that way. Learning about the brain also helps me know how to calm down more easily in stressful situations.
Surprising: The most surprising thing I learned about the teenage brain is that the prefrontal cortex( the thing that makes rational, logical decisions) takes the longest to develop, often fully developing in the early 20s.
Support: Understanding the brain can help with teenager and adult relationships because. An adult has their prefrontal cortex fully developed, while teenagers don’t. When the prefrontal cortex is not fully developed, it dose’nt make logical decisions; it makes emotional the in-the-moment kind of decisions. Knowing this information, adults can help teenagers make more logical decisions, and to help them calm down in stressful situations to make good logical situations.

Strategies: The most useful strategies would be listening to calming music. I would do that whenever I have to do a task, for example, cleaning my room, working on homework, or working on projects.
Word wall: On the word wall, there are multiple words we learned throughout the unit. Words I learned were FFF, Amygdala, and prefrontal cortex. The Amygdala is the part of the brain that makes Irrational and emotional decisions. The prefrontal cortex is the part of your brain that makes rational decisions. A word we learned was the FFF. The FFF stands for Fight, Flight, Freeze. These are the stages the brain goes under when it’s in a stressful situation. The brain acts like this in a stressful situation because in the past the brain would need to act like if theres another enemy they go into fight mode, if it sees a predator it goes into flight mode, or it can freeze up unable to move.

For our Ping Pong unit we played matches we watched videos on hoe to learnm new skill sets. We learned to survey, back hand, and how to play doubles. ping pong was very intrestning i think i grew in my skill set. At the start of the unit i would lose all my match and at the end i was able to win a few.

Game:
The game we created was a dependent game. You had to pick a duck then depending the duck the duck you picked. Under each duck you had a diffrent color. Blue would mean you get a small prize. Yellow mean you spin the wheel. The wheel would get you a small prize or a big prize or a medium prize. If you got green you would need to pick a different duck/ go again. Red would be cups. you have to pick a duck and if theres a duck under a cup you win a medium prize.
We first got the cups and painted them yellow so they we’ent clear. Then we worked on the ticket box. After the ticket box we made the sign. Asia order the duck which me and Mia then had to put the colors under the ducks. Then I made the spinner on my computer. A conflict we had was the ducks(the big prize didn’t arrive on time so we were panicking. Then Mia was able to buy them so it ended fine.
Something that went well was that no one said it was a scam. Which means it was very fair everyone had an equal shot at winning.
The Experimental probability was a bit off from the theoretical probability because the people won all the time. so it was more of 1/1 chance of winning. Howeaver winning the grand prize was a 1/60 chance.
