My Student Led Conference 2025

My Vision Board

Some of the things included on my vision board are:

  • do more chemistry
  • get into IM3+
  • fix all of the broken 3D printers in DT class
  • submit all assignments on time.

These are important because:

these are important because math is important for my future, fixing 3d printers in DT class helps me get more points, chemistry is fun, and i am bad at submitting all assignments on time.

My Goals Are:

  1. start doing chemistry
  2. get into at least IM3
  3. fix all of the 3D printers and get 3 exceedings for DT
  4. no late assignments

Transdisciplinary Transfer Goal (TTG)

critical thinker:

I considered all of the factors that affect inference performance when purchasing GPUs for passion project.

Evidence of organization

In the image on the left, there is no title and it is also missing other stuff, but in the image on the right, there is t a title and all of the important elements to a model.

this shows the improvement in my organization skills.

Core Subject: Language Arts 📖

In the first picture, I got a grade of 2.

In the second picture, I got a grade of 4.

These were all from the public speaking unit. It shows a significant improvement in my public speaking skills.

Core Subject: Social Studies 🌏

these are the best projects I have made from the beginning of the year and the end of the year. The text in the second one is a lot more detailed.

Examples of Test:

I think that last semester was great in this class, there were lots of things that I am proud of, for example winning the robot competition we held in class even tho we lost our micro-bit for half of the rounds and almost got no points for those rounds.

This shows that I am a creative learner because I am the only one to think of using a PID control loop with the onboard compass of the micro-bit to improve the accuracy of the robot.

Goals for next semester:

One thing I want to do is fix the three broken 3d printers from the high school within a month after CNY. I also want to get higher grades on thee part of DT class that involves documentation.

ART:

My skill in this project is connected to my knowledge in material science. Normally I work with all kinds of materials, so I know the structure of the molecules in the clay. This helps me understand how to handle the material without the teachers guidance. I also helped the other team members make the clay wet again after it got too dry.

I demonstrated my skills as an active learner by helping make dry clay wet again for three classes and make a few fish and coils and connected them to the pinch pot. I also worked in a group on the pinch pot, preparing the clay and making the long pieces of clay for the coils. By finishing this homework, I reflect on how I used my creative skills in this project. I also recalled how I participated in this project and I also can conclude on how each group member needs to work to finish this project.

We need to make sure we are not getting distracted by the clay and start playing with it. I need to keep in mind to check on others and their progress to make sure we are building the right part of the pot, for example if someone starts to build the top of the pot and the part below is not finished yet, the top will get too dry before it can be attached.

Highlights of the year:

My favorite activity is passion projects, because I can do what I like to do.

My favorite class is DT, because that is also what I like to do.

Closing

Thank you for listening to my progress towards my goals over the last year. Do you have any questions?

Social Studies Artifact #1

This is my Inquiry into interest project where we chose a topic we are interested in. I chose this project because it was a project I was proud of, my project was about security of smart home devices because most people don’t know that they are unsafe from criminals. I used the graph to show that most people care about their security and safety, including the security of their devices. I improved my communication skills and learned how to use a poster to communicate my knowledge.

Mental Health and Stigmatization

Media

Before, I didn’t know much about how bad media can be because I don’t use media, but now I know that the media can say very bad things about mental disorders.

Causes of stigma and ways to reduce it

Before, I didn’t know what stigmatization is, now I know its czused by negative steriotypes and can be prevented by educating people about whats being stigmatized, helping people who are being stigmatized, including everyone, etc.

What I learned

l learned about lots of mental disorders and how they are different from what I thought they were, for example I used to think that OCD is where someone wants everything perfect, but then I found out it involves a lot more than just that and that being a perfectionist doesn’t mean you haver OCD. I also learned about stigmatization and how to prevent it.

Welcome to Your New Portfolio!

Why have a digital portfolio at SAS?

Creating a portfolio, or blog is a great way to collect all the work you’ve done throughout your academic career. You can include academic, athletic, and personal artifacts or experiences that you want to share with a wider audience. This is a great way to organize all your learning in one place and you can take it with you when you leave SAS.  When you make your portfolio, you create posts that are categorized according to your subject. Some categories have already been set up for you, but if you need more categories you can add them as needed. It’s important that your posts have the following:

  • An engaging title – this should not include the name of the subject since this is referenced in the category. Think of this as the first opportunity to engage and hook your reader!
  • Body – this is where you share your learning. This should include a combination of text and media in the form of images, graphics, and embedded videos. You should always consider how your post looks to your audience. Is it engaging and organized? Do they want to keep reading?
  • Category – select one that has been set for you or add a new category. Posts can have more than one category e.g. Humanities and Myself as a Learner
  • Tags – create tags that can be used as keywords to describe your post. Tags help organize your post a little more! Aim to have 3-5 tags for each post. For example, if you are posting about a novel you wrote, you might want the following tags: #Fiction, #MurderMystery, #Theme, #PlotDiagram
