Art Book Cover

This is my art notebook cover. I spent 2.5 classes, but I still haven’t finished. My cover shows all the things that I enjoy to do. For example, art, volleyball, music, and traveling. In this drawing I included Posca markers and using a pencil to draw a draft.

This picture shows my first draft. At the start I decided to do something with different shapes and maybe the shapes are more separated with each other. Then I thought ‘Why don’t I include some words?’ So I did and I think it looked way better than my first draft.

(Work in Progress)

Unit 3 Proportionality & Percentage

What do you understand about the topic?

I learned multiple formula to help me in this unit, also I understand that proportionality and percentages are used when calculating tax, percent change, and comparing different values.

What new information do you have?

I learned multiple formulas. For example, ∆/original = %/100 which calculates the percent change between different numbers. Another example is the SI=Original amount x percent (%) or interest x time.

What was interesting about the unit?

It was interesting of how people calculate the taxes like this.

What was tricky for you?

At the start solving the percent change was tricky for me because I didn’t understand how to do the formula but after some practice I became better at it.

Me as a Collaborator

On my table there is me, Meimei, Simon, and Finn. Sometimes if I see no one wanting to put the notebooks/folders then I would help them and put it back for them even if it wasn’t my job to put it back. I need to work on sharing my ideas to my table groups during class, I sometimes contribute to my tabel my writing my ideas down. In the unit 2 dystopian story me and my partner Meimei work really well together but it was really hard to generate the right pictures that we wanted in our comic book using the AI image generator in Canva, we haven’t finish the story yet but we are almost done. In the unit 1 product branding project we did a pretty good job on it and explained clearly why.

I think I get a approaching because I try, but I sometimes distract, stay quiet, or need reminders to work well with others.

Unit 2 Summatives ELA

How do you think your summatives compared to your formatives?

I think I did better on the submative than the formatives, I think this because i practiced at home using the AI bot Ms. Devin gave us. Also after reading the comments Ms. Devin gave me last time, I tried to mainly work on the evidence and reasoning. One comment said that “you’re struggling with how to align your claim, evidence and reasoning.” And I got a lower grade on the formative.

What are you proud of?

I am proud of myself being able to spend time working on practicing writing the CERER format and the connotations on the AI bot Ms. devin made.

What were some challenges for you?

I struggling on making my claim in my CERER more clearly, also I need to work on my punctuations in my writing.

How effectively did you use feedback (both from peers and teachers)?

I used the comments on my last formative and changed it/worked on it for my summative assessment.

If you could redo the summative assessment, what changes would you make?

If I could redo the assessment then I would change my evidence and make it more clearly and connect it to the main claim.

What advice would you give yourself for Unit 3?

I need to practice more at home and listen to everything the teacher says in class.

Set one goal for future work

In next test I need to work on practicing at home and using every resource I have.

Health

The DECIDE model can help people make sure if something they do is safe. Also after using the DECIDE model I was sure of what I should do in these situations.

Effects of vapes: Addiction, brain risks, use of other tobacco products, toxins(poisons), sports, and money.

Effects of drugs: drugs can cause our brain to not develop enough. Teens don’t always think through the consequences, so they might have a hard time knowing when to stop.

Math Unit 2: Proportional and Scale Drawings

What do you understand about the topic?

A scale copies look similar to the originals. The size changes but the shape doesn’t, and if the shape is stretched or squished, then it will not be a scaled copy. A scaled copy as proportional sides. This means that a scaled copy is just an bigger or smaller version of the original size.

What new information do you have?

I learned to apply scale factor to lengths and reproduce scale drawings, and I have a good understanding of scale factor and scaled copies.

What is interesting about the unit?

I found it really interesting that Things like model cars, dollhouses, and even printing a picture in different sizes on a computer are all scale copies.

What was tricky for you?

I had trouble considering the connections between proportional relationships and scale drawing. And for applying scale factor to area, the original area should be multiplied by the scale factor squared.

Health DECIDE project

In health class we learned about the DECIDE model and it stands for D- define the problem E-explore your options C-consider the consequences I-Identify your values D-decide what to do E-Evaluate your decision. This model can help you decide if its safe.

Unit 2 PE – Soccer & swimming reflection

Soccer:

In soccer I improved on defending the goal. At first I couldn’t block a ball from coming towards the goal but now I could stop the ball and block it. I think it was a bit cold outside in this unit so I was freezing.

Swimming:

I improved on being able to float and move in the water without touching the ground. I liked how we get to work in groups to do this unit.

ELA Unit 2 Formative #2 (CERER – Dystopian Characteristics)

What are you proud of?

I am proud of myself improving on the conventions. I struggled working on it during class using the Flint AI that Ms. Devin made. But on the test I improved. And I think I did a pretty good job on it. I need to work on it even more.

What were some challenges for you?

Some challenges I faced was connecting the claim to my evidence. Ms. Devin wrote ‘you’re struggling with how to align your claim, evidence, and reasoning’.

If you could redo the assessment, what changes would you make?

If I could redo the assessment, I would practice more on stating my claim more strong also I want to work on connecting my evidence and reasoning to the claim more. I would pay more attention on finding connective claims that relevant to the claim. And I would read over my work before submitting it. I would also work on understanding and remembering the dystopian characteristics.

What will you do between now and the summative to ensure you meet the standards?

I would use the AI Ms. Devin gave us to practice with my evidence and reasoning. I would also go back to the dystopian cheat sheet to review the dystopian characteristics.

What advice would you give yourself moving forward?

I would maybe take more notes on the stories that I read during class so I could use it on the assessments. Also I would review the conventions more to make sure that I don’t make any more mistakes in my writing.
