Vision Board Reflection

Goal Progress:
I have made great progress toward achieving my goal. To move forward, I consistently used time to my hobbies, practiced positive attitutes to build self-trust, and stayed determined even when I faced obstacles. Small, regular steps have helped me maintain it.

Challenges:
I faced challenges such as moments of frustration, self-doubt, and occasional setbacks. To overcome these, I paused to refocus, reminded myself f to persevere, and adjusted my pace when it was necessary. In the future, I plan to break tasks into smaller parts to manage difficulty.

New Insights:
Since creating my vision board, I’ve gained the thought that self-compassion is really important to success. This perspective has helped me reach my goals with more patience.

Accomplishments:
I am proud of maintaining a positive attitude during tough moments and consistently engaging in activities I enjoy. These align with my vision of myself, enjoying the process, and building a school life that is really filled with purpose and joy.

Revised Goal:
My goal remains the same, but I now see the value. This fix allows me to celebrate progress without feeling constrained, adapting to my growth while keeping the overall clear.

Support System:
My friends and family encouragement has really impacted my motivation. Their belief in me to believe in my self, and their support made challenges feel more manageable.

Next Steps:
Moving forward, I will create a weekly schedule that balances goal-focused actions with time for relaxation and friendship. I will reflect each week on what worked well, and remind myself daily of my determination and to have a positive mindset.

Visual Presentation

The project involved using our chosen technology as the topic and deciding on a way to present the information we collected to an audience. I decided to create both a stop-motion animation and a mini model representing the printing press. I chose this format because I can visually showcase my learning, both in a movie type and the model, where the audience can physically interact with it.

One accomplishment I am truly proud of is that I remained focused and avoided distractions, which allowed me to incorporate specific and accurate information into my animation. Additionally, I successfully explained the details of my project to the audience, including my parents, in a clear and understandable way. One area that I should continue to improve is my confidence during presentations. In the future, I can work on keeping my voice louder and more steady to project greater assurance. Overall, the entire project progressed very smoothly, and the final result turned out even better than I had thought.

Math Unit 3: Proportionality and Percentages

U – Understand
I understand that percentages are parts out of 100. I can change a percent into a fraction or a decimal. I also know how to find the part, whole, or percent using equations like %/100 = part/whole. I feel confident using double number lines and tape diagrams to show my work for problems like discounts, tax, and tips.

N – New Information
I learned new words like simple interest, sales tax, tip, and subtotal before tax.I also learned that tip is usually calculated before tax is added. Another new thing was using percent change to figure out how much a price increases or decreases.

I – Interesting
It was interesting to see how we use percentages in real life, like when shopping (sales tax, discounts) or eating at a restaurant (tipping). Shading in a 100s grid to show percents helped me picture what “part of a whole” really means.

T – Tricky
Sometimes setting up the proportion %/100 = part/whole was confusing, especially when I wasn’t sure which number was the part and which was the whole. Percent change problems could also be tricky because I had to remember whether the price went up or down. Practice with tape diagrams helped me get better.

Social Studies Unit 2: Essay

In this unit, we learned how technology and transportation changed society. To start, we got a brief lesson and then began a project. First, I had to pick a technology to study, and I chose the printing press. Next, I gathered information from three different articles. I began by annotating the articles on paper, and then I filled out a graphic organizer. The organizer helped me find specific information, like the positive and negative impacts of the printing press, how people in power fixed any problems, why they fixed them, and what the final resolution was.

After the organizer was complete, I used the information to write an essay in the CER format. Each paragraph had a topic sentence, two pieces of evidence, two reasonings, and a sentence to connect to the next paragraph. I chose the most important facts and added extra detail in my reasoning. We also learned how to write an interesting hook and a conclusion that leaves the reader thinking.

Overall, I wrote a well-structured essay that was easy to follow and used good evidence to support my claim. However, something I can improve is to always expand on my ideas with more reasoning. I did this for most of my paragraphs, but sometimes my reasoning sounded more like extra evidence instead of an explanation.

ELA: Collaboration Reflection

I collaborated effectively with a small team, actively participating and sharing ideas. While I still find it challenging to speak in front of a large audience and participate in class, I am committed to improving my active learning skills. During the crowdfunding project, my partners and I worked together to generate and agree on innovative ideas.

I would give myself an approaching on my active learner skills. I share ideas with my groups, but I get distracted sometimes by my peers.

Unit 2-Dystopian Conflict Summative

I met nearly all the requirements in the rubric during the formative assessment. I dedicated myself to practice, and determined to improve my performance in the summative assessment,. I spent at least 40 minutes daily working with the CER bot and revisiting the conflicts in each story repeatedly. This focused practice helped me improve my ability to articulate clear claims, gather evidence, and craft nuanced and insightful reasoning. I was pleased with my performance in the summative assessment and could see the tangible results of my hard work. However, I faced some challenges during the presentation, particularly due to time constraints and nervousness. Speaking in front of the class was challenging for me, but I recieved support from my peers, practicing with friends during breaks and spending my class time effectively. In hindsight, I realize that I could have dive deeper into my reasoning and made stronger connections during the summative assessment. If given the opportunity to redo the conflict portion, I would approach it with a more critical mindset, revisiting the stories to uncover their deeper meanings. Additionally, I would focus on building confidence through more practice for the presentation, rehearsing my speech with friends.

Digital Art Reflection 🎨🖌️

Title: The Echos of Struggle

Intended Audience

The intended audience for your artwork includes people interested in art, especially those who care about social issues like war and peace. This could be students, teachers, or anyone who wants to understand the emotional effects of conflict. By showing two different perspectives, the artwork invites viewers to think deeply about how war impacts lives.

Design Strategies

One design strategy you used contrast in color physcology. By creating a strong difference between the chaotic war scene and the peaceful civilian scene, I highlighted the realities people face. For example, using dark colors for the war side and bright colors for the peaceful side makes each perspective stand out. This helps the audience feel the emotions involved in each scene.

Another strategy is balance in the artwork.I made sure that both halves of the eye have different elements but still feel like they belong together. This means that even though one side shows conflict and the other shows peace, they work together to tell a complete story. Using balance helps the viewer appreciate both perspectives without one overpowering the other.

ART🎨:Identity through Clay & Graffiti

1. Showing Identity

Clay Piece:

My clay piece and my name drawing show two different, but important, parts of who I am. My clay piece of my grandma’s house shows the part of me that cares deeply about my family. By choosing to create her house in blue and white, I was showing my love and the happy memories I have there. It reflects that my family is a huge part of my identity and where I come from.

Name Drawing:

My name drawing showcases my outgoing personality. By filling my name with warm colours, I turned it into a bright symbol of my character. This visually communicates that I am a warm, kind, and peaceful person, letting my art introduce who I am.

2. Showing Persistence

I showed persistence by staying focused and managing my time. I made effort to avoid distractions and used every class period productively. This allowed me to make progress on both of my projects. I also did my research before starting. Instead of jumping right in, I looked up pictures of other clay houses and colorful name designs for inspiration. This helped me generate better ideas and improved the quality of my final artwork. Finally, I persevered through the entire process. This unit was particulary challenging for me, but I was determined to see them through to the end. I didn’t give up, and I kept working until I had created two pieces that I was really proud of.

Math Unit 1: Proportional Relationships

I have gained knowledge on identifying the constant of proportionality, representing it through equations and graphs, and applying it to real-world situations through word problems. I am confident in recognizing the constant of proportionality in word problems and incorporating it into equations. Exploring the constant of proportionality in graphs was a new concept for me, as I had not realized that graphs and coordinates also relates with proportional relationships. Proportional relationships in real life include like calculating discounts and tips, adjusting quantities in recipes, and more. These relationships help in predicting costs, adapting quantities for different measurements, and understanding the correlation between variables like distance and time. I found visualizing the relationship in tables and graphs to be a challenging area.

Unit 1 ELA Media Project Summative

I chose this form of media because the use of images and animation is a powerful tool for improving audience engagement and clearly demonstrating the product’s features. This aligns with my strength, as I am strong in editing videos. My medium which was an influencer helped show the purpose by using images and videos that takes a closer look into the product. Additionally, the soothing songs creates a sense of comfort for them. These features assist the viewers to feel excitement which leads to the purpose of the media, encouraging them to consider purchasing the product.

If this had been a traditional assignment where everyone had to make the same type of project, the requirements to reach the standards would be more specific and clear. This will also improve giving feedback with peers and improve the project. Having multiple option provide freedom in choices, but I think working on a single type of project will help me understand the standard and achieve my goal more effectively.

At the beginning of the unit, I struggled identifying the connotation of words, and how it has an effect on the audience. I slowly got familiar with finding powerful words, recognizing the difference between denotation and connotation. Now, with the knowledge I even incorporated connotation in my media, clearly giving positive effect to the audience.

I am proud of how I selected powerful words with strong connotations and used them effectively in my project. These specific word choices supported the author’s purpose of the media. One area of improvement is I want to continue refining my analysis by explaining how the word’s connotation connects to the purpose and the effect on the audience, making my explanations more nuanced.

One advice I would want to give myself for the next unit is having better time management. I should plan my schedule for the project, clearly knowing the assignment each day.
