Apprenticeship Task Reflection🤔

Why Having a Growth Mindset Is Critical for Company Success, https://www.cio.com/article/409178/why-having-a-growth-mindset-is-critical-for-company-success.html.

Creative learner👩‍🎨:
For this apprenticeship I did the task where I planned a school event. Planning a school event is a clear demonstration of being a creative learner. This task involves generating new ideas, adapting to challenges, and collaborating with others. For example, when brainstorming themes and activities, I had to consider diverse interests to ensure that the event is appropriate for all ages, which sparked innovative problem-solving. I learned to think outside the box and explore alternative solutions. This flexibility is essential in creativity, pushing me to adapt and refine my plans. In the end, planning the event showed me that it includes thinking strategically and communicating well. This experience improved my creative skills and made me realize how important teamwork and getting the community involved are in making ideas happen.

Critical Thinker👩‍⚖️:
Reading to kids and doing word play are great ways to strengthen critical thinking skills. When I read to children, I had to pay close attention to their reactions because it was my first time meeting them and I wasn’t quite sure what they are interested in, so I adjust my storytelling once in a while to keep them engaged. This required me to think critically about which stories would interest them and match their understanding. The word play activity, where I wrote a paragraph using only 20 words, challenged me to be concise and clear. I had to choose my words carefully to convey my message effectively. This exercise helped me break down my ideas and assess their importance. Essentially, these activities helped me explain complex ideas in simple ways and change my approach depending on who I was talking to. They showed me that critical thinking means looking at information carefully and being flexible and creative in how we share it.

Resilience💪:
Creating a vision board helped me build resilience by visually representing my goals, important relationships, and hobbies. By gathering images and quotes that inspire me, I created a reminder of what motivates me and what matters most in my life. When I face challenges, my vision board keeps me focused on my aspirations and reminds me of the support I have from friends and family. It highlights my passions—like swimming, volleyball, and ballet—which motivate me to push through tough times. The motivational quotes I added help me stay strong when things get tough. They remind me that setbacks are a normal part of the journey and that I can overcome them. Overall, the vision board is a helpful tool for resilience, keeping me positive and focused on my dreams, no matter what challenges I face.

Skillful Communicator☎️:
Writing a persuasive email and participating in an interview helped me improve my communication skills. When I crafted the email about getting better hair dryers for the pool changing room, I learned how to express my ideas clearly and convincingly. I focused on my audience, using persuasive language and include solid reasons. Getting interviewed by 8th graders for their health project on phone usage was another valuable experience. It required me to share my thoughts clearly while actively listening to their questions. This taught me how to respond in an engaging and informative way. Both experiences helped me communicate better. I learned that being a good communicator is not just about writing or speaking well; it’s also about understanding who I’m talking to and adjusting my message to connect with them. These skills are important for success in school and in life, as they help me share my ideas and interact with others more effectively.

Effective Collaborator👯‍♀️:
Participating in the class activity where we arranged our pictures from most zoomed in to most zoomed out was a great way to practice being an effective collaborator. In this activity, we couldn’t show our pictures to each other, so we had to communicate clearly without sharing visual information. I learned to express my thoughts about where my picture should go in the line and to listen to others’ ideas as well. Working together required teamwork and respect for everyone’s input. We had to discuss and negotiate our positions based on our understanding of the images, which helped us build trust and cooperation. I realized that collaboration is not just about sharing ideas but also about being open to others’ perspectives. This experience taught me the importance of communication and compromise in a group setting. It showed me that effective collaboration leads to better outcomes, as we all contributed to creating a well-organized line of pictures. Overall, this activity reinforced my ability to work well with others and highlighted the value of teamwork.

Big Project:

Extracurriculars:

Recess/reading buddy/science assistant for ES or MS

High school students would enjoy teaching younger kids in middle and elementary schools, focusing on subjects they love. They can help with math, like basic arithmetic and algebra, and science through fun experiments. They also assist with reading and writing skills. Other areas include art, technology, sports, and music. Programs like after-school tutoring and summer camps let high schoolers share their knowledge and make learning fun for younger students.

Plan a school event

The School Carnival Day is on the school playground and in the gymnasium, targeting students of all ages and their families. The event will feature a variety of activities, including games booths like ring toss and bean bag toss, a craft station for DIY tie-dye shirts and friendship bracelets, and food stalls offering popcorn, cotton candy, hot dogs, and fresh fruit. Entertainment will include a magic show, live music from student volunteers, and a dance party with recommended music. A scavenger hunt will engage students with age-appropriate clues leading to fun prizes. Face painting will add to the festive atmosphere. To ensure smooth logistics, volunteers—including teachers, parents, and older students—will manage activities, and a first aid station will be available for safety. The event will be promoted through flyers, school announcements, and social media posts, fostering community spirit and providing a fun environment for everyone.

Empathy

Hey Friend,

I just wanted to reach out and let you know that I’m thinking of you. I can only imagine how tough things have been for you lately, and I want you to know that it’s okay to feel overwhelmed.

If you feel like talking, I’m here to listen. No pressure at all—sometimes just knowing someone cares can make a difference. You don’t have to go through this alone.

Remember, it’s perfectly fine to take time for yourself. I’m here for you, whether you need a shoulder to cry on or someone to share a laugh with.

Take care of yourself, and reach out whenever you need to. You’ve got this, and I’m with you every step of the way.

Much love,
Reina Kang

Create a social media post

I created a social media post for turkey bowl. It showed how much fun I had playing in the turkey bowl, even though it was very cold, however it was still a great school spirit day.
