Unit 1 ELA Media Project Summative

Creating the commercial to promote our school SAS was a great way to be creative and share what makes our school unique. I enjoyed coming up with ideas and figuring out how to make my message clear and interesting. Preparing and presenting my reflection also helped me improve my speaking skills and feel more confident.
the of the most challenging parts of this project was coming up with connotations that related well to our school SAS. I wanted to choose words and ideas that would really connect with the audience and make them feel positive about our school, but it was not always easy to find the right ones. I had to think carefully about what words would best express the message I wanted to get across and make sure they fit with the overall tone of the commercial.

I chose to make a commercial instead of a newspaper or comic etc. because I thought a commercial would be more engaging and effective at catching people’s attention quickly. It allowed me to be more creative and present my message in a dynamic way. It was challenging to come up with ideas that would work well in a short video, but I’m glad I chose this media because it helped me learn new skills and express my ideas creatively.

My commercial shows my purpose by presenting information about our school SAS in a way that aims to catch people’s attention and make them interested. I used visuals and a clear message to help explain why our school is a good place.

For the next unit, I think I should plan my project early and make sure I give myself enough time to think about my ideas. It’s important to stay organized and ask for feedback so I can improve my work. I should also be open to trying different ideas and making changes if needed. Overall, staying focused and managing my time better will help me do my best next time.

Social Studies: Unit 1 Media Presentation

Bias in my own words:

Bias is when someone or something favors one side or idea more than the others, often in a way that isn’t fair. For example, if a teacher only likes one student and gives that student better grades, that’s bias. It means not being completely fair or equal to everyone.

One thing I improved was learning how to make speeches using note cards. Before, I would just try to remember everything and sometimes forget what I wanted to say. Now, I write down important points and ideas on note cards, which helps me stay focused and organized. Because of this, my presentation became much clearer and easier to follow. It also made me more confident because I knew I had a plan to guide me through my speech. Overall, using note cards was a big improvement because it made my presentation more structured and professional.

My next steps are to speak louder so everyone can hear me better, and to take a moment to think before I say something. Speaking louder will make my voice clearer, and thinking first will help me say smarter things. I want to keep getting better at talking in front of others.

STAR test growth

Goals:

  1. I will make a space to read that does not distracted me
  2. be focused while reading at least 1 hour and 20 minutes
  3. read books that challenges me with some hard words for me to learn.

I always read in a not comfortable space and i always struggle to focus on reading since i keep moving my posture while reading .

Welcome to Your New Portfolio!

Why have a digital portfolio at SAS?

Creating a portfolio, or blog is a great way to collect all the work you’ve done throughout your academic career. You can include academic, athletic, and personal artifacts or experiences that you want to share with a wider audience. This is a great way to organize all your learning in one place and you can take it with you when you leave SAS.  When you make your portfolio, you create posts that are categorized according to your subject. Some categories have already been set up for you, but if you need more categories you can add them as needed. It’s important that your posts have the following:
  • An engaging title – this should not include the name of the subject since this is referenced in the category. Think of this as the first opportunity to engage and hook your reader!
  • Body – this is where you share your learning. This should include a combination of text and media in the form of images, graphics, and embedded videos. You should always consider how your post looks to your audience. Is it engaging and organized? Do they want to keep reading?
  • Category – select one that has been set for you or add a new category. Posts can have more than one category e.g. Humanities and Myself as a Learner
  • Tags – create tags that can be used as keywords to describe your post. Tags help organize your post a little more! Aim to have 3-5 tags for each post. For example, if you are posting about a novel you wrote, you might want the following tags: #Fiction, #MurderMystery, #Theme, #PlotDiagram
