Hi World

Unit 3 Health Reflection

During this unit we learned about identity and healthy relationships. During the unit we learned about many important ideas and topics, and the top 3 most important topics would be that consent in a relationship is very important. For example when you want to borrow someones phone you have to ask them and wait for them to say yes but they have to be fully awake. Another important idea is that boundaries should not be broken. For example when someone sets boundaries you can not cross them. Lastly, a important topic would be that the media influences gender roles and stereotypes. Which was what our project was about.

During this unit our project was to identify and analyze a piece of media that had a healthy relationship or a unhealthy relationship. My group chose the movie Tarzan from disney.

PE Unit Reflection

Soccer

During the soccer unit I had a injury that did not allow me to run which limited my abilities to play during the game. But even thought I had this injury I was able to improve my control of the ball. Which could be that I would able to practice in a slower way. I also think I might have improved my dribbling and maybe even my shooting.

Swimming/Waterpolo

During the swimming unit I was able to learn how to play water polo. Which allowed me to learn and improve the skills to playing water polo. But I think that the most important thing that I improved was my ability to water tread. I feel that it is the most important because it could save your life, because it allows you to float in water.

Health Unit 2 Reflection

Before this unit in health class I never thought about mental health and its affect on people. Because I thought that it was easy to cure and that it also never seemed affect me or anyone else in my life. But I know that now that might not be true because mental health is really easy to hide.

But now that I have had this unit I learned that it is very easy to hide. Also, I learned. that the affects of mental health issue could be very negative. For example wanting to hurt yourself and maybe even suicide. In addition to that I learned that there is a lot of stigma around mental health. I also think that my thinking changed because I used to think that it is easily curable. But in reality it is not easy to cure with lots of variables like the environment they are in.

Semester 1 Science Active Learner Reflection

Currently in Science class my goal is to be able to improve the grades on my 3 for 3’s from 2 to 3. So far it seems that I have made allot of progress because I have improved the grades, this could be from me reviewing the material we learned in class and listening more in class. I also tried to not get distracted as often.

I am most proud that I I have shown improvement in my 3 for 3’s. Which could be reviewing the materials. My biggest challenge is participating in class even though I think I have improved since the beginning of the year, I think I still need to improve. I also demonstrate the qualities of an active learner because, I almost always bring the materials needed to class. But next quarter and next semester I think I could improve my participation in class.

Math Unit 1: Transformation Summative

I chose question 6 as one of by best pieces of work on the test because, I was able to answer the question quickly and efficiently by being able to solve it only using 1 transformation. I used a rotation then rotated the figure 180 degree Clockwise. I also chose question 8 which was the L4 question as one of the best pieces of work on the test because, it was the hardest part on the test and I was still able to get it correct. Which allowed me to get a 4 on my final grade.

Throughout this unit, I improved the most at everything because at the start of the unit I did not know anything about transformation and our unit. Even then I was able to understand the content of our classes. I feel that I do not have anything to work on because I was able to get everything right. This was also shown because on the comment my teacher left for me she said that I had demonstrated strong mastery of transformations and dilations.

Three of my strengths so far for this year are that I am able to focus on learning new things, checking my work to see if it is correct, and explaining my thinking. Next unit I would like to improve my ability to correctly spell words, Working on my time management, and IDK.

In the next unit, I want to be able to manage my time to be able to submit my stuff on time. This is Important because it would allow me to finish stuff on time. Something that might get in the way would be a big project. If I needed help I could ask my parents to help me think of strategies.

Language Arts Unit 1: First Contact

During this unit we learned about the big 8 in english verbs, nouns, adjectives, adverbs, articles, prepositions, conjunction, and pronouns. We also learned about sentence structures and from what we learned we taught a alien A.I how to speak english. Then they created a paragraph that we would have to annotate. In order to talk to Mr. Stanley about it. Something that I could have improved upon before my meeting could to be able to improve my understand of a subject verb split. Something that I was able to do well on was being able to explain words that were given to me in the paragraph created from the A.I.

Health Unit 2 project

My Woop Goal

Part 1

The Calm app will be able to make me more confident about myself, because when I use it the app will calm me down and will let me not think about people judging me. After using calm for a week I expect to see myself being more confident about myself, I also expect to see that I can ask for help when needed. I will measure this by keeping count of all the times I need help and I do get help.

Part 2

Functionality:
The main feature of the calm app is to be able to calm yourself with meditation and self reflection. They use recordings and self guided meditation that you can do during the day. The feature that I use the most is the meditation part which allows me to get rid of some of my anxiety. Also, every other day I switch from a short recording to a long one. Calms promises are that you would be able to manage stress, sleep better, and live a happier, healthier life. So far my experience with the app is quite good because it does help manage my stress. Some limitations that the app has is that most of the exercises are the same.

Success:
After Using this app I was able to over come my stress of asking for help. So, it was able to prove my hypothesis to be right. I think that this happened because the Calm app contain lots of meditation exercises which helped me with my stress. Which allowed me to ask more questions in class and outside of class. Another thing is that one unexpected outcome was that when using it at night allows me to get a better nights sleep.

Design:
The app is designed to be strait forward and simple to use not using such bright colors which would not make you addicted to it. It is also beneficial because you wont be constantly looking for something. The app makes money by making you have to pay for more access it would influence its design because It would show you what you are missing out on by using a lock icon.

Evidence:

Unit 1 Health

Learning about the teen brain impacted my understandings because it shows that when you are stressed there are always ways to fix it. Like Breathing exercising and many more it also showed my how connected my brain is and that not all my decisions are the best. Which was not in my total control because sometimes it just comes out and I am not able to think about it. But when I am calm I have more control.

There are benefits of having a teen brain like teens being able to learn faster and as teens we are more likely to try new things. Another thing that I learned what the amygdala and hippocampus is, and how they are connected. I also learned have the pre-frontal cortex amygdala and hippocampus dominate our decisions.

Learning and understand the brain at different stages could help improve communications between teens and adults. This could also affect how adults think about our action as teens are more reactive to thing that happen due to the connection of the amygdala and hippocampus, and when they ignore the pre-frontal cortex due to stress.

Some stress management strategies I think would be most helpful for me would be to do some deep breathing during presentation. But then when it comes to more general thing I would exercise and do some hobbies I would enjoy. I already incorporating most of these strategies into my life like deep breathing for when I am in stressful situations where I cant do a something like during a presentation.

The amygdala, which is the section of your brain responsible for fear. Transmits signals to your Hippocampus, stimulating the autonomic nervous system. Then, your sympathetic system causes your adrenal glands to trigger adrenaline which leads you to the fight flight of freeze response. This would mainly happen when you have a stressed amygdala but when you have a calm amygdala your pre frontal cortex would get activated and you would think about what you would do and you would become relaxed, and you would make better decision.
