TTG Reflection

Goal Setting Basics: Master Long & Short-Term Success Strategies

For this semester, I focused on being an effective collaborator in general, but a critical thinker for math and science, a skillful communicator in social studies, and an effective collaborator in language arts. Here is how I worked towards my goals:

1, Math, Science (Critical Thinker)

In the past few months in grade 7, I tried my best to share and demonstrate my ideas in classwork, group work, and homework. I think this helps me achieve my goals because critical thinker includes demonstrating my thinking skills in a detailed way.

2, Social Studies (Skillful Communicator)

I think this is an essential TTG for social studies, because we get presentation projects every unit. I worked toward my goal by always practicing my presentations and speeches. I also practice with my friends to get extra feedback to improve my presentation.

3, Language Arts (Effective Collaborator)

This TTG is very important for language arts, because we get a lot of group work and group feedback throughout the year. I worked toward the goal by participating in group works actively and helping my group mates.

In conclusion, I think I achieved my goals, and I want to keep working on it.

Social Studies Visual Presentation Reflection

What we did:

In this unit, we made a visual presentation to represent our research on a specific transportation or communication technology. For me, I chose commercial airplanes. I made a scaled copy of the B777-200 ER.

Something I did well for the visual presentation:

For me, I did the model of the plane really well, like extra well. Multiple people are making a plane in this grade, and we are all using cardboard. Some are 2d, some are box-shaped, and someone even decided to use paper to glue the whole thing. But I decided to make something different. I made a 3d cardboard B777-200ER with a reinforced interior, making the plane extra durable. Additionally, I created a custom 1/100-scale replica of the plane, which made my model highly accurate to real life.

Something I could improve:

I would like to improve my presenting skills, because the information I included in my presentation is very little, and people that dont research can even answer the questions. So, next time I should include more detailed context in my presentation, and tell people how I researched and answered.

Vision Board Reflection

This is my 2025 vision board, which includes my goals and challenges. In this post, I’m going to reflect on it and my progress in achieving my goals.

I have taken steps to achieve my SSAT score goal, because now every day I practice the questions and try to answer them as best as possible. I also take 1 class every week. For my reading goal, I have achieved it because now I read at least 45 minutes everyday.

Some challenges that I have faced are when I am trying to play squash as a new sport. I use to play badminton for 3 years, but even though squash is a similar sport, some movements are really different and my coach is dying to get me do the right moves.

Some next steps for moving toward my goals are keep trying and practicing it. For example, if I want to get good grades, then I should improve them by keeping doing classwork and practicing my skills.

Unit 3 reflection

U: In this unit, I learned about percents, tax, and interest rates. We understood how to apply the knowledge in real life such as shopping and banking.

N: Something new that I learned in this unit was how to calculate a percent increase (x-y=z z/x), how to calculate the tax, and how to calculate the interest rate.

I: Something interesting is the final project, where we chose something that we can apply the knowledge of percent increase in. For me, I predicted the seat price for FIFA World Cup 2026.

T: Something tricky for me in this unit was some of the extension challenge questions. Because I did well on the pretest, the teacher put me into an extension group that learned more advanced things than others. But the extension questions are quite hard for me, so I need to change to another group that fits my skill.

Social Studies Unit 2: Essay

What we did

In this unit we researched a specific form of transportation or communication technology. For me, I researched about commercial planes and made a model of a b777-200er. During this process, we first have to get trustable and credible article so we can annotate it. Then, we used the information we learned from the article (s) and used the knowledge to fill out a graded graphic organizer. After that, we wrote an essay about our research. In the end, we made a model to represent our research.

Something I did well for essay

For me, I think something that I did well is the claim and ending. I think my claim and ending are powerful and matches my essay content very well.

Something I can improve

I would like to improve my graphic organizing skill. When I am writing the essay, I realized that the information in my graphic organizer is messy and different info is pilled all over the place. So, next time I should make my graphic organizer more organized by adding subheadings.

Science Unit 2 Reflection

Unit summary:

In this unit, we learned about the human body, consisting of animal cells, the 11 body systems, and human body organs (actually pig, but similar). And in the end, we did a final project to answer our question. We chose an essential question to answer, consisting of “What happens inside our bodies when we get sick?”How do our body systems work together when we play our favorite sport?” For me I chose the sports question because I really like badminton and I want to do a project about it. Learning about different body systems and cells helped me complete the final project, because we needed the background information to conduct our research. This project also relates to how the body is made up, because this is the basic information about the human body, and it is very useful in final projects and assessments.

Challenges and how should I improve:

A challenge that I faced during this unit was the research part. This year, researching is a lot different from G6, because we have to find our own websites for information, and cite them ourselves. This was a challenge for me because I am used to using websites that teachers provided. Next time, I should practice more on it, because it ca help a lot in my future life.

Something fun and memorable:

Something that is very interesting and memorable for me is the different dissections. During the dissections, I learned about different new knowledge about human body systems and saw hot it works in real life. It was very interesting because I have never did dissection of body parts as big as a lung and as bloody as a heart.

How might this project help me in the future:

This project can help me in the future when I am in high school or college, because we will learn about this topic again. This also allows me understand more about myself when I’m sick, because now I know what happens in my body.

DT Unit 2 RC Car Reflection

What we did in this unit:

We each made an RC car and customized the car parts. As you can see in the picture, I made a new hood and a spiky bumper.

Some things that worked well:

Something that worked well was how I worked efficiently and completed all the tasks. I helped a lot of people with their projects, and in the end, we all finished.

Some things that I should improve on:

Something that I should improve is making more 3d ideas. As you can see, all of my modifications are 2d wood boards. Next time, I want to challenge myself by trying to 3d print.

This skill is really helpful because:

We can use this skill to make 3d printed small figures or gadgets that are fun or useful.

DT Unit 1 Clock Reflection

What we did in this unit:

In this unit, we learned how to design and make a good functional clock for our client. During this process, we made technical drawings, blueprints, prepared materials, and created different designs over and over again to meet the client’s needs. It was very fun and I enjoyed it a lot.

Some things that worked:

Something that worked when I was making the clock was how I met the client’s needs in one go instead of trying over and over again. Mr client, Mr. Brian, really likes it, and I got an exceeding. I am also really happy with how I worked very efficiently and got all the work done.

Some things that i should improve on:

Something that did not work very well and I should improve, is the color choice I made. As you can see in the picture, the color is plain and vague. Next time, I should choose to paint instead of spray paint.

How this can help me in my future life:

This skill is actually very useful in real life because if I get a job for designing things I need all the skills required to make this clock. Even is I don’t get a designing job, I would still need the skill when I market products and make things.

Math Unit 2 Reflection

U: In this unit, we learned and practiced scale factors and scaled copies. We understood a lot of information relate to scales, like the relationship between a scale factor with an original shape and the scaled copy.

N: Some new information that I learned from this unit is the relationship between an original shape and the scaled factor, because before I just thought it is two shapes that look similar. Another example is how the scaled area, the scale factor, and the original area worked.

I: Something interesting during this unit is working with my small group to figure out a question. I found this interesting because some of the problems we need to solve is a bit challenging, and by working together we get to share our thoughts and learn from each other.

T: Something tricky for me in this unit is the summative assessment. I didn’t prepare well for it, leading to some wrong questions. But, this is always a chance for me to know where to improve in the future, and i will do better preperations.

Social Studies Unit 1: Media Presentation

Ryan Wu Gold E2 Media Presentation Product Branding.MOV

For this unit, we learned about various forms of media and used one of them to create our own example. The first two pictures are the peer evaluation forms, which contain feedback that my classmates provided about my final project. The link is for the video of my final presentation.

One of the feedback that I got and incorporated is more hand gestures and a louder voice. After I received the feedback, I practiced my speech during lunch with different people to see if I improved. After practicing the speech multiple times, I finally got more confident and spoke in a louder voice and used hand gestures.

Something that I am proud of for this unit is completing everything on time, and also having more spare time to improve my project even more. I already completed the third class of preparation, and for the rest of the time, I peer-reviewed with a lot of different people and used their feedback to improve.

Something that I think I should improve on is the interactions with the audience during the presentation. I think next time I should smile more, add more eye contact, and have more hand gestures. By doing these, I can make myself seem more confident and make it more entertaining for the audience.

In conclusion, this unit was very fun and interesting, and we learned a lot about media.

Bias is…

I think bias is an unequal perspective against someone or something.

If people all have the same perspective, one positive thing about this is that conflicts and arguments will decrease. Normally, arguments and conflicts are caused when different people have different perspectives on one thing, and they will want others to believe in them. But, when people all have the same perspective, there will be nothing to argue with, because everyone thinks the same.

A bad thing that might happen when everyone is thinking the same thing is that everyone might make the same mistake. When they all think the same, their minds will also be the same, meaning the same decisions in their life. So, if someone makes a mistake, the others will follow and do the same thing.
