Unit 3 Summary Proportionality and Percentages.

This unit we learned how to find percentages in real world applications, for example like tips taxes and interests. For the final project I did a restaurant comparison it was between two pizza stores I needed to calculate the amount of two pizzas and calculate the difference between both of them I also learned how to calculate interest. Some formula ‘s we used was principle x interest x Time=Interest Earned.

We can use this in the future when we are eating in restaurants since after we eat we can use our own math skills to calculate the tax and tip so we won’t get scammed. We can also use this in future math for example in high school if we get questions like that I would be able to know how to solve it. Also if we are selling things in the future we can use interest equations to find a suitable price for selling a certain item. We can also calculate the percent change between two different stores so that we can save money.

Unit 2 visual presentation

Write a short paragraph explaining what the task was and why you chose to do your presentation in this format. 

The task I chose was to make different types of boats in time order for example I did the canoe the sails boat the motor boat and the cruise ship I made all of these boats and explained the positive and negative impacts they had on the society and environment. I chose this assignment because I like to play Minecraft and I think I can do a good job if I do my assignment on Minecraft.

Write one thing that you think you did well 

I think one thing I did well was when I built the boats I made them really realistic on the inside and on the outside for example for my cruise ship it is the biggest thing I have every built in Minecraft and I made the details really well for example I added the engine room, elevators, dining room and every single hotel room is identical the only thing that isn’t is the hotel rooms on every floor. I also think I explained the positive and negative impacts pretty well and my talking speed matched my video and I made a lot of eye contact.

Write one thing you think you need to work on for next time 

I think I need to work on displaying my positive and negative impacts better when I am building since I didn’t really show a lot and it was the main thing the teacher said on my commnet.

Unit 2 Reflection on Essay

Write a brief summary of what steps you went through to get to essay. 

The steps I went through is first I had to find three articles about my media which is boats then I need to jot down notes when I am reading the essay after that I had to put them into a graphic organizer and finally I put all of them into a essay and add a little more to each part.

One thing I did well in my essay. 

I think one thing I did well is I had a lot of good evidence and the evidences really supported the claim which made writing the reasoning easier and much more efficient.

One thing I still need to learn to do. 

One thing I still need to learn to do is how to write a good reasoning since in my comment even the teacher said the reasoning which is the most important part had a lot of run-on sentences so I think I need to learn how to punctuate every time when I write essays and paragraphs I also need to remember to check my work when I finish writing.

Me as a collaborator

I think I would rate myself as a meeting because I usually participate in class but I don’t always participate I also ask questions but not that often. Since I won’t complain that much if I am with only girls I would still work with them. I also won’t distract my classmates on purpose since I usually stay quiet when the teacher is talking. I also always submit my work on time as I do not want any homework at all.

Another student will say I participate but not enough so I need to participate more and ask more questions. I think I would improve by asking more question and talk more when I am told to.

Portfolio-U2 Summative

I think on the CERER I did a much better job than what I did on my formative because for the formative I didn’t get a single meeting and a exceeding but after I took the summative I got two meetings and two exceeding.

I am proud of getting so much better when I did the summative and I am also proud of me getting a meeting on my presentation because me being the last one to present made me really nervous and the person right before me is a person that does very good in everything. I am also proud of getting my outline a exceeding because I usually suck at language art but this semester my grades are actually pretty good.

Some challenges for me was the formative since as I have said I got a bad grade so the challenging part was to get a good grade on the formative and also was to try to focus in class because for me I sometimes have trouble focusing in class.

I think I used my feed back pretty well because in my formative I got a beginning on my citation and then I got a exceeding on my summative because after I got my scores back for the formative Ms.Devin explained on how to do the citations again and that time I listened really hard and practiced with her so I think thats why in the end I got a exceeding on my summative.

If I could redo the assignment I would write my claim more specific because I got a meeting instead of a exceeding on my claim because I didn’t write the other girls I wrote the society instead so I would need to write it more specific next time to get better grades.

A advice I would give is that next time in class continue focusing so I can get a good grade in the beginning and not trying super hard after I got a bad grade.

One goal is next time I would want to get exceeding on every thing my reasoning and my claim.

Science unit reflection

We had a project where we choose a essential question to make our project about one is what happens inside our bodies when we get sick? The second question is how does our body system work together when we play our favorite sport. I learned about how my muscular system and my respiratory system works together to help us swim since the muscular system can help us push and pull the water and the respiratory helps us breath. This shows that multiple cells are grouped together since the muscular system has special cells called muscle cells that groups together to help make the muscular system work.

I think group work helps because if we have parts that i don’t know i can ask my group for help and so that we can help each other making learning more efficient.

I need to work on using check lists because sometimes i get the part that is on the checklists wrong.

Design Tech RC Car

In this unit we built our own car with wood and then after that we use the website Onshape to design car parts so that each one of our cars are unique. I used onshape to built the top of a car we learned how to use sketch and extrude and fillit and other things too. In the end I designed a spider like shape top of a car. It was a little difficult at first because I broke my wrist so my friend Dexter had to help me built some difficult parts. In the end the car turned out great it looked pretty good and the process of building it was actually really fun since we get to be free and design by ourselves getting options to be creative and build things that we think looks good and like.

Design Tech Clock Project

In this project we first got assigned a client for me it was my Chinese teacher 吴老师, I drew 6 different clocks on a paper then I gave them to my client and asked for what did she want or if she had anything in mind. Then I wrote her requests on a paper and went back to my classroom and created it in Inkscape. After that I asked Mr. Hatt to help me laser cut it out, when it finished cutting I spray painted it but I didn’t spray paint it correctly because the color smeared all over the wood which ruined my clock so Mr. Hatt allowed me to make another one after that I learned from my mistakes so I didn’t use spray paint I used color pens instead so that I will have a smaller chance to smear the paint. In the end I completed the clock and gave it to my client.

Math Unit 2: Proportionality and Scale Drawings

What do you understand about this topic

What I understand about this topic is what is a scaled copy and what is a scale and what is a scale factor. I also know how to solve equations to find the perimeter and areas of scaled figures by looking at one.

What new information do you have

Some new information is that I learned that a scaled copy is a shape that is the same shape as the original shape but in a different size.

What is interesting about this unit?

What was interesting about this unit is that I learned how to find a area or a perimeter just by looking at the scaled copy and the original copy with some numbers.

What was tricky for you

What was tricky for me was to look at a scaled copy and a original copy with very little numbers because that makes it difficult for me to calculate as it takes lots of time and calculations.

ELA Unit 2 Formative #2 (CERER- Dystopian Characteristics)

What are you proud of?

I am proud of being able to choose two pieces of relevant evidence.

What were some challenges for you?

Some challenges for me is that I didn’t introduce the characteristics before diving into the question and I didn’t write my reasoning very well because it didn’t support the evidence very well it just rephrased my evidence. Something that was also challenging is that I didn’t really know how to do Conventions which includes transition words and citations, which means the teacher isn’t able to know my knowledge on conventions which lead to me getting a bad grade on that.

If you could redo this assignment what changes would you make?

If I could redo this assignment I would write my claim better and when I am writing my reasoning I would actually use it to support my evidence not just rephrasing the evidence. I would also use more transition words, citations which will make me able to prove my knowledge on Conventions.

What will you do between now and the summative to ensure you meet standards?

I would pay more attention in class so I understand the things my teacher say even more, so that next time on the summative I wont struggle on the things I did bad on the Formative.

What advice would you give yourself moving forward?

What advice is that I would pay more attention in class so that in future tests I won’t struggle on understanding things.
