Unit 1 profolio post

Do not talk to strangers, do not take random things from them

mom, dad, brothers, principal, teachers

They watch too much screens and it can ruin the way they look at themselves.

Do not listen to other thoughts people say about you. you are what you think you are. If you think you can you can. treat people how you want to be treated. mind your own business

know when to stop

Unit 4 destopian fiction reflection.

It is a messed up genre of fiction and it has 7 types totalitarianism, social control, conformity, illusion of utopia, control of nature, dehumanization, constant surveillance.

It makes me think that our world is good when in the book their idea is bad but sometimes there are good ideas and we are the ones who are weird and sometimes their idea is not always bad!

I engoyed the giver because I like cliff hangers and it was quite funny in some parts. From time to time I like reading messed up books because it makes me see the world in a different way.

I improved on writing a academic paragraph because I learned how to. break down a question like this: experiencing colors  change  the way Jonas views his community?” into this: experiences colors, which shifts his perspective of his community from _____ to _______.” It helps understanding the problem.

I became better at lit discussions by learning how to validate and build on each others ideas. And how to get ready for one.

vollyball reflection

what did I do

I did a lesson on vollyball

what did I learn

I learned to set, bump and serve

what went well

I got used to volly ball and I learned the different moves in vollyball.

wht did not go well

I took some time to get good at bumping because I will always miss.

personal relevance.

I think I did not bad because this was my first time I really did volleyball.

Math bake sale

What did I do:
We prepared a math bake sale by doing lots of paper work and converted lots of costs to metric system. And searched lots of The price, also we did lots of markup work and others to make this bake sale happen.

What did I learn:

I learned some of the U.S systems and how much they are in the metric system and I learned how sales decide their price.

What worked:

selling the truffles worked well because we sold out. And bargaining worked very well because I gave them a good fair price that they agreed to.

What did not work well:

Baking the goods was hard because It was far of of the photo but it tastes the same (tastes better).

How is this relevant for me:

Now I know the measurements of the U.S system and metric system Also I have experience in this kind of sales.

egg car challenge reflection

What did I do

I did an egg car challenge to keep my egg car safe.

What did I learn

There was the first law of motion because the car will stay at rest unless a force acts on it. So, my teacher dropped the car, and the force of gravity acted on it. And the third law was when the car hit the wall because it hit the car back with the same force. It states that if there is an action there will be an equal and opposite reaction.

 What worked

We made a good wall for the car which made the car slower.

What did not work

We did not but good protection to the sides and that is where it crashed. And the wheels came off.

Personal relevance

I think I did not bad. We did the okay. But we needed soe help on the car because we did not know that it will spin and the side. We only tested with a fake egg so no matter what it will not break so we did not know if it was safe enough. I think we did okay.

Balloon car

WHAT DID I DO:

I made a balloon car to test out the three laws of motion. I added weights to test out how far the car will go with a different amount of mass on it each time. I use metal axels, straws, caps, foam plates, tape, and a balloon.

WHAT DID I LEARN:

I learned the first law that an object will stay at rest unless a external force acts on it. For example if there is nothing bushing the car then the car will not move but if there is then it will.

The second law was that the force is equal to the mass times acceleration. An example to that is the more mass on the balloon car the more force I will need to move it

The third law was that To every action, there is always opposed an equal reaction. An example is that everything I do there will always be a reaction like if there is a force coming out of the car then it will move.

WHAT WORKED:

I understood the three Newtons laws of motion. I understood how they are everywhere in real life. I understood what they looked like right in front of me(balloon car)

WHAT DID NOT WORK:

Understanding the laws of motion at first. trying to get my balloon car to move fast and far. Data collection for the average for the length of the distance traveled took lots of time.

PERSONAL RELAVENCE:

The balloon car relates to the world by many ways like the more the mass the shorter distance it will travel or will need more force to move. for example if the object is moving then it will stay moving but if there is a force that acts on it then it will stop moving. Like the alka-syzer test there is the force of gravity and friction Same with the car the friction of the floor and air and the force of gravity.

Creative Writing Reflection

what are we doing:

Writing a fictional story based on a theme that matters to me.

what are we learning:

Theme (my purpose for writing this story, my message to readers)

Character Development (creating believable characters with positive & negative traits)

Plot (the sequence of events in my story; Western and Eastern approaches to storytelling)

Setting (the world that I create for my story)

what’s working:

I enjoyed planning the story characters and the setting.

I am proud of how well I described the setting.

I got the idea of my story because I realized that people in my school are thinking they do not need a hand to things then they fail and they blame it on others.

The school was this big red brick building that has a silver roof glittering in the air, he walked into the hot gym with materials he never seen before, tables were set up in neat lines, and in the gym was will of kids and among them was josh and henry. (I like this line because it is a very good description of the school and the gym.)

areas for growth:

It was challenging to plan the plot of the story.(It was challenging because it is hard for me to do plots and I have never done plots this way before.

The way I deal the problem by not thinking of anything and drawing the graph be emotions and how exiting the story is and wrote based of off that.

The part I did not like was when I did not do any show not tell and just told that he realized his mistake. I do not like t because it is really awkward.

personal relevance:

Creative writing can help you in real life because it can give you life lessons.

I like creative writing because there is not a rule like poetry and other types of writing. you can write what you want and yes, I will was to keep on doing it because it fells nice to tell and say what matters to me in a fun way

swimming reflection

What the lesson was about:

to teach us on how to snorkel safely and properly.

I learned:

to snorkel and how to talk under water and the position of swimming and practiced my swimming a bit more and how swimming with snorkels work and how to get ready with a partner.

What worked:

How do get ready understanding what we need to do to be safe during snorkeling what position your head should be.

What did not work:

My speed was a little slow and I could do better breathing with the tube.

Personal ralavence:

I think I did not bad this lesson. I understood stuff, I did stuff the right way and I was safe.
