Minecraft inspired Arduino and breadboard holder
In my physical computing class I would always end up with a mess of wires so I made a holder that can hold my Arduino and breadboard. The fox was designed in components which is harder than just having a multicolor print.
Doing this task helped me develop my Creative learner skills because I had to think outside the box to design a functional yet visually appealing holder. By breaking down the fox design into components, I learned to approach problems systematically and creatively, enhancing my problem-solving abilities in physical computing.

Outlandish Solutions: Critically thinking
How can you use an umbrella, a watch, and a wagon to rescue a cat from a tree?
Here’s my plan:
First, hook the umbrella onto the tree and place the shiny watch inside it. The curious cat will be drawn to the glimmer of the watch and hop into the umbrella. From there, it can safely descend into the wagon below.
This task helped me develop my Critical thinking skills because I had to analyze the situation and come up with an unconventional solution that required both creativity and practicality. By considering how the objects could interact in a unique way, I improved my ability to think critically about challenges and devise effective strategies.
—–Resilience—–
Designing a personal workout plan
In sports, I’ve always struggled with endurance, so I created a workout plan to enhance my cardio and core strength.
My plan is divided into three sections: warm-up, main workout, and cool down. Each movement is accompanied by illustrations to clarify how to perform it alongside its name.
This task helped me develop my resilience because I faced challenges in building my endurance but remained committed to my goal. Creating a structured workout plan allowed me to confront my weaknesses directly, teaching me the importance of persistence and adaptability in achieving my fitness objectives.
—–Skillful Communicator—–
Exploring Quenya and Sindarin in Lord of the Rings
I delivered a presentation on the Elvish languages Quenya and Sindarin, which were conlangs created by J.R.R. Tolkien, the author of “The Lord of the Rings.” I explored the intricate linguistics of these beautiful and poetic languages, and discussing their writing systems and the historical context that underpins them.
This presentation task helped me develop my communication skills by forcing me to convey complex linguistic concepts in an engaging way. I practiced organizing my thoughts clearly and effectively, ensuring that my audience could grasp the beauty and intricacies of Quenya and Sindarin while also improving my public speaking abilities.
—–Effective Collaborator—–
3 things that went well + what I am looking forward to tomorrow
My two wonderful friends brought me gifts from Chengdu after their vacation, and I was truly touched that they thought of me while they were away.
In return, I gifted them each a jellyfish aroma dispenser. It felt great to see their smiles, making for a really wholesome experience!
I’m feeling proud of myself for being productive and filling my extra time with course conversations. I’ve also mapped out the sessions I want to attend in the coming days.
I’m looking forward to my next Chinese class, as I heard we’ll be making traditional Chinese lanterns to hang in the hallways for the New Year!
This task helped me develop my effective collaborator skills because it reinforced the value of thoughtfulness and reciprocity in friendships. By exchanging gifts and sharing experiences, I learned how to foster positive relationships, work together towards common interests, and support my peers, which enhances our collaborative spirit.
