The first one was my first CER and I think I had a lot of points of improve and in the second although not perfect I still improved a bit.

My Student Led Conference 2024

I’d like to share:

  • What I’ve done and what I still want to achieve
  • Some areas of growth, struggles, and some of my work
  • My goals and how I plan to achieve them

Some of the things included on my vision board are:

  • Adapting
  • Time Management
  • Competitive
  • Travel

These are important because I want to adapt to different things and be able to manage my time well and travel more often.

My Goals Are:

  1. I wish to be more on top of things and be able to at least get meeting for all my classes
  2. I wish to focus more in class and participate more
  3. I want to practice more at my sports and be more committed

I have been able to make progress with these goals because I was able to practice more at my sports while also working on putting in a lot more time to work on my homework and listen more in class.

Core Subject: Language Arts 📖

Strengths

  • Growing with feedback
  • Communicating with teacher
  • Being able to finish work on time

Areas of Growth

  • Reflecting
  • Looking at specific details
  • Reading/Writing passport

English

Netflix Narrative (L4) 3.5

-The highlighted part are the parts that I edited from the original made by AI.

I chose this assessment because it was one of the first narrative writings that we did with AI. I feel like I learnt a lot about writing a narrative and expanding on one scene as much as I can while writing this. At first, it was hard to expand on one scene as much, but thinking about the detail and getting lots feedback and using the AI I was able to create the final product.

Motivational Speech and Group Public Speaking Final (L4) 2->4

I chose these 2 assessments to compare and show the growth between the two speeches. The first one I had a difficult time delivering a motivational speech because of a slip up and lack of preparing. However, in the second one I could see my growth from the practices and the feedback I got from my peers and I think these two speeches show my growth the most during this unit and in english.

Core Subject: Math 🧮

Strengths

  • Solving equations
  • Use critical thinking to solve harder questions
  • Graphing

Areas of Growth

  • Going outside my comfort zone
  • Practicing more
  • Word problems

Math

Mini Triangle Congruence COL (L4) 3.5

I chose this assessment because it was the first one that I had tried the L4 in because I didn’t attempt other times, but this time I did and it shows growth. I think this unit was one that I understood the most because this unit was very clear and it was easier to understand and study for.

Sticker Design (L4) 3

I chose this assessment because it was fun and showed creativity and we could interpret it our own way. In math it can sometimes be hard to show math in other ways, but I think this assessment allowed us to do that. The creation of the sticker in general was a bit harder than expected.

Core Subject: Social Studies 🌏

Strengths

  • Independent work
  • Managing time
  • Detailing

Areas of Growth

  • Conferring with the teacher
  • Taking notes
  • Getting efficient resources

Social Studies

WW1 Impact Analysis Assessment (L4) L3 -Resubmission

  • The main part that I revised to make it better was the last paragraph

I chose this artifact because at first I had 2.5, but then there was a resubmission. I think that this was the first assessment that I showed an improvement with the feedback. Because I showed readjustments in the evidence and in the last paragraph giving more detail.

Crossfire Debates (L4) 14.5

I chose this because I think this assessment was what I could’ve improved on the most. This unit, in my opinion, was the most enjoyable, but I feel like I could’ve done better during the debates. I think I didn’t show as much as I could and I didn’t prepare as much before the debate and if I had then i think I could’ve gotten a better grade.

VMM

AABA Song Composition (L3) 3

I chose this artifact because it was fairly challenging. When I first joined VMM I was going to chose piano as my instrument as I had experience from it in the beginning. However, I couldn’t and this was the first time I needed to compose something especially with the guitar, but I was glad that I was able to do it and get a meeting.

Cover Song (L4) 3.5

This unit was really enjoyable and when I first came to class I was looking forward to do the cover song unit because I heard it was fun. When we first started I was glad that I got to chose the song that I wanted and the people in it were good as well. I was a little nervous about performing with the guitar since I was still new to the instrument, but in the end I was still able to perform well and at my level.

PE

Swimming water polo (L4)-3,3.5

I chose this artifact because this unit was very enjoyable and it was something that was kind of difficult as well. Swimming is a sport that I feel that I am confident in and that I would find really enjoying. I feel like in this unit I could learn a lot of skills and learn a new sport.

Soccer (L4) 3

I chose this because I remember this unit the most. This unit was one of the first units and it was really hot and challenging to do it in the sun. However, I remember learning new skills and playing games and it was overall pretty good sport that I could further learn.

Spanish

Poster-Healthy Habits (L4) 3

I chose this because in this assessment I got feedback that I was a good skillful communicator during my presentation, but that I should improve my conjugations. I think I could’ve presented this better and used more language and studied harder for this assessment to aim for a 4 though.

Quiz: diálogo entre paciente y doctor, verbo doler (L3) 2.5

I chose this quiz because I got 2.5 and I feel like I could’ve done better. This quiz reflected the amount of work I would need to put into spanish in the future of the other tests so I can improve my spanish. I think I have difficulty conjugating and remembering the different tenses so focusing on that will be better.

Passion Project

My passion project is making a video of 4 people playing games. This video is inspired by the Korean Gaming show called “Earth Arcade” We aimed to film the video and then edit it so that we could present it by the end of the passion project date.

TTG Goals

My TTG Goal (Transfer goal) is
• Asks relevant questions to stimulate reflection

Because my main goal is to reflect on my work and what I do during and after class. Asking more relevant questions and participating more in class, which has been one of my goals for a long time now.

Our Mental Health Unit

Media

  • Social Media influences teen’s mental health by having misleading information and stereotypes that sways the way a teen might view a topic. For example, the stereotype of what to look like or act like as a boy or girl might force a teen to act that way.
  • Social Media is addicting and can be a negative influence on teens mental health because of the amount of time that teens spend on the apps.

Mental Health Stigma

  • I think mental health stigma exists because of the stereotypes we see in movies and in real life. I used to think that mental health stigma was just how we view a mental health disorder, but now I think that mental health stigma can be very damaging to other people who have the illness.
  • Some ways to end mental health stigma is to educate yourself and others about certain illnesses to fully understand what it is. We can listen to other people and their stories to fully understand how it feels to have a mental health illness.

Summary

  • I have learnt that mental health illnesses have a different range of serverness and it isn’t just what is perceived online. The mental illnesses are not what is just seen online, but there are different ways to treat it and we never know what they’re going through.

Reflection for Teen Screen Project

B1 The claim was introduced, but the evidence shown was sometimes maybe not clear. I think I could’ve prepared a bit better and prepared more so that we knew when to talk and what to talk about. I think I don’t think that we had enough time to do it and I think many people could relate. My opinion on cell phone usage is that I feel like people will be able to use their phones to connect to their friends as well as just using it for social media, but it might affect their mental health it is a good point. Because the online society might pressure people to be better. I will try to get enough sleep next year and whenever I need to do something I will turn off my phone so I get all my work done.

Welcome to Your New Portfolio!

Why have a digital portfolio at SAS?

Creating a portfolio, or blog is a great way to collect all the work you’ve done throughout your academic career. You can include academic, athletic, and personal artifacts or experiences that you want to share with a wider audience. This is a great way to organize all your learning in one place and you can take it with you when you leave SAS.  When you make your portfolio, you create posts that are categorized according to your subject. Some categories have already been set up for you, but if you need more categories you can add them as needed. It’s important that your posts have the following:

  • An engaging title – this should not include the name of the subject since this is referenced in the category. Think of this as the first opportunity to engage and hook your reader!
  • Body – this is where you share your learning. This should include a combination of text and media in the form of images, graphics, and embedded videos. You should always consider how your post looks to your audience. Is it engaging and organized? Do they want to keep reading?
  • Category – select one that has been set for you or add a new category. Posts can have more than one category e.g. Humanities and Myself as a Learner
  • Tags – create tags that can be used as keywords to describe your post. Tags help organize your post a little more! Aim to have 3-5 tags for each post. For example, if you are posting about a novel you wrote, you might want the following tags: #Fiction, #MurderMystery, #Theme, #PlotDiagram
