My Student Led Conference 2025

My Vision Board

Some of the things included on my vision board are:

  • I included an image of math because I really enjoy this subject my goals include understanding the topic better.
  • I included an image of science because it is one of my weaker subjects and one of my goals was to improve my active learner grades in science
  • I included an image of homework because sometimes I don’t hand in my homework on time.
  • I included a picture of target because I hope that I can stick to my goals and remain focused.

My Goals Are:

  1. I aim to improve my grades in science by actively engaging in class and seeking help when I need it. This commitment will involve studying regularly and participating in discussions to deepen my understanding of scientific concepts.

2. I will focus on developing a consistent homework routine to ensure I submit all assignments on time. By organizing my schedule and prioritizing tasks, I will enhance my time management skills and reduce stress.

3. I intend to deepen my understanding of math topics by seeking clarification on challenging concepts and practicing regularly. This goal will involve utilizing resources like tutoring, study groups, or online materials to reinforce my learning.

Here is evidence of how I was able to start to make progress towards my goals.

Being able to keep multiple ideas in my head. This helps me manage my workload!

Areas of Growth

Some of the skills I would like to grow in are…

Organization

I lose a lot of things and have trouble figuring out what is due when

Staying Positive

Sometimes I have am too hard on myself and don’t give myself grace and the space to fail before I learn.

cell phone usage in high school

My evidence revealed the negative impact on teenagers. For example, sleep deprivation or distraction in class. Also, their relationships with people around them might not be as positive because the technology might pull them apart, so instead of communicating face to face, they will communicate by using their electronics.

in my opinion, increased cell phone usage has a negative impact on my social and emotional health because the longer I spend on my phone, the less connected I am to the rest of the world, and my relationship with the people around me (for example, my friends and family) might not be as positive as before. I think most of the teachers and parents will agree with my findings and reasoning because most of them might actually have experienced what is happening.

A method I am using to ensure my relationships with others are positive is by just keeping it away in a place where it can’t distract me.

Welcome to Your New Portfolio!

Why have a digital portfolio at SAS?

Creating a portfolio, or blog is a great way to collect all the work you’ve done throughout your academic career. You can include academic, athletic, and personal artifacts or experiences that you want to share with a wider audience. This is a great way to organize all your learning in one place and you can take it with you when you leave SAS.  When you make your portfolio, you create posts that are categorized according to your subject. Some categories have already been set up for you, but if you need more categories you can add them as needed. It’s important that your posts have the following:

  • An engaging title – this should not include the name of the subject since this is referenced in the category. Think of this as the first opportunity to engage and hook your reader!
  • Body – this is where you share your learning. This should include a combination of text and media in the form of images, graphics, and embedded videos. You should always consider how your post looks to your audience. Is it engaging and organized? Do they want to keep reading?
  • Category – select one that has been set for you or add a new category. Posts can have more than one category e.g. Humanities and Myself as a Learner
  • Tags – create tags that can be used as keywords to describe your post. Tags help organize your post a little more! Aim to have 3-5 tags for each post. For example, if you are posting about a novel you wrote, you might want the following tags: #Fiction, #MurderMystery, #Theme, #PlotDiagram
