Math Unit 3: Proportionality and Percentages

We learned many new things this unit examples are new formulas, vocabulary methods and more. In this unit we explored deeply into percentages, how we can find the differences between 2 numbers. If it’s a decrease or increase and by how much percent. One thing I am proud of is getting a good grade on the test. Something that I could improve on is explaining my work. For my project I did it about 2 restaurants price compared. I did Burger King vs. Mcdonalds at first I chose to do Pizza Marzano vs Luke’s bistro but then I changed it because I made a mistake and it had to be restaurants in the US. So that’s when I changed the topic. My presentation is attached below.

Below this is my summary sheet which we have to do every unit.

Social Studies Unit 2: Visual Presentation

After making the essay that I explained in my past portfolio post I had to create a creative project. I made a Choose-Your-Own adventure book.

The reason why I did this is because there was an author visit that said that they had choose your own adventure books. Which is why I made a choose your own adventure book. I made many pages of it and also created a planner. I learned that choose your own adventure books need lots of preparation and planning.

I actually restarted my choose your own adventure book first because it wasn’t very inclusive to trains and didn’t have that much information so I restarted it and made the newest version at the bottom.

I did well at being able to write a 29 page book.

Social Studies Unit 2: Essay

In this Unit, for social studies we had to pick a communication or transportation tech to find how it impacted a place. I picked the train(Transportation) and how it impacted the United States.

I had to find 3 articles to annotate. I annotated the articles and converted all the information to a graphic organizer. The organizer was very useful. After this I had to create a basic planner with all the information on it. This is the basic essay. In the essay I had to include, the introduction, positive impacts, negative impacts, how people tried to solve the negative impacts, and the conclusion. After this, I copy pasted all the information into the real essay. I also had to add things like sources, quotes, transition words and more. My essay is below.

Some things I did well was the information, but at the start my time management may need a little bit of improvement. I am proud of being able to write an essay and getting a 3.

Language Arts Colaborator Reflection

There are many times for collaboration in language arts. Some times are like when Andy and I had to collaborate to create a GoFundMe (Crowdfunding) . Another time is like when Aaron and I made a mini story in extended learning about a dystopian place. There are some more things that I probably forgot about. Collaboration comes a lot and is very important. Below is my attached GoFundMe.

Science Unit 2 Cells and Body systems

In this unit, my essential question was: How do our body systems work together when we play our favorite sports? We learned about the 5 levels of a cell. Cells, tissues, organ organ systems and organism. For my first project I did the digestive system with my partner Aaron. Our work was decent and we chose to do the lifesize mode.

Next we worked on a cellular level. What was inside of cells. There are many organelles inside of the cell and each have different functions that support the cell as a whole. For the L3 project we had to make a jello and candy model that can represent a cell. I did an animal cell and it looked like the picture below. Another L3 is another representation of a cell. This is our campus that represents our cell below the jello picture.

For the final project, we made a model. A mini model that is like a pop mart collectable. Also with a CER as the pamphlet. Below is the pamphlet.

Language arts Unit 2 Dystopian

In this language arts we explored a type of book genre. The genre is dystopian. We also learned many things like conflicts, CERER’s, dystopian characteristics, read short stories, and analyzed characters. Some character things are, whether they are round or flat. Dynamic or static. I took a formative and summative. Below it’s my summative about language arts conflicts. It’s in the story about ponies. My summative is much better than my formative. Also below is my outline about a mini presentation of a book that we have to write next unit. I got a meeting for this. Some things I’m proud of is improving so much from my formative to summative. Some advice is to study more. One goal for future work is to get a better formative score.

PE Outdoor invasion(Soccer) and Swimming

In this unit I practiced shooting on target as well as dribbling and passing in soccer. This unit was pretty fun and exciting because soccer is a fun sport. In soccer I got 2 4’s for the 2 L4’s which is pretty good because I mostly don’t get 4’s for PE. Mostly 3’s. Soccer was fun because we got to play mostly games and not much practice which maximizes efficiency. Swimming was also okay. In 7th grade swimming, you do something called artistic swimming. My partners were Henry and Tatsu. Swimming in school helped me refresh my skills because at the start of the unit, I mostly forgot everything but by the end I could swim again. This is good because if I went any longer without swimming I would probably forget it

Health Unit 3 Healthy Decision Making

The DECIDE model can help somebody thoroughly understand a problem and come up with a response/solution. The DECIDE model is an acronym. D for decide. E for explore your options. C stands for consequences. I stands for identify your values. D stands for decide. E stands for evaluate your decision. The DECIDE model is good for any type of situation, even though you made need time to do the model well. This is because the decide model includes all aspects of decision which your brain does automatically when thinking. Except it lists it out making you think further. You can also use a shortened version of the DECIDE model with only explore your options, consequences and identify. The DECIDE model can be really useful for decision within peer pressure.

Below is our decide model about an older cousin who’s 17 and offered a nicotine pouch.

In this unit we also learned about different consequences for different drugs and also some websites where you can get different types of information. Some consequences I learned are that: Alcohol gives physical and mental damage. Addiction, dizzy/nauseous and can also give you hangover the next morning with vomiting. Painkillers/medication can make you lose track of movement and make you have financial issues. Vapes make you have less oxygen in blood, lung injury, cancer memory loss, harm brain development, harm blood vessels and more. Cigarettes can destroy lungs, teeth more prone to cancer, stinky clothes, black teeth, hard to breath. The sheet that we discovered these is in the bottom left. The website that we explored is called Nemours Teen Health. The purpose of the site is for parents, kids and teens to discover good information and give advice/tips. Some good features are the wide category of topics, the expert answers section and videos. Some answers that you can get from the website is how to live a healthy lifestyle, mentally and physically. The expert answer section is good because it has commonly asked questions and answers that you might not feel comfortable asking someone face to face. This paper is on the bottom right corner.

Math Unit 2 Proportionality and Scale Drawings

In Unit 2, I understood the math and I feel confident if I get tested on it. Some new information that I learned was that the Area SF is the SF squared. The perimeter SF is just the SF. Some tricky things were making sure I don’t forget to put units if I forget. For grades, I got a 3,3.5,4 exceedings for one of the standards and for the last standard, 2 exceedings and 2 meetings. What was interesting was that there were cool patterns that I didn’t know about.

ELA Unit 2 Formative #2 (CERER-Dystopian Characteristics)

Compared to last test, I got better grades. Last time, I got a 2 in general out of the max of 3. I got a 3, 3, 2 and 2. For a total grade of 10/12. This means that I improved. I mostly followed the rubric and made sure that I had everything on it. One thing i didn’t particularly use was key words in the reasoning relating to the claim. I did well in adding evidence that relates to the claim.

If I was to redo that assessment, I would make the claim more broad, and more subjected to other things outside of the story like the world. My claim was too specific to the story. I would pay closer attention to the rubric, read over my work and read directions.

Some specific bots i will use to practice, is the CERER bot, and operation quote control. I can go back to slides 130-140 to review conventions and improve. Some advice is to make sure I make my CERER’s relate to not only the story.

Find my CERER in the pictures below.
