Me as Collaborator

When I was placed in new table groups, I didn’t act very angry or anything, and I also didn’t say/insist that I needed to sit with my friends.

When I was asked to turn and talk to my partner, I usually talk to them, but maybe could speak some more.

I should probably raise my hand more in class discussions, because I am mostly a quiet person in class, so I need to participate more.

When my partner and I work on our dystopian story in Unit 2, we collaborated well by discussing our plot line, and divided our work to do between us.

When I worked with my partner creating the product branding in Unit 1, we collaborated by discussing what to write and also dividing de work between us evenly.

I think I might be Meeting as a collaborator, because even though I barely talk in class discussions, I participate, and collaborate good in partner work.

Another student might describe my collaboration in class as, according to a classmate,”Similar to other students.”

Something I will improve starting in January is my participation is class discussions.

Math Unit 3: Proportionality, and Percentages

What do you understand about the topic?

Something that I understand the best in this topic is percent equations, because I think it is the most easiest, where you only have to do one step to solve the equation.

What new information do you have?

Something new that I learned in this unit is, the percent equation, percent change equation, and how to add the tax and tip to the original price, to get the total cost.

What is interesting about the unit?

Something that is interesting about the unit is that everything I learned comes in handy in real life.

What was tricky for you?

Something that was tricky for me is to balance out my time equally, because in assessments, I spent too much time on the first few problems, so I didn’t have time to do the last few questions.

Language Art U2 Summative

I think my summative was better, because for the essay, I only had conventions in aproaching (which I re-assesed and got changed into meeting) , but for my formative, I had approaching in claim, reasoning, and conventions. Plus, my pitch presentation was meeting, so the overall score was meeting after re-assessing the conventions in my CER. Something I’m proud of is my eye contact in my pitch presentation, and I didn’t rely on my notecards. One of the challenges for me is to write the reasoning, because I don’t know how to connect the evidence with the reasoning. If I can redo the summative assessment, then I would summarize the claim or evidence, and speak more louder. An advice I would give myself in Unit 3 is to work on my time management, and stop procrastinating. One goal for the future is to read more books.

Social Studies Unit 2: Visual Presentation

So I chose to do my presentation in the form of stop-motion, because you can be a little more creative in a stop-motion video than just a plain video.

Something I did well is that I created my stop-motion with a lot of images and color. Something I need to work on next time is to explain or summarise my video to the audience in the future.

Social Studies Unit 2: Essay

The steps I went through to get the essay, is at first, I found 4 articles about the positive and negative impacts of airplanes in China, printed them out and annotated it, and then wrote the information on a graphic organizer. Later I wrote the introduction, evidence reasoning and conclusion.

Something I did well on is my evidence because I have a lot of good evidence in my essay. Something I need to work on is my reasoning. That is because my reasoning is a little shorter than my evidence. I will change that by explaining more about why the evidence connects to the reasoning.

Health Unit 3 DECIDE Model

The decide model is helpful when you make hard decisions, especially those involving peer pressure. That is because it can show you both the negative and positive effects of the different choices, and can help you better compare the choices and choose from them.

I learnt that cigarette can cause lung cancer, to much prescription drugs can make you get addicted to it, and make you immune to the effects of small amounts of prescription drugs, and you can get addicted to nicotine too.

DT Unit 1 Laser cutting Clock Reflection

I learned how to use inkscape to lasercut, and spray paint. I also learnt how to use wood glue and install the clock hands. I did well on laser cutting the clock. Some challenges were to install the clock hands, because you need to get the perfect order to instal the different components or else you won’t be able to instal it. Some thing I need to work on is spray painting, because I sprayed it too thick and it leaked a little. I can apply this in real life in the future, because when I want to make a clock, I can use what i learned here to make it.

ELA Unit 2 Formative #2 (CERER-Dystopian Characteristics)

Something I am proud of is choosing good quotes for evidence.

Some challenges for me is to write a claim that connects more to the story, writing my CERER paragraph in good grammar, and explaining how the evidence supports the claim in my reasoning.

If I could redo the assessment, I would change my claim to mention the dystopian characteristic I chose. I would change my reasoning so that I explain how the evidence connects to the claim, and connect back to key words in the claim. I would also change my comma preceding in my quotes, punctuation surrounding quotes, and internal citations.

I will practice the CERER Writing bot, operation quote control and MLA in-text citation bot to ensure I meet standards.

A advice I would give myself is to pace the speed of my writing, mention the dystopian characteristic I choose in the claim and evidence, and connect the evidence to the claim in the reasoning.

Unit 2 Language Arts Formative #1

I am proud that I did all of the multiple choice question right, and met the standards. Some challenges for me is to write the CER about the windows, because I spent most of my time on it, and I got an approaching on it. If I could redo this assessment, I would change my CER about windows by explaining how it is a window for me. Something I would do between now and the next formative to ensure I meet standards is to practice my windows CER, by maybe writing a window CER of the dystopian book I am reading now. Some advice I would give myself moving forward is to try to pace myself, because I spent to much time on the multiple choice and the mirror CER, that I had to rush the window CER.
