PE Badminton Reflection

What did you learn? I learned how to do a back hand serve, forehand serve, and 2 different types of grips. I also improved my serving technique. For example, when you do a forehand serve, you’ll have to first throw the ball up a bit, then hit the ball.

What helped? The practices each class helped me to improve my skills when playing games.

What is something you are proud of? I can now play games at a higher level. Last year, I can only serve the ball but I can’t play continuously. This year, I can play with a lot of higher level people and I can play games.

What is something you can work on? I can work on how to get/hit the ball when my opponent does a smash/overhand stroke. I want to work on hitting back fast strokes.

Social Studies Unit 2: Essay 🎄

In this unit, I wrote an essay of helicopters impacted the American society. First, I found 3 articles about the pros, cons, and solution about the helicopter. Then, I used a planner for essay and took notes of all the important information on it. Next, I started to write my writing. I wrote the pros and cons first, then wrote the resolution, and wrote the hook last. Last but not least, I checked my work to make sure there are no grammar or vague information.

What I did well: I made my writing clear and easy to understand. I also had a lot of strong evidence which helps me to make my whole writing more persuasive. Additionally, I did double check my writing, however, there are still some small errors that my teacher pointed out. I tried my best to make myself more focused and organized when writing this essay.

What I could improve on: I could add in more reasoning compared to how much I wrote for my evidence so that my writing doesn’t read like a ‘AI writing’ (in my opinion). Furthermore, I should follow the order according to the order I used for my claim. For example, I mentioned hearing loss before diseases, this means that I should introduce hearing loss first, not diseases.

Language Arts: Me as a Collaborator🎄

How would you rate yourself as a collaborator? I would rate myself 2.5-3 as a collaborator. I do listen attentively and participate most of the time, however, I do only speak when someone tells me to. I will take clean up my table and but. the notebooks when needed to, but I don’t talk that much when placed into new tabe groups.

How would another student describe your collaboration in class? I listen really well but doesn’t speak unless someone tells me to. But for pair work, I speak more and participate more.

What will you do to improve starting in January? I feel like the reason that I talk more in front of my friends and doing pair work is because I am more familiar with them so I would talk more. Starting from January, I will start talking to more people, not only my friends. This way, I get more comfortable and confident when collaborating with others.

Math Unit 3: Proportionalit and Percentage

What do you understand about the topic? I learned how to draw a double number line and a tape diagram. These number lines are pretty different to the ones compared to my old school so I had to learn 2 new ways to draw the number line and not get mixed by these 3.

What was tricky for you? I couldn’t memorize the 6 percent equations. I do use another way before which is x/x*100 to find the percent change. In summary, I had a difficulty to memorize the percent equations.

What is interesting about the unit? The warm up before class was pretty interesting since you only need to do one question and you can still learn and practice what you know. It was interesting drawing tape diagrams and double number lines according to the information given.

What new information do you have? I learned several new ways to find the percent change. I also learned how to draw number lines according to the word problems given. This helped me to understand better of what I’m required to do.

U2 ELA Summative Reflection🎄

For my pitch, my voice was loud and I introduced my idea fluently. However, I did rely on my notecards at first, though the rest was better. For my CERER, I prepared, but I feel like it’s a bit off topic. And I wrote a colon into comma, so I got a 3 for convention instead of 4. For the outline, it was a bit rush so I had a lot of mistakes and I didn’t check my work.

How do you think your summatives compared to your formatives? My formative was way much better than my summative. For the formative CERER, since it was a L3, I got a lot of 3s. However, for the summative, I got 3s and 2s which was really bad since it was a L4.

What are you proud of? This was my second time talking in front of the whole class in SAS. So I was nervous and scared that I would forget what to say. However, the teacher’s comment that I read fluently and loud enought, that was quite surprising.

How effectively did you use feedback? I checked the teacher’s feedback to see what I could improve on. However, some of these feedbacks were quite difficult to change.

What were some challenges for you? I didn’t know what to write for my outline so I left it to do the day before I had too submit. It was quite rush so I just wrote down what I could think of.

If you could redo the summative assessment, what changes would you make? I would check my writing after I finished so that I could get a 4 for convention. Also, by reading through my writing, I could make sure that all of these information are on topic.

Design Technology Reflections (clock)

What I did: I first planned out 6 ideas for my clock. Then I chose the best one and made it on inkscape. My teacher helped me laser cut it and then I painted it. Lastly, I made a reflection about it.

What I found difficult: The inkscape part was quite difficult. I couldn’t make different shapes with these tools. So I was on that part for about 4 classes.

Design Technology Reflection (Race Cars)

What I learned: I learned how to make the wheel and tail fin of my race car using the website ‘onshape’. I also learned the functions of different tools in ‘onshape’.

What I found difficult: When building the race car, it was really easy to misunderstand step 11. There is a small piece of hole that helps you to identify if you have to put it on the left or right. And if you don’t look at the picture carefully, you will have to take it off and do it again.

What I did: I make my tail fin and wheel, then my teacher helped me to 3D print it. I also builded my own race car.

PE Soccer Reflection

What did you learn? I learned how to dribble a ball with the inner side of my feet and how to pass the ball to my team-mates straightly. I also learned the rules of soccer.

What helped? The games that we played in class helped me wo understand the soccer rules more. It also helped me to practice and improve my soccer skills.

What is something you are proud of? Last year, I can’t dribble a ball and shoot it into the goal. But this year I can shoot a ball into the goal with a far distance. When I’m the defender, I can also block my opponents from shooting the ball.

What is something you can work on? I want to work on getting the ball from my opponents and block the ball from getting into the goal when I’m the goalie.

Math Unit 2: Proportionality and Scale Drawings

What do you understand about the topic? I learned a lot of new vocabulary words: scale factor, corresponding side, area scale factor, SF= copy/original, copy= original*scale factor and original= copy/scale factor.

What new information do you have? I learned what the word ‘scale factor’ means and what ‘area scale factor’ means, I also learned how to find the scale factor and area scale factor. For example: we use the equation ‘SF= copy/original’ when finding the scale factor and we square the scale factor inorder to find the area scale factor.

What is interesting about the unit? This unit wasn’t that interesting but it’s good that I learned new math vocabularies.

What was tricky for you? I sometimes find it difficult tp understand which is the original figure and which is the copy. And if I get that wrong, my whole question would be wrong.

U4 PE Swimming Reflection

In this unit, I learned techniques to trap water, how to float on the water, how to handstand, and how to collaborate with my teammates. We also learned how to oyster, and and different surface movements such as lifting. Additionally, we learned different types of ways to jump into the water such as ways to make huge water splashes.

I found it difficult to lift others up using my body, whenever they get up they don’t get the balance. I will work on lifting others up with a better balance.

I found it easy to jump out of the water following a backflip, it is easy to stand on my partners shoulder and being lifted with good balance.
