Math Unit 3 – Proportionality and Percentages Reflection

We learnt about percent equations (how to find the part and whole in percentage questions) and how to find percent change, how to find tax and tip, how we can apply this to real life. I am confident about all these concepts, and my ability to solve problems based on them.

A new concept that I learnt was percent change.

A topic that specifically interested me was tax and tip, as it relates directly to real life. Tip also matters a lot in the US.

Calculating simple interest was a challenge until we were taught the formula.

In this unit, we learnt about features, conflicts, and types of characters in Dystopian stories. We wrote a CER analysing a story’s conflict, and then made an outline of our own dystopian story and presented it to the class.

I think I did better in my summative assessments than formatives, as I got an “Exceeding” grade for the evidence standard in the summative, when I got a “Meeting” grade in the formative.

I am proud of being able to get an “Exceeding” grade in pitch presentation, and the same for most of the CERER standards.

I used feedback from the CERER formative in order to reach the 3.75 grade that I got for the summative.

If I could redo the assessment, I would be more precise, as I didn’t get an “Exceeding” grade for the claim standard just because I needed to be specific about the sides of the conflict.

Like mentioned in the previous answer, I would just be more precise.

I think I didn’t reach full potential in the “Argumentative Writing” standard, as again, the comments say that I wasn’t precise. I didn’t read too much during this unit, which I think also led me to a “Meeting” grade.

Math Unit 2 Reflection

In this unit, we learnt about percentages, percent change, conversion, and using tax, tip, and simple interest, as well as how to find part, whole, and percentage with a formula. I learnt how to calculate percent change, and calculate tax, tip, and interest more accurately. What was interesting is that in classes, we put tax and tip on the same amount, despite tip being put in tax. I struggled with calculating simple interest until a simple, ultimate formula was introduced.

Science U2 Reflection – In Full

Part 1: Essential Question and Standard Reflection

I chose to answer the question regarding sports. I learnt about the various functions and structures of organelles and body systems in order to connect the dots and create a presentation. For example, I learnt the functions of ribosomes, nucleus. I connected the dots by realising that the nucleus holds the DNA that instructions for the ribosomes to synthesise protein. This relates to the idea that the body is a system of subsystem of cells. This is because things that occur in the body system level happen as a result of cells’ interactions.

Part 2: Learning Experiences

Although the dissections caused a tiny bit of trauma, it helped me see literally what’s going on inside organs, but it didn’t help me learn, per se. The final blind box project helped me go free without specific things to learn, which helped me learn some new things. I think I learn better with just being given information and then reviewing it countless times.

Part 3: Improvements

I think I could improve by aiming at “Exceeding” grades more, as I didn’t really try to this unit. I believe that trying harder can help me get into the mindset of getting higher grades. This unit, I only focused on getting “Meeting” grades at the most.

DT Unit 2 Reflection

What did we do?

We assembled an RC car, then modified a part by making a 3D model and getting it printed.

What did you struggle with?

I struggled with catching up after I missed a day. I still caught up, learning from the unit before.

What did we learn?

I learnt how to use the software OnShape and make a 3D model.

DT Unit 1 – Reflection

https://www.canva.com/design/DAGxy9tsqrg/k3IKOGgOCh2tDRaOEvKnUA/edit

What did we do?

We made clocks for teachers, going through the design process.

What did you learn from creating?

In the practical, unit-related things, I learnt how to assemble a DIY clock, to spray paint, and design. I also learnt to manage my time better, to be more careful, and keep track of my progress. I took to much time getting materials and spray painted wrong, and glued the wrong spot once.

What did you struggle with?

I struggled with managing time and spray painting. I failed to spray paint multiple times, and ended up finished on the last day, the assignments were finished the lesson after the last day.

Math Unit 2 Reflection

In this unit, we learnt about scale drawings, scale factors, and related topics. I feel confident about determining (area) scale factor, finding lengths between scale drawings, and the unit as a whole. There were no new concepts, due to a math class that I used to go to. When there are two triangles across from each other where the bases are parallel and the lines follow through, they are equivalent ratios, which I find interesting. The concepts learnt during this unit connect to my interest for cartography and maps. The only challenge I really had was showing work and reading instructions.

ELA U2 Formative #2 Reflection

Positives

I didn’t really practice other than the one CERER that we had to do between the formatives, but I still did well in both. I followed to rubric, and I according to the rubric, I did all parts of the CERER well.

Challenges

A challenge was the wording, and what evidences to choose, because the text only really said one thing repeatedly.

What would you do differently?

I would try to write the claim in a more clear way that is structured so that the message is explained, rather than how.

What will you do now and what advice would you give yourself?

Since I already meet standards, I would just try not to forget, and since the summative is soon, that wouldn’t be hard. I would tell myself to reread what I have written down if I have time.

ELA Unit #2 Formative #1 Reflection

What are you proud of?

I am proud of being able to write the CERs (understanding of mirror and window), understanding questions and understanding the answers I wrote (understanding the types of characters like dynamic and round, and understanding the types of conflicts like Man vs. Man)

What were some challenges?

A challenge was coming up with a window, because even though the story is different from my life, it’s hard to exactly find points that are different that are recurring in the story.

If you could redo the assessment, what changes would you make?

I would think more deeply about the mirror and window, because I don’t think that they were that good, particularly the window.

What will you do between now and the next formative to ensure that you meet standards?

I already meet the standards, but I will keep listening to classes so I don’t fall off the learning train I just boarded.

What advice would you give yourself moving forward?

Making sure to participate in classes in ways such as, but not limited to: asking questions and listening to instructions.

Maths Unit 1 – Proportions Reflection

What do you understand about this topic?

I understand how to find CoPs, find if two points are proportional, graphing proportional relationships, finding equations and writings tables for proportional relationships.

What new information do you have?

Before, I did not know what the CoP meant. Now I do.

What is interesting about the unit?

I think that the fact that there are many ways to define the key terms of this unit is interesting.

What was tricky?

I think not making stupid mistakes like calculation mistakes is annoying but I do it a lot.
