Unit 4 DystopianFiction Reflection

What did I learn? I learned about what is Dystopian fiction and how to write academic paragraph better

How does Dystopian Fiction invite me to think about real life? In the Dystopian fiction The Giver showed me about the society doesn’t have freedom, they have strict rules, and when people get release they do not care, but they never starve, they never worry about getting hurt or having war, in real life people have emotions, we will have warfare, we will starve, but at least we have freedom, it made me think about their world a lot of time.

I enjoyed/Did not enjoy The Giver. (Explain) I really enjoyed surprising and new part of the story every time, but the story can make uncomfortable, this is my first time reading Dystopian fiction, most of the story is kind of violent and sad, especially releasing children’s.

How have I improved my ability to write academic paragraphs? Every time when I write a new paragraph I can learn or add new ways to the next paragraph.

How am I better now interacting with other / other with lit Discussion? When we share the idea, we have new ideas and new view of the story, the discussion help me think about the book in some other way.

Volleyball Reflection

What did I learn?

Even though I already know about volleyball, I learned about the underhand surf, and how to work with my group, I improved on my under surf, we tried to have a mini competition against the boys, even though we don’t have a lot of fun playing against them, I still enjoyed working with my teammates, and playing against different people is also a new skill.

Unit 2 Otzi Unit Portfolio Reflection

  1. What did I work on?
  1. During this unit, ‘Why should we care about the past?’, I worked on
  1. Making observations, inferences and wonderings
  1. Using photos and articles as evidence
  1. Writing a CER paragraph
  1. Asking and answering open and closed questions
  1. Taking part in the Otzi Mock Trial, my role was being the Expert Witness
  1. What did I learn? Why should we care about the past?
  1. We should care about the past because

Ogrin of human + their culture

We learn how pre-histories people lived

We learn the differences and the similarities between the present and the path (maybe even the future)

Learning about the path is very resourceful and very innovative

  1. What worked well?
  1. I am proud of the following work my C.E.R, my close + open questions and the evidence I took
  1. I am proud of the above work because my C.E.R clearly and fully answers the question; it is also logical. My close + open questions make sense, and I can understand it well. The evidence I took is the truth and is logical.
  1. What did not work well?
  1. I found some of this work challenging, understanding some articles, and learning about the Expert Witness “Job,” finding evidence
  1. I found the work above challenging because some articles sentences are hard to understand the meaning, and I don’t really understand the Expert Witness “Job” at first, finding evidence is hard because the topic I had the articles don’t really have much evidence.
  1. Personal Relevance
  1. Collaboration and communications skills are important in my future because it might help me solve some problems.
  1. This is a photo of my work about….

Soccer Peflection

What did I learn? I learn how to dribble the ball and how to open up for my teammates when we’r having a little game.

What helped practicing soccer with my teammate Nichole really helped me understand more clearly about the rules.

What is something you are proud of I am proud of my self learning soccer and learn about the rules how to open up and this class made soccer really fun.

What is something you can work on I think can work on trying to kick the ball instead of being scared.

EGG CAR

What did I do? We made an egg car, design by our self with 3 paper, 1 meter of tape, and four wheels, we cannot use more than the materials we’r assigned.

What did I learn? I learnt about how Newton’s 1st and 3rd laws work on the egg car we made, when the car act when it hits the concrete bricks the egg react, the egg moved forward with the car, which is Action and Reaction.

What worked? The design of our egg car worked pretty well, because we added a long crumble zone to help the the car keep distance, and we kept the egg inside the car.

What did not worked? The design of our car still isn’t working that well, because the wheel kept felling out, even though we kept trying to find the right wheel to fit, but the wheel is really hard to keep it on the car, so the car is fragile.

Personal Relevance Now I know wearing seatbelt and having air bags are important when your on a car or a truck or any things that are going to make you reacts, now I learnt how to keep a passenger safe.

FOR YOUR PROJECT :

1- What was the task ? What you needed to do to be successful ?

The task is to choose a country that speak french and make a ppt about it, I have to make the ppt simple and easy for my classmates to understand.

2- What did you choose to research and why did you pick this country?

I chose Canada because Canada speaks french and the things , the foods, animals, places their is unique and intreasting.

3- Explain briefly what you mentioned in your project.

I mentioned what languages Canada’s people speaks, and what kind of animals are there, the foods and some famous places and status.

4- What is the feedback the teacher gave you?

The teacher said: You submitted your project on time and demonstrated exceptional engagement. Your enthusiasm for the subject really shone through! Great job on presenting the information clearly.Your writing was clear, concise, and showcased your research. You worte Maroc instead of Canada on the second page 🙂 .

5- What are you proud of? What are the areas of improvements?

I am proud that I research the informations I’m suppose to, and I wrote my informations clearly. I need to improve on making sure I wrote the right things, and check it.

6- Attach your project

Balloon Car

What did I do? The balloon car was built using plastic plate, a straw to help the balloon blows up, some wheels, and a balloon, we use the the balloon car to investigate Newton’s laws, and how it works.

What did I learn? I learnt about the how Newton’s laws work with the balloon car, for example when we don’t add any forces or move it it stays still, when we added weights and put some forces we can see how it working.

What worked? I think it worked when the data me and my partner took, it worked really well, when we measured it, it is accurate, and when we calculated, my collaboration with my partner is working, we discussed how we should design the car.

What didn’t work? It was struggling when the car design didn’t really worked, it moved but when we added forces the direction is not straight, the balloon car just started to spin around, and the forces we gave the ballon car is not really enough, because my partner and I had a really hard time trying to fill up the balloon.

Personal Relevance I can see the balloon car is related to the real life because the balloon car has NEwton’s law, our life is surrounded by Newton’s laws, just like the roller coaster, when we throw or bounce a ball.

Art Portfolio

I really like the fox I made, it made of cardboard, I cut out the shape and used a joint that can connect card board, it can also move, then I painted, I am proud of my self making the fox.

I also enjoyed making clay, I learnt a lot of ways to make clay with, for example : Coil, Score, Blend, Coil, Slab, Knead, wedge, carve, hollow join, all kind of ways.

Cardboard Clay

Creative Writing Reflection

What are we doing? Writing a fictional story based on a theme that matters to me.

What are we learning?Theme (my purpose for writing this story, my message to readers)

Character Development (creating believable characters with positive & negative traits)

Plot (the sequence of events in my story; Western and Eastern approaches to storytelling)

Setting (the world that I create for my story)

What’s working? I really enjoyed thinking of plots and how my story works, when I’m planning I can think of ways to express the lesson of my story while thinking how the story go, I really enjoyed planning, I’m proud of my self thinking of ways to solve my problems when I’m stuck.

Areas for Growth I need to improve on my grammar.

Personal Relevance Writing story’s can help people understanding things I want to express, and helping people learn the lesson, and sometimes it can help them to be a better people to help the environment.

Swimming Portfolio P.E

I learn about how to snorkeling and how to jump in to the water with the snorkel, it also my first time jumping the the deck.

My swimming coach encouraged me to jump the deck when I’m scared, I really like this unit because it really fun and I learnt how to snorkel safely.

I still have to work on my energy
