In this unit, we created a documentary based on the topic sinking of the ship wilhelm gustloff. Firstly, we made a decision on the topic we wanted to do about and then we conducted a lot of research. We finished a graphic organizer to record our data. After that, we went on the Internet to find a pictures of the topic we chose and we did our planning on a storyboard where we planned which part of the documentary is gonna contain what information. Then came the process of actually creating the documentary where we had all of our information together that made the final product.
Something I did well while creating this documentary was working with my partner and successfully find pictures, even though it was hard to find pictures for our topic and also I feel like I improved my editing skills.
Something I could work on is maybe improve like my skills on editing and transitions so our documentary could go smoother and maybe oh so I could work on finding pictures more efficiently was like more related keywords that could better help me find reliable sources of pictures.
In this unit, we explored knowledge around the essential question “why did pleasant pond turn green?” we focused on ecology and how the fauna and flora of an ecosystem interact with each other.
Something I did well in this unit was I improved my collaboration skills since there were a lot of task that is partner work. Me and my partner sometimes had disagreements but still worked it out and finished our projects. I also think I have a deeper understanding of modeling now, I can clearly remember the requirements of modeling and how to model.
Something I find challenging was explaining the relationship between two objects that I know why they relate to each other but it is hard to explain.
Something I could improve on in this unit is the communication with my teammate/partner because we usually split up work and often miss important parts of the standard.
My goal for next year would be try to work harder and communicate more with my partner.
For the topic I explored about abuse of power was hate speech on x. It was a really intriguing topic.
I learnt how people could be mean to each other simply because of nationality of beliefs.
THE PRESENTATION:
To prepare for my pecha kucha, i practiced a lot before i had to present.
Something challenging about this project was that i had to present early due to microcampus and i also had to start my project late due to a miscommunication
one thing I could improve on for my presentation skills is maybe looking at the audience more and project.

It was challenging to read salt to the sea because I originally wasn’t interested in history but that book was really good and made me enjoy it a lot.
We could use probability to solve real world problems and use matematical thinking to solve problems instead of just guessing
One area of improvement I need is to carefully read word problems and correctly understand them.
I want my future to know that I like working with people that I am familiar.
One advice I would give is to try to finish all of your homework at school so you don’t have too much homework to finish at home. Also listen carefully in class so you can understand everything.
In this unit we learnt about basic basketball skills such as dribbling, passing and shooting. We played several games of basket ball and worked on team work and collaboration.
I improved on my hand eye coordination while improving on my basic skills and communication. I effectively worked with my teammates.
Something I could improve on is maybe move to different positions more so I could create more opportunities for my teammates to shoot and pass. Maybe also try to dribble in games more and maybe participate more.
In this unit I understood the important basic concepts in geometry and also algebra. For example how we can use what we learnt in this unit in math class to design a package and use other stuff in real life. This helped me to better understand how I should use the formulas in designs and economics.
I also understood where i can see what we learnt outside of school. Additionally, the wat of learning in this unit ( self directed notes) really helped me understand what myself is as a learner and areas for improvement.
N: What new information did you learn in this unit?
Some new information I learnt in this unit includes the volume and surface area for unfamiliar and irregular shapes. I tried to utilize it in my design to create a better visual appearance and also to further show how I really understood the information.
I: What was interesting in this unit?
In the project of the package redesign , I tried minimizing material consumption based on the fixed volume of the original package . I used mathematical models to calculate the best design (bucket-bases are circles). By comparing the surface area formulas of different 3d shapes (such as cones, square pyramid, and rectangular prisms) suitable for popcorn bucket making, I used mathematical inequalities to calculate quantitative data. under the condition of equal volume, by adjusting the geometric parameters of the bucket, the minimum surface area of the 3d structure can be solved through inequality equations and calculations.
T: What was tricky for you in this unit?
There was some concepts that were new to me and while I tried to create a project that could exceed expectations, it got me stuck for a long time but i managed to figure it out, one example is how i can design the shape of the bucket and the possible minimum surface area.
Essential Question: How can we use prior knowledge to connect ideas and solve unfamiliar problems?
We can explore different ways to calculate it based on what we already know and try different ways to solve problems and check it when im finished. For example when im calculating the volume of my bucket i checked the PPTs on schoology about surface area and couldn’t find the equation for my shape but found the formula of another shape. So with my extra research I was able to figure out the smallest surface area from my shapes.
In this unit, we learnt about online health claims and how to differentiate true and false information using the CRAAP test.
Before, I thought… I knew there were false information but sometimes when I see those health claims online I still follow them Now I think I should actually fact check the information before I follow it blindly.
I learnt in this unit that health media literacy acts an important role in our life, it is really important because it could easily distract our perspective and affect our health status.
As previously learnt in class, there are multiple factors that affect apple variation and genetice variation. Genetic factors affect the growth of apple by giving different trait from the parent to the offspring, this results in each apple having a different trait. Some apple contains dominant traits and some contains recessive traits. Environmental factors like space and tempurature also affect apple variation, they provide a better/ lower chance of successful reproduction. Reproduction forms of apples varys from asexual to sexual. Sexual reproduction provides different offsprings from each other. Asexual reproduction provide clones.
I feel like Hands-on activities (Apple Tasting, Apple DNA extraction) and Modeling activities (DNA pipe cleaner model, New Apple Variety Model) really effectively helped me learn. The Hands-on activities help me as a learner by actually having a reference to what we are learinng and how these knowledge could be used in daily life. Modeling activities help me as a learner by showing all parts of something that we’ve been learning about ourselves.These activities are also a great experience and helps me memorize important knowledge.
I would also really try to improve on my CER writing skills (checking that evidence does not include reasoning, or that each point of evidence is linked back to the claim in your reasoning, and remembering to end with a conclusion). For my previous CER for the Fraken fruit projectm, I wasn’t able to provide enough quantitative evidence, but later added in. I could try to improve on not interpreting my reasoning in my evidence for further improvement.
