Social Studies Unit 2: Essay

We started working on the first paragraph, a CER of the positive impacts of or technology, I switched around from our graphic organizer to the essay, because all my research was there, on the second day, we worked on the second paragraphs about the negative impacts, we worked on writing a paragraph on the possible solutions to the negative impacts. Then on the fourth day, we worked on the introductions and conclusions.

One thing I did really well was I stayed focused on my work the whole time and I put in a lot of effort. But one thing I could improve on is to check and read it through once more after I finish, because I must have accidentally deleted the conclusion.

Social Studies Unit 2 Visual Creation

One thing I think I did well was that I included a lot of detail in such a small model and I tried my best to make it look like the real Titanic.

One thing I could have improved on is using time more effectively, this is because I talked a lot with my friends and could have used more time to make my model.

Math Unit 3 Reflection

U: I understand now what markup is and how we calculate what percent an item gets marked up when they resell it.

N: What was new to me was the word commissions, now I get that it means a extra payment to someones salary. For example, a person gets a commission for every apartment they sell.

I: I think what was interesting was the project that we did, because I got to look at costs of things that I like.

T: I think the trickiest in this unit is finding the information on the official websites of NIKE, Adidas, and Puma.

Unit 2 Science Reflection

Part 1

I chose option B which was “How do our body systems work together when we play our favorite sport?”. I learned that the sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR) and the myofibrils help move the muscles in our body, the muscular and skeletal system helps move our body, and the circulatory and respiratory system help us breathe. The fact that the SR and myofibrils, which are organelles in a skeletal muscle cell, can move the muscle. Then that muscle, part of the muscular system, can move us. I also learned that we need the respiratory and circulatory system to swim. When we swim, our heart pumps oxygen-less blood into the lungs which then gains oxygen, our hearts the pump it all around the body so our cells have air and can survive so they can help us move and be able to survive.

Part 2

I think the analogies really got me to think about what each organelle does and how they work together as a team to get the cell working. What also helped was that we were finding a thing in the city that does a similar job to a certain organelle and that helped me understand better of what each cell part does. I also thought the dissections helped, not only because they were really fun, but that they also illustrated that our body is a system that is supported by multiple subsystems that go from cell to our whole body.

Part 3

I think I can try to stop using first person in my CERs. In the first CER about the body systems, I included a lot of first person pronouns like “we”, “us”, “our”, and “I”. I did the same in the CER for our Blind Box Project. I think I can be more mindful about not using first person in the CER that I write in the future.

Semester 1 DT Reflection

The Clock

This is my process journal for The Clock project. In this project, we made a clock for a teacher in the MS.

Something that was good is that my design was really detailed and a lot of people said it is a cool design that they would recommend to others.

Something that I can improve on is to focus and do my work quicker. I didn’t have enough time to finish my clock and I also need to be more organized because I lost my clock twice.

This can help me in real life applications because I can learn better time management and how to design something if I ever do something like that.

RC Cars

In this project, we were supposed to make modifications for a RC car.

I think I did well in designing the bumper and halo for my car.

What I could have improved on is again time management. I made the car halo in the last class which I could have made earlier.

I can use this in real like applications when I am designing something to print at home because I have a 3D printer.

PE Soccer Reflection

I learned how to dribble better in this unit. What helped was the fact that we had so many games. We all had our own chance to dribble and shoot. I am proud of being able to score some goals in the games we played. I can work on different techniques to try to evade the defenders.

Math Unit 2 Scales Reflection

U: In this unit, I understood what scale is and how to find out the scale.

N: I learned what scale factor is and how we figure that out.

I: I think drawing scale copies of a shape is more interesting for me because I enjoy looking at something visually.

T: I think finding the area of a scale copy is more tricky because we have to do the scale factor squared not just multiplying the original by the scale factor.

Math Unit 1 Reflection

U: I understand how proportional relationships work now.

N: I learned how to graph a proportional relationship.

I: I think the graphing was interesting because I like drawing on graphs.

T: I think the trickier proportional relationships are more difficult for me to calculate.

PE Swimming Unit Reflection

In this unit, we learned about swimming, how to save someone from shallow water blackouts, floating, skulling, a few different water entries., and artistic swimming, which is the main focus of this unit.

I think I did well in the swimming portion of the unit because I am in swim team and I swim pretty well. But I think I can improve on some of the techniques in artistic swimming, for example doing a oyster.
