2️⃣Unit 2 COL/ Goal Setting

I did well in questions about functions and scatter plots and residual plots. I also showed workout to gain full credit. I think I should check more on those calculation mistakes for example reversed the (x,y) and calculating the slopes like matching. I have improved a lot from the beginning till now I know what to do or where I did wrong

I believe I could improve my description about the scatter graph including the DOTS, which I always forget to mention the outliers and the clusters. On the L4 I should explain more not just general, briefly. Mostly I really need to improve my Critical Thinking part where I always get a 2😭. It could be because that I explained it not enough or maybe I didn’t use evidence to suggest my thinking but I hope I can get a 3 next time to really master this part.

📈Designing a Story Problem (Piecewise Function Project)

1️⃣1. Describe your story and what real-life situation it modeled?

It is about Jay Chou is a logo designer and Stephan wants to buy logos from him since he is going to open a shoe store that needs a logo

2️⃣2. What part of your project are you most proud of? Why?

I am most proud of the graph I made using scatter graphs which helps people to catch the information quickly and knows what its about.

3️⃣3. What was the hardest part of creating your piecewise function?

The calculation was quite hard for us to start the graph, so we asked AI to give us some ideas and examples of how to like choose what are the keys of it.

4️⃣4. If you could revise one part of this project, what would you improve and how?

I would like to give more description about the graph and also make the piecewise function more clearly planed.

5️⃣5. What did this project help you understand better about piecewise functions?

It helps me a lot because real life examples give a much clear idea and letting us to make the example lets me to understand it more.

Mixed Media Self Portrait💙

👂🏻Audience Sights:

I want audience to know things about me and who I am in the inner self. For example, I love blue as the portrait is mainly blue. This is showing that I am very quite and introverted. I also collaged a lot of elements of piano and dance; as you can see there are music notes around the mini “piano” and I have sticked a person from APAC dance’25 showing my goal and passion towards dance. I used some words and numbers like the Chinese character “静待花开” and the number 27 and the letter E. These are all showing me like I live in Shanghai, favorite number is 27 and my name starts with E. To make my butterfly at the edge, which looked not that visible compared to the others, I added a sewing to emphasise it and to and so texture. By using a different shade of color makes the layers, which I want to show more to the audience and the silver is representing the spotlight, which really came out aesthetic. I added other elements that have blue from newspaper, that are really helpful making my artwork more interesting with other colors than blue. By looking at my artwork, I want them to understand people could be same in a different way blue could be the same but in a different shade! KEEP THE UNIQUENESS OF YOURSELF.

Risk and Experimentations:

During my creation of artwork, I took risks and experimented to effectively express my message. I used spray paint and also tried using different shade of color to create light and shadow. These were all new to me and bold color palette with monochromatic tones to create an emotional impact and focus on the subject, for example blue showing sad and introverted. By incorporating different objects on the collage, I added textures that enriched the visual story. I also tried different compositions to find unique arrangements that engage the viewer. Exploring various themes pushed me to challenge conventional ideas, sparking conversation. Throughout the process, I tried different planning ideas resulting in a piece that suggests more deeply about my inner-self.

PE Reflection-swimming (water polo)🤽‍♀️and invasion games(soccer)⚽️

Swimming: What I learned in swimming is that i learned how to play water polo and I am now familiar with the rules. Scoring the ball is a hard technique using your hand muscles and the way that we need to stay at pool without drowning is also very tiring.

Something I could improve is that I need to learn how to score the ball by passing it to my teammates and how to catch the ball with strategy. I also think that I need to train my speed when I swim because I swim really slow.

Soccer: What I learned in soccer is that I am now still learning on how to kick the ball with aim and not just kicking it into no where. I have also learned that the rules in soccer and how to kick the ball to your teammates not letting the opposite get the ball and learning to have a strong defence; kicking the ball away.

Something I could improve is that I need to learn how to score the ball with plans and aiming skills needs to be developed. I also need to learn more on being the goalie not helping the other team win.

🎨Art mini unit: Kool Koor

1️⃣Cultural Influence on Aesthetic Choices:

Kool Koor’s background in the graffiti culture of the Bronx profoundly influenced his aesthetic artwork choices, his uses vibrant colors and expressive lettering. His work often incorporates social and political commentary. His DNA has not changed throughout his artwork for example, the “seaweed” DNA has been in all of his drawings through time. His growing environment has a very big impact on him on how he uses the DNA to let us know that this is his artwork. This rebellious spirit inherent in graffiti empower him to create art that resonates with a broad audience, challenging traditional conventions and celebrating individuality. Ultimately, Kool Koor’s techniques and styles are a vivid expression of his cultural roots and artistic journey.

2️⃣Environmental Impact on Art Creation

Kool Koor’s shift from street art to studio work illustrates how different environments profoundly influence an artist’s creative process and choices. In the streets, encouraging bold expressions that engage with the community. The controlled environment of a studio allows for more refined experimentation with techniques and themes, leading to deliberate choices. While trying out Kool Koor’s painting style, I experienced these influences firsthand; the studio setting prompted deeper reflection on my techniques, while I also sought to capture the spontaneous energy of street art.

3️⃣Personal Reflection on Aesthetic Development:

I had really liked the type of painting Kool Koor has been drawing and it was very new to me. This experience had helped me know what my DNA was and it was kind of hard to let the two colors combine in and make it look good. This artwork is from Hannah and I, and we have used some squalls and musical notes we also added some simple shapes. For my self portrait project I think I could use what I learned from this experience like the DNA idea on the background. My country’s culture has impacted me in many different ways, for example the experiences I went through also really changed my self portrait by anding uniqueness and the DNA I added in is a very nice example of showing it.

1️⃣Semester 1 Active Learner Reflection

🥇My current goal: is to enhance my understanding of the Claim, Evidence, Reasoning (CER) framework, as I recognize its importance in developing strong arguments and effectively communicating ideas. To achieve this, I plan to dedicate time over the next month to study various resources, including articles and online courses, that explain the intricacies of the CER model. I will practice applying this framework by writing several paragraphs on different topics, ensuring I clearly articulate each component. By the end of this period, I aim to confidently use the CER framework in my writing, thereby improving
my overall communication skills.

📝My current progress: I have a very clear knowledge of writing a CER and identifying which is which, for example evidence must be found in given not information in your mind. As I look through the CERs I have been doing last few weeks I have shown that I have improved from the start.

🩵Questions from Forms:

What are you most proud of in this class so far?
(Think about times when you showed persistence, improvement, collaboration, or deep understanding.)

🙋‍♀️I really liked the fossil project and it was fun to learn how different layers of fossil means the time and I liked how we look carefully at rocks that had patterens.

What has been your biggest challenge in this class?
(For example: managing time, staying focused, contributing in group work, or understanding a concept.)

🙋‍♀️I think the biggest challenge was to contributing in group work and maybe have a better knowledge in the CER.

How have you demonstrated the qualities of an Active Learner — preparing effectively, participating fully, collaborating well, staying positive, and reflecting to improve? Are there any areas where you want to grow or improve next quarter?

🙋‍♀️I thinking I need to collaborate more in group works.

On a scale of 1–5, how would you rate your overall effort and engagement in this class?

🙋‍♀️4️⃣

📝End of Unit 1 Reflection and Goal Setting

I chose question L4 2a as evidence of my best thinking because I have clearly give reasons why the order of the sequence doesn’t really matter and I have drew a image to show that they are the same thing when the sequence is changed.

I chose question 3 as evidence of my best thinking because I have given a very clear and precise information to show that the two polygons are similar and I use mathematical precision to describe the sequence of transformation and I got it correct.

Throughout this unit, I improved the most at Dilation for example finding the center point and not making mistakes on finding the scale factor.

I feel that I still need to work on Similar shapes like show that I can identify that these two shapes are similar by using transformations and showing that these two triangles are similar by SSS SAS ASA.

List three of your strengths so far this year.

  • Reflection
  • Translation
  • Rotations

List three things you want to improve on in the next unit.

  • Dilation
  • Similar shapes
  • Finding the center point

In the next unit, I want to do more excercises that will help me to practice what we are learning and be more precise on the answer you wrote. Most of all check your answers! To achieve this goal I need to do more questions and ask if I am not sure.

comment: I said that I liked the choice board and the vibe in ms Fisher’s class.

❤️Unit 1: First Contact

This is one part of the paragraph my alien has wrote. This is about why Naru came to Earth and how it thought about us. Naru said that he came to Earth was because he wanted to devlop his own world and found out that we had an own language and he really liked learning about the knowledge of grammar and how our sentences work.

Something that I learned was I reviewed more on grammar and I actually did like teaching the alien how to speak and teaching the alien about how the sentence structure works. It also gave me a chance to learn more, now the alien seems to be smarter that me!

At the start, my first alien was real bad, it told me to explain every word using that formula and it was like a bug it didn’t even know what “sentence” was and everything didn’t work out. So I changed a alien and refreshed the page NARU came to save my life. It was so smart and he learn everything so quick

The Impacts of the Exhibitions🎨

🏙️In what ways can an exhibition influence the ideas, beliefs, and experiences of an audience?

I really liked the way how the curator decided how the paintings should be organised and the lights, background choices. For example the museum really liked to make a dark and contrast background and a very glowing light that emphasises the paintings that we shouldn’t miss out and paintings that are real famous and would make you starting to get inspired. The curator also made the art works look that they are in order and in a group like you won’t see a painting that is really modern by its own. This is a very big way that would influence the ideas, beliefs, and experiences of an audience.

Another really impactful way that can influence the ideas, beliefs, and experiences of an audience is the distance of how you look at the painting. When you look at a big painting from a far distance you will feel how gorgeous and beautiful the art work is, letting you feel shocked by its beauty. However when you look closely you will see the details of the choice of color and the choice of art stroke the artist used. For instance the painting Ullyse Butin. He drew a painting of himself drawing in a grassland or a park, which he emphasised the color on his palate, it was really glowing and you would see the color in a far distance. When you walked closer you will see the details of his portrait like his impressions towards his artwork and when he is drawing.

PE Table Tennis Reflection

This unit has been an engaging and rewarding journey into table tennis, where I’ve dived into mastering key skills like serving, forehand, and backhand strokes, while also getting to grips with the specific rules of doubles play, such as the requirement to switch positions with my partner after hitting the ball, which adds a dynamic layer to coordinating moves on the table. Through consistent practice and group drills, I’ve not only sharpened my technical abilities but also had plenty of fun competing in friendly matches with classmates, which made the learning process feel lively and motivating. I’m particularly proud of my progress in a few areas: my forehand and backhand strokes have become more steady and accurate, allowing me to return shots with better control, and I’ve gotten better at seizing opportunities to gain points during rallies—whether by placing the ball strategically.

As a new student to SAS I was initially a bit nervous, playing doubles and team games gave me a chance to interact with classmates I didn’t know well before, and we bonded over cheering each other on, celebrating small wins. It was a great way to make new friends while improving my game.

I’ve set clear goals for myself. First, I want to focus more intently on tracking the ball during play to avoid letting it bounce twice on my side of the table. Second, my serving needs more work; right now, my serves are often too predictable, making it easy for opponents to return them. I plan to practice varying the speed, spin, and placement of my serves to keep opponents on their toes. With more drills and match experience, I hope to turn these goals into strengths and become a more well-rounded table tennis player.
