Personal Relevance this was relevant to me because it taught me to draw less and pay more attention.

Badminton Unit

What did I learn? During this unit I learned how to properly serve forehand and backhand and learned to play by the accurate rules.

What did I improve on? I improved on my forehand serve.

What I could work on I could work on my forehand ingame and not only use it while serving.

Unit 4 Dystopian Fiction Reflection

What did I learn about dystopian fiction? I learned that dystopian fiction books make you think and they make you realize whether the books world is better or your world is better. It makes you compare.

How does Dystopian fiction invite me to think about real life? Dystopian fiction makes me think about real world problems and the dystopian fiction solutions and it makes me wonder if the dystopian world might have better thinking.

I really enjoyed The Giver. I really enjoyed the giver because I think the author lois lowry is good at building up tension and keeping secrets to surprise you later on in the book. There was one part I couldn’t stand and that was the baby squealing from the vaccination.

Have I improved my ability to write an academic paragraph? I believe that I have Improved my academic paragraph writing. I have gotten less responses saying I need to work on my conclusions and for my final I got none at all.

How am I better at interacting with others during literature discussions? I think during our literature discussions I learned a lot from my partners. I think I got better at building off from others ideas, I got better at validating others and also coming up with new ideas. Overall I think I did well.

Unit 2 Otzi Unit Portfolio Reflection

  1. What did I work on?
  1. During this unit, ‘Why should we care about the past?’, I worked on
  1. Making observations, inferences and wonderings
  1. Using photos and articles as evidence
  1. Writing a CER paragraph
  1. Asking and answering open and closed questions
  1. Taking part in the Otzi Mock Trial, my role was a prosecution lawyer 4.
  1. What did I learn? Why should we care about the past?
  1. We should care about the past because we can learn about how Neolithic men and women lived, how they got recourses and how they wound tend wounds. We learned they were like us in some ways, they had the same illnesses and diseases, and they also sometimes resolve conflict in childish ways like us.
  1. What worked well?
  1. I am proud of the following work: Cross examination, brainstorming open and closed questions, and convincing the court that Otzi was murdered.
  1. I am proud of the work above because I worked on this for quite a while and we prepared well for this and researched hard.
  1. What did not work well?
  1. I found some of this work challenging, like speaking out loud during cross examinations, brainstorming open and closed questions, and convincing that Otzi was murdered.
  1. I found the work above challenging because things like convincing the court during cross examination and convincing the court that Otzi was murdered in front of a crowd was difficult.
  1. Personal Relevance
  1. Collaboration and communications skills are important in my future because later in life communicating and working in a group will come easier and preparing for that is smart.

Math Bake Sale Reflection

What did I do? During this bake sale I baked brownies with my partners while I learned how to calculate ingredients and profits. On day 1 we brainstormed to see what we would be baking and we used a conversion sheet to calculate the ingredients of the desired choice. We also used are knowledge of equivalent ratios and rates to help. On day 1 we also had homework to make a cover sheet to show what we were baking. On day 2 we provided unit rates with proper unit labels to show our proper vocabulary answers. We also more calculations for each ingredient with proper vocabulary. On day 3 we provided a clear mathematical explanation for the cost of one batch of the recipes with servings provided. we also determined the percentage and markup prices. On day 4 we wrote a pitch that articulates our determined sale prices. we also had a photo collage documenting the baking goods process of creation.

What did I learn? I learned how to calculate ingredients and profits and how to change Imperial to metric currency and learned how to neatly show calculated amounts properly and neatly.

What worked? During the bake sal we had to work around many problems like how the brownies were really small so we found it hard to sell at the original price of 15¥ so we bargained most of the time and got prices for like 12¥ 10¥ or 8¥ so in the end we got our desired amount of money around how much we predicted we would get so I thought my team adapted well on this one.

What didn’t work? Everything worked out well actually and we sold out. We had to change the original sale price but we adapted and change that out but that was small, other than that we did perfect. 🤩

Personal relevance this helped me collaborate with others and taught me how to convert currency and properly label my products with appropriate measurements and calculations.

Swimming reflection

during the unit, I learned how to make signs with your hands to talk to your swim partner when you go snorkeling.

Everything worked out well just like I planned so this went really well. I was also good at checking on my partner when going snorkeling, I was also was good at taking the big step and guarding my head. I liked learning this.

I could have paid more attention and sometimes so I would understand better and not constantly ask for help.

Overall I think I did pretty good and got into a nice level. Next time though I will listen more carefully.

Balloon car reflection

What did I do? I built a balloon car from styrofoam straw and a taped on balloon

What did I learn? I learned about Newton’s 1st law: Inertia. Inertia is being seen when the Egg car is moving forwards the car is accelerating and moving fast. Newton’s 3rd law is seen when the car hits the wall with and equal and opposite reaction.

What Worked? My car hit the wall like I intended and everything worked well and didn’t fail.

What Didn’t Work? Everything went according to plan just like I hoped. I could of definitely put more effort thought to cause my car from breaking in half at the end.

Personal relevance

From this I learned about forces and newton’s 1st 2nd and 3rd laws and how an object moves by and outside or non contact force.
