PE Badminton Reflection

What did I do?

We did 1 vs 1, and 2 vs 2, and we also learned grip, and different legal servings.

What did I improve on?

I improved on everything.

What worked

The backhand serve worked, forehand worked but not as often, the over hand worked also not as often.

Personal relevance

I think this will help me because I want to be a professional football player and practicing badminton help me with my reactions and my footwork.

Unit 4 Dystopian Fiction Reflection

What did I learn about dystopian fiction?

I learned about the giver and the seven elements of it like totalitarianism, illusion of utopia, and much more. We also read the giver and I learned that the community is very odd and doesn’t have some things that could make the life greater but they don’t have things that make life worse and the citizens have no idea about knowing those things because they don’t exist.

How does dystopian fiction encourage me to think about real life?

It encourages me to think about the bad sides of our government and question if our community is odd and might be a illusion of utopia. It also encourages us to think of our community in bad ways and how we can fix them and make them better.

I enjoyed the giver because it was fun and it had a lot of mysteries that were hard to solve and it had a lot of creepy stuff that gave you goosebumps, it was also very fun to read because there weren’t really any boring moments after Jonas became 12 because then there were exciting moments each chapter.

How was my ability to write academic paragraphs improved?

It improved a lot and I also learned that the topic sentence had to match with the question so it will answer the question well and I also learned what transition words I should use for supporting evidence.

How have I became better at literature discussions?

I became a little better because I was already getting 4s on the first literature discussion but I became better because I learned to say, “Nice idea!” or something that encourages the person who just spoke to feel engaged and feel like like they belong, it also encourages them to keep talking and to talk more and everyone works better then together!

Unit 2 Otzi Unit Portfolio Reflection

  1. What did I work on?
    1. During this unit, ‘Why should we care about the past?’, I worked on
      1. Making observations, inferences and wonderings
      1. Using photos and articles as evidence
      1. Writing a CER paragraph
      1. Asking and answering open and closed questions
      1. Taking part in the Otzi Mock Trial, my role was Lawyer 1 prosecution.
  • What did I learn? Why should we care about the past?
    • We should care about the past because then we know about how the people in the past lived and how we can learn from them or their mistakes. We also can learn about living beings and things in the past that can help us or so we can avoid it.
  • What worked well?
    • I am proud of the following work which is my CER because I worked well and I had a strong reasoning and a good claim, also my preparation because I planned what they are going to say and found questions to counter that answer, and when I was the lawyer 1 prosecution in the mock trial because I made the witnesses say that he could have been murdered and that someone would want to murder him, I also gave a good question that made one of their claims go onto my side.
    • I am proud of the work above because I had worked hard on it and I have thought about it a lot and I was planning how to win against them. I also made them doubt themselves in the end which is what I’m supposed to do.
  • What did not work well?
    • I found some of this work challenging, because it was hard to find theories and what they could do because it was confusing to keep it in my head, it was also hard to use them because I didn’t know if they would doubt themselves so I didn’t risk it, and it was hard to find my courage to remember to prove he was murdered because I had so many questions I forgot to ask them that he was murdered.
    • I found the work above challenging because it was hard to figure out how to deal with it. I also didn’t find out how to deal with some of them.
  • Personal Relevance
    • Collaboration and communications skills are important in my future because I can use them in my future job, like if I go pro in football, I can tell my teammates where to go and make us a good team that works together well.
  • This is a photo of my work about my preparation for the mock trial.

PE Swimming Reflection

What did I learn?

I learned how to use a snorkel, the giant stride entry, and the hand signals for when you are snorkeling.

What did I do well?

I did well at doing the normal swimming and dong the giant stride entry and how you swim with snorkels.

What do I need to improve on?

I need to improve on swimming better.

What helped?

Everything new that I learned because I can use that so I can swim better and use new things during swimming.

Egg Car Reflection

What did I do?

We built a egg car with some certain materials and constraints and then we put a real egg and tested if it would crack.

What did I learn?

We learned about the newtons 1st and 3rd laws and how to use them when building a egg car. I learned that the first law can be seen in an egg car because when the car is going down the ramp and hits the brick the egg still is going and hits the car that is going backward. And the 3rd law can be seen because the egg car is going down fast and hits the brick and then the reaction force of the brick is equal but opposite so the car goes backward.

What worked?

The cushioning went very well because the egg couldn’t get the impact because there was cushioning all around it. Also the shape of the car was good because it could only get out of the car from the top and you need to use a little force only to the top to get it out.

What did not work?

I think we wouldn’t change anything because the egg survived and it went very fast and still survived, we maybe could have changed the wheels because they kept falling off. I also think Eugenes car maybe could have made the long folded thing taped so that it wouldn’t bend and make the egg absorb the force and it went up so the egg had no protection except a paper wall.

Personal relevance

Now I know that there is a safety cell that crumbles to absorb the impact. Before I thought that the car crumbled because the impact was too strong, but it was actually made to do that. I also learned that the front of the car shouldn’t crumble because then it would pass the force on to the safety cell which would’ve been too much, and if it does not crumble, it will stop the impact mostly.

Balloon Car Reflection

What did I do?

We used a balloon car that had cardboard as the base, a balloon with a straw attached to it and take, and wheels. We blow the balloon up with air and then we let go and it goes forward. We use it to investigate Newtons laws like newtons 3rd law, 2nd law, but not the 1st.

What did I learn?

We learned about Newtons 1st law, inertia which is that a object at rest will stay at rest unless acted upon a unbalanced force and a object at motion will stay at motion unless acted upon a unbalanced force. Newtons 2nd law, F=ma which means the force is mass multiplied by the acceleration. And Newtons 3rd law, every action has a opposite but equal reaction.

What worked?

I think I worked pretty well with my partner because we both understanded the process and we had the same idea. Our car design also worked well because it was probably the fastest but it didn’t always go straight but it was fast. My data collection was also very accurate.

What did not work?

I struggled with putting the weights on the car and keeping them on. I also struggled with blowing the balloon up a lot but not too much so it would pop. I struggled the most with making the straw straight so it wouldn’t change the direction of the force of the air.

Personal relevance

I feel like it relates to the real world because inertia is basically things that are not moving and not being moved, also that something in motion will stay at motion unless acted upon a unbalanced force, which in the real world is air. The second law is connected because it’s like a car, if the car is bigger and it crashes, it will be less destroyed than a small car going as fast because F=ma, force is the mass multiplied by acceleration. 3rd law also as a car is basically where the wheels are moving which makes it move the opposite direction.

Puberty Unit Reflection

Why you need to know about puberty

It is important because then you know how to be more healthy and you know that it is normal so you don’t stress out and book a doctors appointment.

What I feel confident about

I feel most confident about my height increasing, getting stronger, wider shoulders, and that I look cooler from what I think because I think I will.

What I am concerned about

But I also feel concerned about if I will look fat, ugly, and not get stronger because then I can’t play football.

How to check if websites are real

But of course I can also things online and check if that is real by checking the URL and seeing if it looks sketchy, I can also check if it has real facts and doesn’t lie and say fake facts.

Some aspects I want to improve on

I want to improve on is that I want to try to use tips and diets and practices like the books say to get stronger and skinnier.

Creative Writing Reflection

What are we doing?

Writing a fictional story based on a theme that matters to me.

What are we learning?

Theme (my purpose for writing this story, my message to readers)

Character Development (creating believable characters with positive & negative traits)

Plot (the sequence of events in my story; Western and Eastern approaches to storytelling)

Setting (the world that I create for my story)

What’s working?

I enjoyed writing the Football parts and the times when it was intense moments or dialogue, I also enjoyed when I came up the name Lavir for the spy of the rival team because Lavir backwards is rival, I am also proud of that I can write possible football matches and I am proud of it because then I can use knowledge to predict the opponents moves in real life because I can write possible moves and strategies. I got my idea because of my favorite sport, football. My favorite line is, “MAN, THAT REF IS SO BIASED!” says coach Micheal, while eating potato chips and coke while watching Real Madrid strategies.” Because it is just so goofy and silly.

Areas for Growth

The most challenging part was coming up with names, because I look around the room, and I realize almost all names that I come up with are taken, and I don’t want them to think I’m writing about them so I use silly names like Bobby, or Bob. My least favorite part is probably the parts where I miss spelled something or when I wrote something wrong or when my grammar is wrong because I can’t fix it know, so I just have to wait and hope for the best.

Personal Relevance

I don’t really think it will help me that much but I can use it to predict my opponents moves and strategies and even come up some for my own team because I want to become a football professional. I like creative writing because I have so many ideas and so many things I like to write about, I can just come up with almost any possible silly story, scary, or about football, like I am imagining a story with plants that are being controlled by aliens and one of them is filled with humans and humans have now more evolved species as their pets. I could see me writing some creative writing stories just for fun.

This is how Lavir looks like when calling his Coach.

Science: Critical Thinking

I played with the Gravitrax and tried to improve my collaboration with my team and learned more about critical thinking, I also played with Indi robot to learn even more about critical thinking and I also used it to solve challenges. I learned that critical think is when you try to solve a problem from a source, what you know, and how you solve it, we also don’t use it always, we use it when the problems are and and we really need to think about them. The Indi robot worked almost always and the Gravitrax worked also most of the time. But the Indi robot cards didn’t always work because sometimes they were like some centimeters off, so then the Indi robot couldn’t detect them to do the action. Today’s learning will help me in understanding what critical thinking means when other people talk about it, it also will help to relate to the person saying it and self evaluate me better.

Unit 1 Olympic Portfolio Reflection

  1. What did I work on?
  1. During this unit, Campaign for the Olympics, I worked on creating a ‘pitch and persuade script’ to convince the IOC to choose my host country, Sweden to host the 2034 winter Olympics. I worked on my presentation skills, and I printed the script to help me read it. I created a presentation using Canva and pixabay images. I used the SAS databases to complete my research about Sweden. I used the class persuasive starters to make my speech very persuasive.
  1. What did I learn? Why do global sporting events exist?
  1. Global sporting events exist to bring people together and help people celebrate different cultures through sport, they increase the economy, they showcase the host country’s culture and are a positive influence in the world.
  1. What worked well?
  1. I am proud of these things, I got all meeting and in the final presentation I got 2 exceeding and 1 meeting. I also did a good job working with my partner.
  1. I am proud of the things above because getting good grades feels good and is good, you also get very proud. And I am proud working with my partner because I helped him, and he got most things meeting.
  1. What did not work well?
  1. I found some things challenging, they were that I didn’t use that much eye contact. I also couldn’t memorize it that much which resulted in not that much eye contact.
  1. I found the things above challenging because it took a long time to cut the script which didn’t give me time to practice. And then that made me use less eye contact because I had to read it.
  1. Personal Relevance
  1. Collaboration and communications skills are important in my future because I need more confidence becuase I don’t have that much. I also could use that practice because I stutter and practicing speaking to people makes me stutter less.
