Dystopian Fiction – The Giver

What did I do?

I learned about dystopian fiction by writing academic paragraphs and discussing topics related to the book – The Giver.

What did I learn?

I have studied words in the Giver book. I have already wrote some academic paragraphs and used transition words for assessments. I also made some discussions with my friends about some events in The Giver book.

What Worked?

I’m very proud of myself because in this unit, we’ve learn lots of vocabulary words and I can use it to make some short stories and use it correctly. I’m also proud of learning all those words so I can make sentences with them.

What did not Worked?

Sometimes when I am writing the short story by using the vocab words. I will forget the vocab words meaning because there is to much words to remember. Also in my assessments I don’t have many transition words.

Personal relevance:

I can improve my skill of analysing and my text understanding. When I grow up, I’m will be more faster in writing an academic paragraph and be more skilful at using those transition words.

Health Reflection

What safety behaviours do you think are important for you?

I think that being safe behaviours online is important because if don’t then your information maybe will be send out just because of your bad behaviours.

Who are your Five trusted people you can go to if you feel something isn’t right either online or in person?

Mom, Dad, Brother, Ms. Dani, Teachers from SAS

How does Social Media and technology impact teens the most in your opinion?

On social media can use unrealistic photos to trick others to think they are not beautiful. So this impact teens that teens think they are not perfect.

What strategies can you use to help protect yourself in everyday life on online?

I could make a timer to stop me being online.

What would be the the biggest takeaway you have?

I had learn that social media is harmful.

Volleyball Unit reflection

What did we do?

In this unit, I was playing volley ball

What did i learn

I learned how to serve and set the ball

What worked

100% /67% my serving was perfect.

What did not worked

Sometimes the serving is not perfect

Personal relivent

I will look forward to grade 7 volleyball.

Unit II – Ötzi Unit Reflection

What did I work on?

I had worked on my CER Otzi paragraph to see whether Otzi is murdered or not. I had chosen that Otzi was murdered because of the arrowhead. I also worked on the observation of Otzi to find evidence that Otzi had been murdered. I had worked at the closed question because I am a cross-exam person.

What did I learn?

I learned that we need to care about the past because the past has things that have research value. The past has mystery things that we need to find out. Also, we could find some mummies that how did they die and which century they are in.

What worked well?

I am proud of my Otzi trial because I had spoken the question loudly. Also, In my closing statement I think that I really showed them that Otzi had been murdered. I think that my question is good and that it is hard to answer even though they had answer, but I think they actually did not answer the question correctly.

What did not work?

I think if I had much more time, I would restate my own question because I had asked the question from the AI. And I think that when I am speaking, I could put the mic beside my chin so that my sound will be much louder. At last I will find more evidence to that Otzi is not been murdered.

Personal Relevance:

I think this will help my future because if I had a Trial again in my future, I could do better than I had done now this will help me a lot. It will help my collaboration and communication because trial is collaborating with other peoples. And after this mock trial I think I will do better on my future mock trial.

Math Bake Sale Project Reflection

What did we do?

In this project, we had made Oreo cupcakes and we did a lot of calculations behind it.

What did we learn?

We learned using unit rates, percentage, and we also tried cooking, It worked. We use unit rates to calculate how much does each cost. We use percentage to calculate decimals and stuff.

What Worked?

When we are making the Oreo cupcake the cake part is really soft. Me and my teammate had eaten four of it before we are selling. It had taste really good. We had sell all of our cupcake.

What did not Worked?

We had make the cupcake on Sunday when we had sell it on Tuesday the Oreo is so soft so I think we should make it on Monday so the Oreo will not be soft so it be much better.

Personal Relevance:

I think this will achieve my goal because later on I could cook much much better and more taster. Also maybe my I will be a cook in my future.

Soccer Reflection

What did I do:

In this unit we had learn Passing, dribbling, Shooting, and collaborating with other people and teammates

What Helped?

Something that helped was that I had really supportive teammates and had really great people that helped me become a better soccer player

What is something you are proud of?

Something that I am proud of is that i always said good game when I finished a soccer math and keep up my good sportsmanship

What is something you can work on?

Something that I can work on is passing and being nice to my friends, not really getting mad at them too much

Egg Car Reflection

IMG_0268.mov

What did I do:

We are making a car that can protect the egg, the criteria of the egg car is the long is only be 16.5 cm and length can only be 6.5 cm. The material that we can only use is 3 A4 paper, 1m tape, straw, 2 axles, and four wheels. We only can use like about 1 hour.

What did I learn:

We had learned the Newton’s 1st and 3rd law in the egg car challenge. We had seen Newton’s 3rd law in the egg car because the car hit the wall the wall had push the car back. Also we had seem Newton’s 1st law in the egg car challenge when the egg fly out it changed from balanced force to unbalanced force.

What worked:

For me I think that something that had worked is the egg did not break. I think that the egg did not break because we had mad a crumple zone so the egg will be protect.

What did not work:

At the start when we are making the body we had made to thick. But later on we had fold it to get less thicker and it had worked really well. For our final design I think if we have time I think that I will get the base more thinker because we had 1 A4 paper left.

Personal Reflection:

Now I know that the parts of vehicles are very important. Because if we don’t have the seat belt the egg will fly away. And also If we don’t have a crumple zone the egg will just hit the wall and the egg will crack.

DT Reflection

What did we do for Unit 1:

In this unit, we did graphic design and 3D modelling.

In graphic design we had to chose to do coaster design, fridge magnet, keychain design, earrings design on Inkscape and make keychains for the SAS fair to sell it. When we finish our design on Inkscape we will give the design to the cutting machine to cut out the design.

For my project I had chose keychain for my client. I had to ask my client that what does he/she like and find some example for my client to choose. My client had chose nature for the design because he/she likes to travel in nature, so I had to find some picture about nature and get it on my design.

What did we do for Unit 2:

In 3D modelling we are trying yo make chess pieces by choosing the theme of it for example animal, sushi, video games, etc. In our group we had chose animal for the theme. And then we are designing the design on Tinkercad and then we gave the design into the 3D printer to make our design.

For my project I had to do a chess piece my group had chose animal for the theme. I had chose lion for my chess piece. My chess piece does not look well because I think that I had upload the wrong chess piece design.

Balloon Car Reflection

What did I do:

The ballon car was built using ballon, wheels, straws, some pieces of tape, and a styrofoam tot hold these things. We use it to learn about Newton’s 1st, 2nd, and 3rd law of motion.

What did I learn:

Newton’s 1st Law says an object at rest tends to stay at rest and an object in motion tends to stay in motion unless acted upon by an unbalanced force. We see this law in action with the ballon car when the air is not out it tends to stay at rest until the air gets out then it is a unbalanced force.

Newton’s 2nd Law says the greater the mass of an object, the more force it will take to accelerate the object. We see this law in action with the ballon car when we had add washer to the ballon car by using the same amount of force it is going slowly when we had washer on the ballon car.

Newton’s 3rd Law says that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. We see this law in action with the ballon car when the air goes out of the ballon car on the left then the ballon car will go to the right.

What worked:

It worked well because my partner and I had made it successfully because the ballon car had moved easily. We had to decide how should we build the ballon car, so the ballon car can move fast.

What did not work:

It was a struggle when we decide to use tape or hot-glue, we had chose hot-glue. Later we notice that hot-glue is hot so it is kind of destroying the styrofoam. To solve this problem we had to be super carful of the ballon car if don’t the straw and ballon will fall down.

Personal Relevance:

I see Newton’s 2nd Law in real life when I am pushing something that has a lot of mass I need more force to push it. It is important to me because when I am in middle or high school even university I need to used Newton’s Laws.
