Smart Goals Reflection

I did make progress towards my goal: Finishing all Chinese homework on time. By checking schoology I can see that I have 0 over dues for Chinese and I had completed all of them around 2-3 days before the due date.

A major challenge I had to face was not being able to remember if there is a Chinese homework due soon. This challenge sometimes occurs and it really stops the progress from completing this goal.

I basically have the same perspective except for how time management might come even more important.

I feel like the goal is still reasonable for me right now so I don’t need to revise on it.

I got support from my chinese teacher since I had some assignments almost dued and to follow my goal, I completed them through break and the Chinese teacher gave me the time to makeup.

My next step would be even more precise on the goal and makeing sure to complete all my Chinese assignments few days before the due date.

 Math Unit 3: Proportionality and Percentages

From unit 2, I understand how rational numbers ca be converted into other forms and how proportionality can also be turned into percentages. Also how proportionality can apply to more than just simply ratios. Not just these this unit also taught me the ways we can visualize proportionality and percentage and solve.

Some new information I learnt from this unit are how percentage questions can be solved using double number lines. We have to line up the percentage with its paired value to find out the answer. This method doesn’t just go one way ( solving for the 100%’s matching value) it can also go reversed and solve for the percentage of a certain value.

Something interesting was being able to work with different methods and being able to connect them at the end. For example, we were assigned to use ways such as double number line and tape diagrams. This gives us a much better visual and understanding of percentages and proportionality.

Something tricky in this unit for me is sometimes needing to jump between different forms of rational numbers for example needing to change decimal to percentages to fractions… Also for one CFU I wasn’t able to calculate the right percentages and didn’t show all my work.

Me As a Collaborator Unit 2 ELA

I would rate myself a meeting for effective collaborator.

First of all when it comes to table groups discussion, I’m sometimes the first speaker but majority of the times I might be the second or third to hop in the conversation. Also I usually listened to others and I do give my own opinions if I have one to say. This is most likely to be a meeting grade.

Second, when the tables decide on putting away notebooks, we usually follow the rule of who comes the last needing to put it away. But majority everyone just put away their own notebooks.

Third, when I’m asked to turn and talk ,sometimes if I’m with someone thats doesn’t feel familiar I might need a little bit of time but I usually would speak.

Fourth, raising hands might be a hard part in class since I usually don’t raise my hand as much and that is something I would want and like to improve on.

For creating to story Henry and I were able to collaborate well and find out the outline and create a succsesful story. We both contributed to the group which is a meeting standard.

Lastly for product branding things went smooth and great. The only thing was Heyi and I forgot to submit before the deadline so we didn’t get the grade even though everything was finished.

U2 Summative Reflection

My summative was worse than my formative since I wasn’t able to show clear reasoning and I struggled to understand the claim and my claim didn’t fully answer the question being asked.

I’m proud of how I was still able to find evidence that support the claim. Even though I was out for few days due to a flu I still caught up with the class.

Some challenges was not being able to understand the question that well so then my claim was off. Also my reasoning was not clear enough to prove how the evidence is connected with the claim. Not being able to attend school few days was part of it but also I didn’t practice enough of creating claims and reasoning.

After getting feedback of needing to work on conventions I used flint to improve. my skills and got a bit of improvement. But then considering other grades are low I would maybe try to get more feedback from teachers and peers.

If I get another chance, I would like to practice more using websites provided. Also, I would like to read the question more than once so then I don’t get confused and write a wrong claim.

An advice would be just get more feedback and double check. This would be a goal too for my future.

Unit 2 Visual Presentation Reflection

The task was making a visual presentation that represents your topic and create scenes that included facts on this topic mostly on the negatives and positives side on this topic. For example, I chose to do Minecraft since its an easy way to visualize things and its a fun way to show learning.

One thing I did well is creating multiple scenes that show how my topic (cars) made positive and negative impacts to the society.

Something to work on might be considering my time better since Minecraft took a long time which stopped me from adding more details to my design. Next time I would love to pick another way to show visualization if I had less time.

Unit 2 Transportation Essay Reflection

At first I had to research to find 3 articles that I analyzed after, then with the new information I filled out an organizer that includes everything needed for the essay. After that I was given another organizer and connected all the information gotten using sentence starters in the format of a CER. Lastly everything is put in an essay format.

One thing I did well was being able to finish this on time with everything included. Also I did well on researching and analyzing information from 3 articles.

Something I can still work on is definitely being more efficient on finding key information instead of finding details and ones that are not that important compared.

Unit 2 RC Kart

In this unit we were assigned to use 3D modeling to remake a piece on a pre built RC kart. Even though I was absent for few classes I still managed to finish the 3D modeling online but didn’t print it out. Something I’m proud of would be being able to apply most of the skills I learnt in my final project. Something to improve on would be next time print the thing out and get all the measurements correct.

Unit 1 Clock Project

In unit 1 we were assigned a certain teacher to be our client and we have to make a clock for them according to their requirements. Also, we had to finish multiple design ideas on paper after researching for some ideas. After that we set goals for ourselves, we would be able to know what to aim for. Im proud of how the teacher/client gave me all positive feedback and he enjoyed it on his wall. Something to work on might be adding more layers of acrylics to my clock.

Unit 2 Reflection : Proportionality and scales

In this unit we learned about scales and how the scale factor gets the original shape to the scaled copy. Also, we learned about how to calculate the scale factor after finding if the shape is scaled or not.

New information I recieved from this unit is how the area scale factor is the scale factor squared. We found this out during practice questions in class and before I didn’t realize how there was a difference between the area scale factor and the scale factor.

Something interesting in this unit was learning about proportion relationships between the scaled copy and the original. I was able to discover how the scaled copies has to be proportional. Also, finding proportional relationships with real life scenarios was also fun. We were able to find real life situations like towers on papers and parks on maps.

Something tricky for me was being able to explain the difference from area scale factor and scale factor and how it works. Even though I did struggle but the I still end up being able ot understand about the relationship.

ELA Unit Formative #2 (CERER – Dystopian Characteristics)

What are you proud of?

Im proud of being able to find a good topic to write about and make a precise claim that allows me to find evidence that can support this claim.

What was a challenge for me?

Something clearly that Im still struggling with is conventions. I was not able to perform a meeting standard convention grade because I wasn’t able to remember all the conventions from the last few classes. Also, organizing my reasonings was a little challenging, even though the ideas were ok, the organization was messy.

If I would redo the assessment, what changes would I make?

I would definitely focus more on the conventions. For example, I need to work on quotation marks and commas around it. Also to organize my text into a better format so its clear to understand.

What will you do between now and the summative to ensure a meeting?

I would work on the chatbot for conventions more and even at home I should make it a daily task during homework time to improve the grade and push it to a meeting expectation.
