What safety behaviour do you think are most important for you.

I think that wearing your seatbelt when you sit on a car is important because if you get into a car crash it could really save you.

Who are your 5 trusted people you can go to if you feel something isn’t right either on line or in person?

Mom, Dad, Ms Greene, Ms Dani, Mr Irwin

How does Social Media and Technology impact teens the most in your opinion?

Social Media impacts teens in the way that could affect sleep and grades.

What strategies do I think are most effective to protect myself online and offline.

  1. Don’t talk to strangers
  2. Wear your helmet
  3. Get permission from your parents to do anything
  4. Keep you info to yourself
  5. Don’t download strange stuff

What would be my biggest takeaway?

My biggest takeaway would be that blue light could affect my sleep, so I often read a book before I sleep now.

Roller Coaster L4 Lab and Model

Yian Yang L4 rollercoaster.mp4

We made rollercoaster with our group and trying to make the fastest and coolest rollercoaster. Our investigation is high, medium and low. At the highest point the success rate is 100% and at low is 0%. And the potential energy is more when the height is high so there will be more Kinetic energy so the marble will have more energy to finish the track.

Ping Pong Reflection

I learned that I it is better if we can serve backspin and topspin to make the ball go faster or slower. I improve my pose when hitting the ball. I like Ping Pong when I am young. I tried my best ]z

Unit II Ötzi Unit Reflection

What did I work on?

We worked on observation, Inference and wondering. We worked on Writing CER paragraphs. C is claim, E is evidence and R reasoning. We worked on answering open and closed questions. We also worked at KWL. K is know, W is wonder and L is learned.

What did I learn?

I learned about Ötzi the Iceman that was the best-preserved mummy for 5300 years. I learned about Ötzi’s several items he carried in the tour video and his health problem. Also, I learned more information about Ötzi in the debate we did between Ötzi who was murdered and not murdered.

What worked well?

I asked some great questions to the expert witness during the Ötzi debate and using complicated words such as debilitating. That would make the expert witness harder to answer the question if they don’t know the word or if the word is more complicated. Also, our team won by questioning some hard questions to answer and trying to make the expert answer the question properly which will help us get more evidence and the jury will vote for us when we have better proof and evidence.

What did not work?

I could somewhat improve my questions that I asked the expert witness because I used the Magic School ai. I didn’t get a lot of questions on the topic the expert is working on, and that would help our defense team more if I had better questions. I could brainstorm to get better question not only using the chatbot and ignoring the chatbot when it gives bed questions that are not related to the topic and thinking more to have better evidence to prove that Ötzi was not murdered.

Personal Relevance

I knew how to communicate using sign language and quietly when we were doing some discussions about the Ötzi mock trial. We helped each other in the defense team in which we shared things we wrote and gave feedback to each other to improve our work. Also, we made our opening and closing statement with our parters and did a presentation when our partner gave us feedback about our questions and closing statement after using the chatbot.

Bake sale

what did I do?

We learned about the marketing and the profit, income, unit price about each item and see how much each item cost.

what did we learn?

we learn how to calculate the unit price and the profit and the income of the lemon tart we made.

what worked?

A lot of things worked like we got more than 200RMB income and we sold out really fast.

what did not work?

Someone just wanted to buy drinks and if we are doing this next time we are going to prepare some drinks and we an get more money if we had drinks.

Egg car

IMG_0287.mov

What did I do?

I made crumple zone to make the egg car safe. Also, I made seatbelt to let the egg survive. Also, I discuss a lot with my partner to know her idea of making the egg car and how we should do better to make our egg car safe.

What did I learn?

I learned newton’s 3 laws. Newton’s 1 law is used in seatbelt when the car stops the seatbelt can help you stop. The newton’s 3 law is used in the crumple zone.

What worked?

Our egg car survived the second round when we decided to take the rubber of the wheel to make less friction to the car and go more smoothly.

What did not work?

The first round the car flipped and fail the first time, but ms cutter gave us another chance to try and she suggested to take the rubber of the wheel.

Personal relevance

This would help me when my mom is driving car and now I know why we are flying out car when the car stop because we learned newton’s laws.

ELA Unit 3

Creative Writing Reflection

What are we doing?

Writing a fictional story based on a theme that matters to me.

What are we learning?

Theme (my purpose for writing this story, my message to readers)

Character Development (creating believable characters with positive & negative traits)

Plot (the sequence of events in my story; Western and Eastern approaches to storytelling)

Setting (the world that I create for my story)

What’s Working:

What story elements did you enjoy planning and writing? (Explain why you enjoyed them)

What elements of my story are you proud of? (Explain why)

How did you get the idea for your story?

The Best Line from My Story: (Include your favorite sentence or phrase from your story and then explain why you like it)

Areas for Growth:

What story elements were challenging to plan and write? (Explain why you enjoyed them)

How did you deal with these challenges?

What is your least favorite part of the story?  Why does it bother you?

Personal Relevance:

How can creative writing help you in real life (even if you’re not planning on becoming an author)?

Do you enjoy creative writing – would you possibly like to continue using your imagination to tell stories that matter to you?

Balloon car

What did I do?

The balloon car is built using balloon, straw, wheel, styrofaom base. We used it to learn Newton’s laws.

What did I learn?

Newton’s 1st law says Inertia. We law in action with the balloon car when the balloon car at rest stays at rest and balloon car in motion stays in motion unless a unbalanced force acting on the balloon car. Newton’s 2nd law says acceleration. We see this law in action with the balloon car when you put weight on the car and the more mass you have the more force to let it move. Newton’s 3rd law says action and reaction. We see this law in action with the balloon car when the air release from the balloon and the car moves.

What worked?

Our stratergy worked well because we got in to quater finals in the balloon car competition. We had to make less friction to the balloon car.

What did not work?

It was a struggle when our balloon popped when we trying to put air. To solve this problem we took all the tapes of and needed to put all the wheels and balloon again and it took a lot of time.

Personal relevance

The balloon car was like the rollercoaster in real world, when it goes fast and finish. I see newton’s 3rd law in real life when the the air inside the balloon release. It is important to know these laws because it help me to know to to let car move and my future I might use this in university or degree.

Science critical thinking

What did I do?

I made the Indi car go and complete challenges that are complicated. Also, I made roller coster out of Gravitrax.

What did I learn?

I learn that we need to collaborate together with our teammate and find ways to solve a problem.

What worked?

We tried a lot of times with the Gravitrax when we don’t know the better and cooler way to let the marble keep going and end at the end.

What did not work?

Sometime the marble or track get destroy if the marble roll two fast or the track is not steady. Also the Indi car will go not really straight so they didn’t know the color and we failed.

Personal Relevance

I knew that collaboration is very important because our group in Gravitrax is very hurry and sometimes mess up, also in the the Indi car activity I felt it was really fun so I needed more focus on the challenge we are doing.
