Unit 4 Dystopian Fiction Reflection

What did I learn about Dystopian Fiction?

I learned that dystopian fiction is a world where people don’t know anything painful or dangerous, it’s like a magical world, some thing’s in the world aren’t real in the real world and everything is fine and sorted out well.

How does Dystopian Fiction encourage me to think about real life?

It encourages me by comparing the events happening in the story, and in the real world.

I enjoyed The Giver really much because it’s kind of mysterious in the begining and made me wonder allot about what’s happening and what is about to happen. I was always exited to begin the next chapter.

How has my ability to write academic paragraph improved?

I improved by giving a topic sentence, for example like, Jonas gets allot of harsh memories, then I can give examples and evidences.

How have I become better at literature discussion?

I become better because we have a clear idea of what we are discussing about, and all of us prepared well so we can get more information from each other. I was incouraged to speek in the descussion so I became more brave and not afraid of sharing thoughts, preparing well can help allot.

Orchestra Reflection 1

Nothing was challenging about forming a group. We didn’t choose the music yet .

Orchestra Reflection 2

We collaborated and finished practising it. The tempo was dificult. Use more metronom.

Orchestra Reflection 3

We collaborated well but we need to practice more. To stay together. To stay together and stay at the tempo. Kind of.

Orchestra Reflection 4

I think the peformence went okay but we can do better on ending together, because some of us didn’t know where we’re at and stopped early.

Social Studies Reflection (Otzi)

Unit 2 Otzi Unit Portfolio Reflection

  1. What did I work on?
  1. During this unit, ‘Why should we care about the past?’, I worked on learning about Otzi the iceman.
  1. Making observations, inferences and wonderings
  1. Using photos and articles as evidence
  1. Writing a CER paragraph
  1. Asking and answering open and closed questions
  1. Taking part in the Otzi Mock Trial, my role was court reporters
  1. What did I learn? Why should we care about the past?
  1. We should care about the past because it can teach us about how they lived in the past and what tools they used for living. Learning about the past can also help us learn about the present and how we got here.
  1. What worked well?
  1. I am proud of the following work researching, making the news paper and the mock trail.
  1. I am proud of the work above because the research took allot of time and hard work, and the newspaper can show what we learned.
  1. What did not work well?
  1. I found some of this work challenging, Otzi case files,Museum Tour Viewing Guide and researching .
  1. I found the work above challenging because it took a lot of effort and hard work.
  1. Personal Relevance
  1. Collaboration and communications skills are important in my future because I worked with my friend Nicole, we are both court reporters, so we helped each other, which made us do our work quicker and better.

Egg Car Reflection

What did I do?

Me and my partner built a egg car toghther with 3 pieces of paper, 4 wheels and limits of lenght and with.

What did I learn?

I learned that the egg car can move when a force is acting on another force. The egg car comes down when we put it on top of the slope, but when we put it on the ground, then it won’t move. I also learned the Newton’s third laws, which there is a equal and opposite reaction, it happens when the egg car comes down.

What worked?

We worked well with all of the car. Especially the protection, because we made a soft “pillow” for the egg so then when it bumps into the stop, then the egg won’t crack.

What did not work?

The wheels made me and my partner struggle. When we start building the wheels, we found out that the wheel and the tooth-pick din’t fit well toghther, so we used some ways to solve that problem.

Personal Relevance

The cover on the top of the car really helped. Also the pillows that I made is also a really big help. We put it in front of the egg so it protected the egg.

Ballon Car Reflection

What did I do?

Me and my partner desgined a ballon car, the ballon car was made out of straws, wheels, and a piece of foamy card board. We made the edge round to see if there is any diffrence .We investigated the newtons laws, when we start testing, we put metal pieces which makes more weight so the ballon car didn’t go that far.

What did I learn?

Through out the ballon car experiment, I learned more about the Newton’s three laws. For the Newton’s first law, when we start releasing our balloon the air comes out and pushes the car forward, it will stop if it bumps into a object. For the Newton’s second law, we added more mass to our balloon car but how much force we use to push it is the same, so the one with more mass goes least distance. For the Newton’s third law, when the ballon is released, then the balloon car goes forward.

What worked?

My collaboration with my partner goes well. We helped each other build the pieces of the balloon car, so the balloon car turned out well. Most of the time, our balloon car goes really far.

What didn’t work?

We struggled a little in the begining because it was hard for us to tape the wheels on to the board so we switched a kind of tape. Also our car was always going to turn when it starts moving forward.

Personal Relevance

I think the ballon car activity helped me with my relationship with my elbow partner. And it proves the Newton’s three laws. Which gives me more examples.

Creative Writing Reflection

What are we doing?

Writing a fictional story based on a theme that matters to me.

What are we learning?

Theme (my purpose for writing this story, my message to readers)

Character Development (creating believable characters with positive & negative traits)

Plot (the sequence of events in my story; Western and Eastern approaches to storytelling)

Setting (the world that I create for my story)

What’s working?

I enjoyed planning and writing when the story has a twist, the antagnist and the protagnist working toghether winning soccer games. I enjoyed that part of the story because it happened to me before. I am proud of when Amber found her advantage in soccer. I got the soccer idea from PE, we are learning how to play soccer. I like the sentence “Amber the fancy girl arrived, her hair was teid up into a pony tail, she wore a Ronaldo T-shirt with Ronaldo’s name signed on it, she wore a comfortable looking Adidas short and a pair of new Puma shoes. The smell of cherry blossoms stayed in the air as Amber pasted by. Other boys and girls came to Amber and start touching the “The one and only” Ronaldo shirt.” Because it can show well that Amber is really greedy and trying to make Muhamed and Ahmed jealous.

Areas for more growth

It was challenging for me to write when writing how fancy Amber was to show the reader that the diffrence between Muhamed. I used some brands name to show the diffrence. My least favorite part is when Amber starts bullying Muhamed, it bothers me because it’s hard to write the bully side (because I have never bullied anybody).

Personal Relevance

I think creative writing can help when you want to ramember a place or a thing then you can write about it if you don’t draw. Yes, because creative wrting can express allot of things.

Orchestra (winter concert)

I learn more songs, I like ThunderSnow the most.

I focus on my bow hold as my goal.

I improved on reading the notes, I can work with my stand partner (Andrea)and my hearing skills improved because as a whole group, we have to listen to each other and know where we are playing.

Art Protfolio

This is your writing prompt: Write about an artwork of your choice that you are proud of having made. When you write about it, share what the project is, how you made it, what materials you used, which methods you applied.Share with the reader why you are proud of this artwork and what you learned or discovered in the process of making this artwork.

I am proud of my clay project because I learned how to make a hollow in the inside and I learned how to make a perfect shape, I can also trace out the lines on the surface. I also made a back round for it, I made a beach and there is a river beside the beach.

Lastly upload a picture of the project. Then PUBLISH your post. Copy Link.

Grava Tracks

I fill the empty boxes with mini marble tracks, and continue the marble. I learned that Gravity pulls the marble down from a really high start, and force helps the marble push through all the squiggly tracks. It worked well until it comes until a track piece which doesn’t work well in each direction, so I used a short ladder to connect to the other pieces which fits well in the situation. Today’s learning will help me learn more about force and gravity.

Social Studie Reflection

Unit 1 Olympic Portfolio Reflection

  1. What did I work on?
  1. During this unit, Campaign for the Olympics, I worked on creating a pitch and persuade script to convince the IOC to choose my host country, Japan, 2040 summer Olympics.  I worked on my presentation skills; I used the script to help me. I created a presentation by PPT and got pictures from library images. I used the SAS data bases to research about Japan. I used persuasive sentence starters, to make my speech more persuasive.
  1. What did I learn? Why do global sporting events exist?
  1. Global sporting events exist to bring people together, help people celebrate different cultures through sprots. They increase the economy; they showcase the host country’s culture and are a positive influence in the world.
  1. What worked well?
  1. I am proud of these things because we worked well together on the PPT and knew each other’s part and cooperated well and helped each other doing the pitch and persuading script.
  1. I am proud of the things above because cooperation is an important part of our work because we both are absent and have had to catch up.
  1. What did not work well?
  1. I found some things challenging, they were doing the speech and speaking in front of my classmates, speaking clearly and loudly.
  1. I found the things above challenging because I’m usually afraid of talking in front of people and speaking clearly and loudly.
  1. Personal Relevance
  1. Collaboration and communications skills are important in my future because Communication helps me to get more confident speaking in front of people.
