Badminton Reflection

What did I learn?

I learned how to do a legal underhand serve properly. I also learned how to receive the badminton ball.

What went well?

At first I was struggling to do a underhand serve, but more and more I practice, I improved much more!

What didn’t work?

Something that I’m still struggling with is to receive the ball well. Sometimes I could receive the ball, but mostly I miss the ball…

Personal Relevance

I think it was a fun time to play badminton with my friends. I did badminton in 1:1, 2:2, and other numbers of people! It was interesting to learn badminton.

Health Unit 1 Comic Reflection 😷

What safety behaviours do you think are most important for you?

I think being careful about being on social media is important. Because you don’t know people’s identities online, they can trick you to give your private information or money. They could also put bad comments on your post, making you feel bad.

Who are your five trusted people you can go to if you feel something isn’t right
either online or in person?

Mom, dad, myself, and I don’t have anyone else I feel too comfortable with.

How does Social Media and Technology impact teens the most in your opinion?

I think it impacts addiction and confidence. Because social media shows entertainment that interests you, you keep looking at it and get addicted. It also affects confidence because when you see people that have things that you want, you might think, “Oh, I’m so normal compared to her…”. This decreases your confidence. But in reality, people use filters or act the have a good life.

What strategies can you use to help protect yourself in everyday life – online and in real life – list 3-5 strategies.

1.Don’t give any personal information unless you are close to that person.

      2. Try not posting any pictures of yourself in public social media.

3.Try not chatting a lot with people you don’t know online.

What would be the biggest takeaway (learning) you have?

Be careful for everything you say online.

Roller Coaster L4 Lab and Model

In this unit, we started by completing an investigation to determine the relationship between potential energy and height. We did this by first filling in the lab report, and then making a model for a working rollercoaster. After that we started building the rollercoaster with our groupmates. Lastly when we were done, we tested if the marble succeeded in some of the heights: high, middle, and low.

      L4 Volleyball underhand serve

      What did I learn?

I learned how to do a volleyball underhand serve in this unit. I tried to hit it over the net. I did it by practicing with strategies. There were also some small matches I could practice my serve in. Me and my classmates practiced together.

      What helped?

The position helped me do the underhand serve more successfully. For example, straightening my arm helped.

What is something you are proud of?

This was my first time learning volleyball. I could successfully a ball safetly.

What is something you can work on?

I need to practice throwing the ball further. I also need to focus on my direction, too.

Unit II – Ötzi Unit Reflection

      What did I do?

During this unit, I worked on doing observations, inferences and wonderings, CER paragraph writing, and answering and asking open and closed ended questions for the debate if Otzi (a frozen mummy from 5000 years ago) was murdered or not. These are all some strategies we used when doing the Otzi mock trial. For example, open ended questions helped me give a answer that was detailed, while for closed ended questions, you can get a short answer like yes or no. At the end there is a Mock trial, and I was in the prosecution (proving Otzi was murdered) team.

      What did I learn?

I mainly learned about theories of proving Otzi was murdered. I used resources like articles and videos. Using this, we learned why we should care about the past. It increases our creativity and curiosity. We can also connect the past to now and be aware of events from patterns.

      What worked well?

I did an okay job at speaking a little more clearly. I did not use any filling words, and also spoke loudly (in my opinion.) The expert witnesses could understand most of the questions I asked.

      What did not worked well?

When we did the Otzi mock trial prep, I think I didn’t do that good on choosing right questions that showed Otzi was murdered by a prehistoric man. I tried to chose mostly open ended questions to prove it like the deep cut for arrowhead. But my questions weren’t strong enough to make people think Otzi was murdered.

      Personal Relevance

I think collaboration & communication skills I practiced this unit is very important in the future because there will be a lot of group projects. I would have to collaborate with my groupmates and put ideas on the table. I would also improve my communication skills to make the group not fight.

      Baking Sale Reflection ><

      What did we do?

We baked and calculated to make profits. We sold them to teachers, parents, and students. For me and Audrey we made strawberry matcha sago. Wed searched up the recipe for a batch and sold servings.

      What did we learn?

We learned how to calculate the unit price (ex. cups to grams). We also learned how to bake and make for the first time by ourselves!

      What worked?

We could sucessfully sell all of the drinks we made! In the first 10 minutes there was only 3 customers, but when more and more students were having breather, so many people wanted our drink! (though some high schoolers wanted it for 1 kuai-)

      What did not work?

At first me and my partner struggled on calculating the price and kept submitting late work. And in the day of selling day we both forgot to bring our posters, but we used our laptops and treated the customer well.

      Personal Relevance

I could do more baking in the future for fun! It could help my creative thinking and make me more intrested.

      Soccer reflection

      What did I learn?

In this unit, we learned how to dribble a soccer ball. We also learned how to pass to other teammates to work together and score a goal.

      What helped?

My teammates taught me some techniques about being goalie soccer, so I could successfully block few balls. I could also do that in the position defense.

What is something you are proud of?

I shooted a goal in this soccer unit. It is unbelievable.

What is something you can work on?

Next time I could be a little less scared about a soccer ball going in my direction. I should be less scared.

      Science Egg Car Reflection

      What did I do?

I made a car to protect a egg with my partner. We put in safety things like seatbelts and crumple zones. Lastly, we tested it.

      What did I learn?

We learned the Newton’s law could apply to this challenge. . For example, according to Newton’s 1st law the egg wants to fly out because of its inertia when the car hits the concrete block when testing. To keep it safe, we put a seat belt so it doesn’t fly away and has a better inertia. And according to Newton’s 3rd law, the car will hit the wall and the wall will hit the car with an equal, opposite reaction. To lower the force we made a crumple zone so it could protect the egg from cracking.

      What worked?

The egg didn’t fly away. It is because of the strong security of seat belt. The seatbelt helped the egg to stay still.

      What did not work?

The egg cracked though. Our crumple zone was not safe and big enough, which made the egg hit a big force.

      Personal Relevance

I learned that cars are really hard to make safe because the seat belt and crumple zones have to be safe enough. Cars need to make a safe vehicle that people can go on, not just a moving transportation. It has to be carefully designed.

      YAY

      Design Technology

      What did I do?

In design tech, we did 3 units: graphic design unit, 3D modeling unit. and Robotics. We used apps and websites like inkscape, tinkercad, and lego spike education.

      What did I learn?

I learned how to use apps and websites like inkscape, tinkercad, and lego spike education. I learned the techniques and skills for each one.

      What worked?

It was pretty ok of how to learn to make things in inkscape and tinkercad.

      What did not work?

Forl somehow me and my partner had some problems on legol education on controlling and making the robot at first. But we still tried and kept going.

      Personal Relevance

I think over these times I improved on my usage with tech. I learned how to creatively design and make. I can use these skills in subjects like art.

      Critical Thinking- Science

      What did I do?

I used my critical thinking skills to complete challenges and games like the Indi robot cards and build roller coasters with Gravitrax.

      What did I learn?

I learned about how I would be grade according to my Critical Thinking. I will use my Critical thinking skills to solve problems and make the right decisions accurately.

      What worked?

Me and my partner could successfully make a trail to make the things move.

      What did not work?

Sometimes the Indi robot car did not scan the color.

      Personal Relevance

I could use my critical thinking skills in other places like when solving problems.
