In Unit 2 Math, we were designing math story problems that best show our understanding on piecewise functions, linear equations and relationships. My partner Hannah and I made a story based on Hailey Campbell’s experience of going to a concert of her favorite K-pop group. The story problem circles around the amount of money Hailey Campbell spend during, before, and after the concert, and how she needs to make money in order to not be broke. While Hannah and I correctly identified all the intervals where Hailey Campbell’s bank balance increased, decreased or stayed constant, we still need to work on writing linear equations. However, our story of Hailey’s idol and concert was very vivid, talking about a young girl’s dreams and how she had achieved it. In addition, while we showed some inconsistencies in our calculations, we understood the concepts of piecewise functions, slopes, and linear equations, which allowed us to meet the standards.
I chose question number 1 for Critical Thinking as my best thinking because although I didn’t tighten my accuracy as I should have by stating that the correlation coefficient of 0.41 is weak, I did explain thoroughly that there is no evidence that suggest listening to music while study can improve test scores. In addition I wrote that different people concentrate better on different study ways, so a weak scatter plot shouldn’t be used as a conclusion.
I also chose question number 7 for Critical Thinking as my best thinking because I have shown the reasons why it is misleading to say that practicing more hours of piano each week can improve assessment scores. I wrote that there are other factors such as a child’s mentality and in addition, it didn’t specify which assessment, which could be a math assessment. I think that this shows my best thinking even if I got part of the question incorrect.
Throughout Unit 2, I improved the most at my critical thinking skills. During Unit 1, my math reasonings weren’t very strong and I sometimes struggled to answer certain questions. However, recently I have shown strong reasoning skills such as the answering to question number 1 of the Critical Thinking category. One skill I still need working on is tightening my accuracy for the correlation coefficient as I have mentioned earlier.
The biggest challenge in this assessment was to read carefully the questions and to slow down the pace. I didn’t see the critical thinking question on the first page, and I could have gotten a 0, if it weren’t for the later reminder of it.
My goal was to earn at least all meetings for math, and I have achieved this goal for now, except for 1 mid unit quiz. To maintain my goal, I will continue to work hard in math, complete all my homework, and ask questions. I have shown my critical thinking, active learner skills last unit, as I completed all the work I was supposed to and I improved my reasoning skills. I want to improve by getting exceedings and do more work than I am supposed to.

- I want my audience to understand that I have a very sunshiny personality and I am very friendly. The general warm color theme shows my personality that I am extroverted so does the sunflower. I also want my audience to understand that I have a lot of hobbies and my hobbies makes me who I am and makes me unique. I communicated this message by connecting the colors together. For example, the tennis neon color matches the light yellow of the sunflower. The sunflower seeds matches the color of the music notes and the black music notes connects with the color of the book.
2. I took risks by changing some of my elements due to the fact that it didn’t match the theme that I am trying to convey, and I added some elements. Of course, I added it on my planning. I added sunflower to further consolidate my extroverted, sunshiny, and friendly vibes. The planning also didn’t convey the image that I wanted it to be, so I changed my final product. However, my final product did come out quite nice and the final message was to show my sunshiny personality and how my hobbies makes how I am.

I read a short story in French class called La Guerre des Jumeaux. The story talked about two twins always fighting because they are so different. After reading the story, we had to summarize the whole story by doing an oral and practice the vocabulary using quizlet. I practiced my oral using the pictures and I wrote them down so I could practice.

This is the picture of my listening comprehension. I am proud of this because I improved in my French listening skills. The feed back that I got was that I improved and I got a good score on this test. I improved because originally I only got about 6/22 on my test, but now I got 19/25.
- The culture of the Bronx graffiti scene during the 1970s and 80s incorporates a mix of expression, rebellion, and community identity. This influenced him as he used graffiti to communicate his identity, emotions, and social messages. His paintings are full of explosions, freedom expressions, and violent use with paint. When he was young, he came across a girl who was writing her name on the wall, and that sparked him to do graffiti. He always work with only 1 color at a time, and he try to create balance and confrontation at the same time.
- In my opinion, street art gave him more freedom of the use of paint and was more impromptu and spontaneous. In addition, his paintings might be influenced by viewers’ reactions, and that will possibly change his decisions with the art. However, by working in a studio, the environment is more controlled, and that probably allows him to focus more on his technique.
- I believe that my own personal experience and personality will influence my artistic choices. For example, if I am drawing a self portrait, I would put bright colors such as yellow. This is because I love to laugh and talk and my friends would often describe me as outgoing and lively.

In Language Arts Unit 1, we learned grammar by teaching an alien English. We had to teach the alien the 8 parts of speech, sentence structures, and shades of meaning. We were required then required to summarize what the alien had produced and annotate it to show understanding of the unit. While I was able to show strong note-taking habits and provide clear explanation of both denotation and connotation, I failed to explain some aspects of parts of speech such as verbs. My understanding for section 2 was clear and I was able to identify and produce the different types of sentence structures. My analysis for connotation showed meeting level standards as I was able to explain how one word could change the whole meaning of one sentence.

Essential Question: In what ways can an exhibition influence the ideas, beliefs, and experiences of an audience?
The exhibition “Paths to Modernity” showcased the artwork from the oldest, which is probably the second image, to the newest artwork. This gives the audience the feeling of the evolution of art. Audiences can now see the difference of different ages of art and how they differ over time. For example, at the start of the exhibition, I only saw artworks from the 1800s. However as I move on, I start seeing artwork from the 1900s and I noticed that the style changed as time moves on. It really amused me and I am very surprised of how the art techniques changed over time. For the first and third image, it shows the layout of the exhibition. The layout provided space for the painting as they are scattered around the room for the audience to view and enjoy. The painting “The Bedroom” was the only painting on a wall because the curator wants to show its significance and importance. Another reason why it was the only painting on the wall is for the audience to crowd over it and enjoy the famous artwork.

I think I did well on my forehand and serving. This is because I managed to get the ball over the net and there is a lot of spin. I need to improve on my back hand because I sometimes I can’t get it over the net. I learned that Table Tennis isn’t just about speed, it is about the strategy. I really enjoyed this unit, and I will play more Table Tennis outside of school.

This is the cover that I finished. This cover shows my interests and what represents me. It is not very clear, but behind the smiley face, there are lines that help the viewer to focus on important things such as the snowman and the cupcake. I used bright colors for the tennis racket and the cupcake to stand out. I also included layering in my cover. For example, the word “winter” overlaps my snowman and my tennis racket overlaps the tennis ball. This added depth to my art work, created more space, and made it more visually appealing. There are also words that represent each painting to create connection.

This piece of artwork is from the Evolution of Viewing Art unit. Ivy, Kristin, and I was trying to recreate the artwork “The Spell” by Francisco Goya. During this unit, I learned that the different ways of viewing art has changed and it became more convenient. For example, if you want to view the artwork “Mona Lisa”, you don’t have to fly all the way to Paris. Instead you could view it using VR.
My growth throughout the semester is that I understand Art is more than painting and drawing. It incorporates math, such as creating patterns and tessellations. Some challenges was dealing with clay, as my hands always make the clay dry. I really dislike fixing the cracks, but I managed to still create a good quality clay artwork.

This was an analysis that we did about various artworks. These artworks are all trying to convey messages in different ways. For example, the choice of words and contrasts between colors.
