Orchestra Chamber Music Reflection

Reflection#4

How did you performance go today? Were you prepared?

I think it did not go well because my group had a recording of the five of us that was before we had feedback but I had a recording to do afterwards so my group had another recording so we just displayed the old one with all five people.

If you were not prepared, what would’ve helped you become prepared?

We had a backup video because one of our classmates were not coming today so we had to use the other video before the feedback because the newest one only had four people inside the video because I had a makeup assignment to do.

Do you feel the feedback from peers was helpful? Why or why not?

I think that it was helpful because we were more together and the intonation was better.

How did you grow and how do you know?

We had better dynamics afterward but without Iris, we couldn’t make another recording but we always learn with our mistakes.

What did we do?

We made a bake sale and we had to determine the cost of each serving (Unit price) and we had to also find out the price of each ingredient that was converted into grams. We also had to bake our project at home so my partner went to my house and baked our cookies.

What did we learn?

We learned the measurement’s and how to bake chocolate chip cookies. It was quite hard but we worked together. I learned how to change the measurements from cups to grams.

What worked well?

I worked well with my partner and we worked together to bake our project and worked together to make the measurements correct. We also worked together to sell the cookies we made.

What did not work?

We put a little bit too much chocolate chips inside our cookie so the cookies were a little bit too sweet. We put three bags of chocolate chips inside the cookies and it tasted great when it first came out but the chocolate hardened afterwards.

Personal Relavance

My partner and I didn’t know that such a small piece of dough could make so much cookies. At first, the dough had too much flour so we kneaded it for a very long time to make it fully mixed.

Unit 2-Ötzi Unit Reflection

What did I work on?

I worked on my CER paragraph to determine if Otzi was murdered or not. I also answered and wrote open and closed questions about my topic about Otzi. I also had to ask myself open and closed questions to help myself get prepared for my topic. I also had to write my inferences, observations, and wonders.

What did I Learn?

I learned that we should care about the past because we can learn about history. I think we should also discover how people in the past improved and made our society better and we should learn about our family traditions and how our ancestors lived. We can make our lives even better when we learn about our ancestors.

What worked well?

I worked well with my partner because we were collaborative. We helped each other with the things we didn’t understand. We also helped each other prepare for the Mock trial by testing each other.

Personal Relevance

I really like this unit because we get to work together to support our topic. This could improve my talking skills, and I really like researching about my topic. I really think we should continue to work like this in the future. Next time, I should talk louder, and I should also give more specific details and also talk into the microphone.

Egg Car Challenge

What did I do?

My partner and I made a egg car out of wheels, straw, paper and i meter of tape, what we had to do was not let the egg in the car crack.

What did I Learn?

I learned why we need seatbelts because of Newton’s three laws. We see Newton’s first law, Law of Inertia when the car wants to keep going but the concrete wall blocks the car and prevents it from going forward. We see newton’s second law because if the car is really heavy, it goes down faster and if it goes down faster, the egg is more likely to crack. We see Newton’s first law, when the car hit’s the concrete block, the egg wants to keep on going forward but the seatbelt blocks it.

What Worked?

When My partner and I made an airbag in the front of the car and a seatbelt so the egg won’t fly forward.

What did not work?

Our car was a bit too fast and the egg almost crashed and broke. The car was’t really moving so we took the rubber off the wheels to make it move faster. Our egg survived in the end.

Personal Relevance

To let the passengers be safe, we need a seatbelt, and an airbag.

Balloon Cart

What did I do?

The Balloon Cart was built using balloons, a styrofoam base, hot glue, straws, wheels, and axels. We used it to learn about Newtons three laws.

What did I learn?

I learned about Newton’t three laws. Newton’s 1st law says an object at rest stays in rest unless acted upon by an unbalanced force and an object in motion stays in motion unless acted upon by an unbalanced force. We see this law in action with the balloon car when the balloon’s air is released or not. Newton’s 2nd law says the greater the mass of an object, the more force is needed to act upon it. We see this law in action when we put the washers on the balloon cart. Newton’s 3rd law states Every Action has an equal, opposite reaction. We see this law in action in action when the balloon cart hits an object, the cart goes backwards but the object in the cart flies forwards.

What worked?

Collaboration worked well because my partner and I was talking to each other and talking about how to make our balloon cart better. We had to make the straw larger so more air would come out to make our balloon cart faster.

What did not work?

It was struggle when my partner and I blow the balloon up, some of the air escaped causing us to lose more air when releasing the balloon cart and we solved the problem by making the straw larger and having more air in the balloon.

Personal Relevance

The balloon car was like a real car in the world, when we step on the engine, the car goes forward and when we suddenly step on the brakes, we fly to the front unless we have the seatbelt on.

Creative Writing Unit

Creative Writing Reflection What are we doing?
Writing a fictional story based on a theme that matters to me.

What are we learning? Theme (my purpose for writing this story, my message to readers)
Character Development (creating believable characters with positive & negative traits)
Plot (the sequence of events in my story; Western and Eastern approaches to storytelling)
Setting (the world that I create for my story)

 What’s Working:
I enjoyed writing the conflict because I really want to make the conflict end in the end of the story. I am proud of my vocabulary and the best line in my story is when the antagonist tells the truth in the end of my story.

 Areas for Growth:
Things that were challenging were when I had to write the start of the story because I didn’t know how to start the story. I started with early that morning because I didn’t know how to start.

  Personal Relevance:
I like creative writing because I can write all my ideas and imagination down.

Art

This is your writing prompt: Write about an artwork of your choice that you are proud of having made. When you write about it, share what the project is, how you made it, what materials you used, which methods you applied.

The project that I am proud of is my plaster project. I made a snowman out of plaster, I combined two plaster pieces together and I painted it’s cap gold. I decorated it to make it look like New Year and I also drew a scarf and a little face for it. It was satisfying when I put the plaster on the paper. 😆

Critical Thinking

What did I do?

I used my critical thinking skills to complete challenges with Indi robot cars and build rollercoasters with Gravitax.

What did I learn?

I learned about how I would be graded for critical thinking. Critical thinking is my ability to solve problems and make right decisions.

What worked?

I thought critically when I problem solved to make it go slower and faster and make it 45 degrees.

What did not work?

I struggled when the Gravitrax ball did not fall down and kept making the towers fall down. My group and I tried different materials and didn’t give up until we found the one that fits it.

Personal Relevance

Todays learning is very fun and interesting and I liked how we workedhn together and had fun collaborating when we had problems.
