The Giver

what did I do?

I learnt about dystopian fiction by writing ga academic paragraphs + disscussing topics related to the book The Giver.

What did I learn?

I learnt about using vocabulary, using transition words, writing a academic paragraph, and collaborative discussions.

What worked?

Things that worked was the Discussion notes in the book The GiverI wrote quotes from the story, different dystopian fictions things that were the same and different.

What did not work?

Things that did not work was my common lit assignments i did not write as much and some were sent back to me.

Personal Relevance

I think that i did well this time because i liked all of the classes and all of the discussions we did

soccer refelction

What did I learn?

I learnt that soccer needs lots of cooperation and cooperation.

What helped?

Things that helped was dribbling

what is something you are proud of?

I am proud of the goals that i scored

Unit II – Ötzi Unit Reflection

What did I work on?

In this unit we worked on our observations on the Ötzi pictures, our inferences, and the wonderings. We also worked on the CER for Ötzi. We asked open and closed questions.

What did I learn?

I learnt about caring about the past because we had to go to court to argue about whether Ötzi was murdered or not. We asked questions about the expert witnesses’ expertise so that we can argue that Ötzi the iceman was not murdered.

What Worked well?

Things that worked well was the ending statement of the defense team. I had a strong argument and proved well that Ötzi was not murdered. I am proud of myself when I forget about a part, and I still finish it just before the ending.

What did not work?

Things that did not work were the questions some were against me, making it hard to win. My questions also we are not about the expert witness’s expertise. I had enough questions, but I forgot to ask all of them, causing some problems for my team.

Personal relevance

I think that I did okay not bad but not good because I had pauses and thoughts when I was talking which I could improve on. I did good at the ending statement making it strong like the wall of China, so we had a bigger chance of winning. I know that I can do a lot better next time because of the expert witnesses always talking the artery being shot making our lives hard.

Egg car

We had to make a egg car with three pieces of paper and two safety materials. We had about one class we had to use newton’s two laws to make the egg hit the slope and then let the egg stay in the car without cracking.

What did I Learn ?

I Learnt about newtons’s 1st law, an object at rest tends to stay at rest, an object in motion tends to stay in motion unless acted upon an unbalanced force. This is seen in the egg car because of the egg’s inertia it wants to continue going forward but is blocked by the seat belt. Also according to newton’s 2nd law the heavier the mass of the object the more force needed to move the object. The egg car with a plastic egg making it go really slow but when we use the real egg the car the car went fast down the slope. According to Newton’s 3rd law every action has an equal opposite reaction. The car has a crumple zone to slow down the crash.

What worked

Things that worked on the egg car was the weights because the egg car could hold lots of weight so that the egg does not break hitting the track’s floor. Also we did great on the safety features including the air bag and seat belt.

What Did Not Work

Things that did not work was the seatbelt’s tightness, because the second we gave our egg car to Ms.Kirwin the egg car’s seatbelt loosened.

Personal relevance

I think that I did okay but not too good because we did try out best to make it but too much makes it worse so that it is too big bursting the seatbelt around it causing the egg to fall out.

The fastest ballon car

What Did I Do?

I made a balloon car using a styrofoam base, wheels, and two balloons. We were trying to make the fastest car using these materials me and my partner thought of different things like others having the balloon car’s air coming out and is pushing other air particles that makes it hard to accelerate fast enough. We used the way of the air pointing onto the ground pushing it forward so the air would hit the floor and then push it forward making the acceleration faster so we could win.

What Did I Learn?

Newton’s 1st law states that an object in motion stays at motion and an object at rest tends to stay at rest and an object in motion tends to stay at motion unless acted upon an unbalanced force. We see this law in action with the balloon car when the car was moving forward because of the air and the unbalanced object is the ground making it slow down because of gravity. Newton’s 2nd law states the greater the mass of an object the more force needed to move the object. We see this in the balloon car when we tested how far the car can go with weighs on it. Newton’s 3rd law states every action has a equal opposite reaction. We can see this in the balloon car because the wheel is pushing back on the floor pushing it forward.

What Worked?

The balloon car’s acceleration was fast and it worked well because of it’s push on the floor the acceleration worked well because mostly every one’s balloon car passed the finish line making it’s acceleration a really useful way to win.

What Did Not Work?

It was a struggle when our first balloon popped when it was in the last one to two minutes. To solve this problem we took the straw out then wrapped another one on top then we used hot glue to make it stay in place because the taking off did damage to the balloon car.

Personal Relevance

The balloon car was like the in a car turning in real life when we tried it first the balloon car drifted causing the balloon to turn the other way.I see Newton’s 1st law in this because your body has the inertia and is still going in a direction so you will lean to the side. Knowing Newton’s Laws because it helps us know about different forces in the world.

Learn about your body

In this unit we learnt that people all look different after puberty and others may have a broader chest and others may have mood swings more easily. We should Know this because we can know why we look like what we look like.

we need to feel confident about knowing this because we know about our bodies making us not be afraid of not being not like them.

SUPER CRITICAL THINKER

What Did I do?

I used my critical thinking skills to completer challenges with Indi robots cars and build rollercoasters with Gravitrax.

What did I Learn?

I learnt about how I would be graded for Critical Thinking. Critical Thinking is my best ability to solve problems and make the right decision.

What Worked?

things that worked in critical thinking is I made the robot go to different places by using different colors of the cards.

What Did Not Work?

things that did not work is the sides the robot turned we always get the sides wrong and we need to change it.

Personal relevance

I think I did well on this class to learn about critical thinking so that I can think more carefully.

Unit 1 – Campaign for the Olympics Reflection

What did I work on?

We worked on the Olympic logo, my partner was Brendon, we changed lots of details and different parts to make it look better and more in detail. We chose to use fuji mountain and Sakura flowers because they are really strong symbol of Japan. This makes our presentation neat and looks really nice.

What are we learning?

We learnt a lot from Culture Grams and Brittanica, it helped us know all about Japan. It encouraged us to add mount fuji and the animals in the sides are animals that can live in the snow. Our flag has Fuji Mountain, Sakura flowers, animals, and a olympic sign.

What worked?

The things that worked is the Olympic logo is Mount Fuji it makes the background more in detail if Fuji Mountain was not their things would be so boring. We each made our own parts and

What did not work?

Things that did not work were when I forgot my lines in the presentation. I was so nervous I said umm and so yeah. I think that I can be better and practice more at home. Practice makes me more perfect so I think I need to Practive more than 5 times in the next few presentations.

Personal relevance

I think that i did okay in this presentation I have a lot more space to improve in. This was a really fun unit with searching about things and. making a PPT. I can be better and try to get meeting and get better (Climb High!)

P.E. Ping Pong

In this unit I learnt about the forehand serve.

I learnt about the forehand and backhand stroke

I improved my back hand

I loved the king and queen and king court

I could be better at back hand and fore hand stroke
